Excellent Beach

This hotel had one of the nicest beaches I've seen in my seven visits to the Cancun area. The beach was very well manicured daily. We visited in May and the resort was very empty. If it was busier the lack of palapas would be a problem. The beach chairs are not cushioned?? A simple change the resort could make. We rented a jr suite with a patio with cushions on our beach chairs so we just took those to the beach with us. Our room was very nice and the desk help allowed us a late check out-charging us $10.00 per hour-which I thought was fair. We ate most of our meals in the restaurant-enjoyed the fajitas and the shrimp. We were not able to find much of interest at the buffets. No evening entertainment at all in the resort. If your main purpose of vacation is the beach-this is a fine resort for the price.

Great Value

The hotel is just a nice little hotel with a great location and great service. You can walk to anything you want, restaurants, shopping malls, bars, clubs. The staff is constantly cleaning, the maids clean the rooms, windows, patios, everything. There is another crew of people that clean inside and outside the hotel and grounds. It has the best groomed beach. There are only two restaurants and a poolside grill but the food is very good. For us the place is so inexpensive for all inclusive that we usually have breakfast & lunch or a snack at the hotel plus cocktails and do not feel guilty going to other restaurants for dinner which is very nice. We have been to better hotels for all inclusive with more restaurants, but it still seems like you're eating the same old food everyday.

HORRIBLE SERVICE

Where to start?? My parents stayed at this hotel 9 yrs ago and loved it. Not sure what has happened since then, but some changes need to be made! It was one thing after another! Upon arrival I found a hairball the size of a chihuahua on the floor and also noticed that we did not have any soap or enough towels. I reported this to the front desk and was told that the room would be cleaned and supplied with soap and towels. It took several days to get this straightened out. Also had to constantly ask for bottled water. We paid for the all-inclusive meal plan thinking it would be a bargain, but was very disappointed in the selection. The drinks were made well, but there was only 1 bar open during the day and it was located in the middle of the "party pool". The lobby bar didn't open until later in day. Lots of walking if you were on beach or at other pool. Our room keys quit working on 3 occasions during the week. This meant walking all the way to the lobby from our room at the far end of the property to get resolution. Not fun when you are hot and tired! We lost electricity in our room on the last morning. It was nice having a balcony to get some fresh air and light. Once the sun rose, we had to get out of the room to avoid roasting :( I have to commend the staff in the La Fuente dining room. They always had a smile and did the best they could to accommodate us. The same can not be said for the front desk staff! We were told by a Guest Relations staff member that the Food & Beverage Manager had quit the previous week. I'm not sure if our bad experiences were due to this change or if it was like this before! I completed a Comment Card at check out, but who knows if it will be read or not. The hotel has a lot going for it. It appears to me that there is a big problem with the management! By the way....the hairball was still in the same place (in corner) when we checked out 7 days later! We decided to laugh at these issues and make the best of the situation. We will definitely go back to Cancun, but WON'T stay at the Flamingo unless we hear of BIG changes. The location was wonderful and the beaches were beautiful. My family made memories that that was our goal :)

We chose to ride the bus down to Playa Del Carmen and take the ferry over to Cozumel for a day. The transportation system was wonderful & affordable! The buses and ferry were air-conditioned and clean. It only cost $75 for all 3 of us round-trip. Great way to see the scenery and watch people :)

I hate Cancun

Hotel was adequate, quite old, good view,Bland, tasteless food.Biggest problem is it is in Mexico, everybody expects to be tipped for being in your presence.Belize is a far more friendly place to go,especially Caye Caulker.I will never return to Mexico!

Great location for the price

We had a great time at the Flamingo. For the price it works, this place is not for everyone. if you are looking for location, nice beach, and the best bang for your buck then this is the place for you. The staff is nice and very helpful, but there are a couple of people that can rub you the wrong way. Other than that our room was very clean, the hotel for its age was well kept. The beds unfortunately are hard and the food isn't the greatest, but that gives you an opportunity to try some of the local restaurants. Not the ones across the street, but others.

Flamingo Cancun

This was our first trip to Cancun. The location was great for the amount of money spent. It is a 3 minute taxi ride or 15 minute walk to clubs and shopping malls. The food isnt spectacular but wasnt bad either. The service at the hotel could have been better. Some of our concerns were not addressed the way we thought they should.

Good for the money

We stayed at the Flamingo Cancun 4/25/11-4/28/11 and had a wonderful time!! All of the staff were very friendly and pleasant. The food was great, especially at the outdoor restaurant. We did not go hungry and were not disappointed by the food! Our only negatives was the air conditioning was not that great in the room and the bed was very hard. Other than that there wasn't anything else to complain about. For what we wanted to do which was lay at the beach and have drinks, this was perfect. We got a great deal [...] and the hotel was more than adequate. The beach is beautiful so I highly recommend you go. We are already planning our next trip to Cancun!! My tip: take lots of $1 bills. You'll need them for tips and the desk doesn't carry much USD change so be prepared by having lots of $1 on hand.

Shopping tip: Long walk from hotel

We walked down to the Market Place. We were told it was only a 10 minutes walk but it's more like 25 minutes. In flip flops that stunk. Take walking shoes! The booth owners at the Market Place start yelling at you before you even get there. They are all over you like crazy. You have to be firm to make them back off. Browsing and looking are not an option there.

GREAT SUN RISES

When we arrived we were told we had a street veiw not the ocean veiw and all inclusive we had paid for. This was upsetting to me since I had looked forward to the all inclusive and the oceanveiw and we had friends coming on another flight. We both had made the same reservations. It did corrected but when I pay for something I shouldn't have get the manager to make sure it's right

Great bargain for college students!

Had a blast in cancun fro spring break! the Flamingo was great- not too fancy, and very affordable for an all-inclusive resort! I would highly recommend it to those looking for a beach hotel with an all inclusive option who don't want to spend thousands of dollars! The staff is very friendly and really tries hard to accommodate you. Also, the lobby has 2 computers with internet to use at no cost (they are a bit slow though) or you can access their free wifi in the lobby. Only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars was because the food could have been better and also because upon checking out, we were charged for a couple of international phone calls that we never made!
