Great Time

Motel Staff was excellent. Visited ruins and geo-park during stay. On site food and drink was very good. Located on edge of action so walking distance yet far enough from "crazy zone". Suggest all inclusive option if eating and drinking more than 3 drinks and one meal a day at hotel. Would not suggest for children but everybody has differt ideas about that. Room was above basic and clean, perfect unless you plan on spending a lot of room time. Upgrade to ocean view, it's worth it!

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Habaneros Restaurant is a short 500 yard walk from hotel. Just a hole in the wall, my living room is bigger but cheap and excellent simple menu.

Pros and Cons

The rooms were clean, bright, and visually pleasing. There were no alarm clocks in the room, so be sure to bring a watch if you will not be using your cell phone clock. Initially, housekeeping did not provide adequate towel/ hand cloth replacements, but after reporting to the front desk, the issue was addressed. The food at the restaurants and pool bar were very tasty. There was enough variety to suit one's taste. I suggest that you purchase the all inclusive option, although Outback and Margaritaville are across the street. Note that the resort will provide various coupons for 1 free drink or appetizer, some without any purchase, at surrounding restaurants. Take advantage of those offers as well. I did not spend any money on food or drinks during my entire stay. The restuarant choices were satisfactory, and the view overlooking the ocean only accented the meals. We were offered the chance to upgrade to an oceanview room for $25/night, but decided to keep the streetview. We were rarely in the room, so the street sounds were hardly noticeable, and did not keep me from sleeping at all. The water pressure in the toilets is a little weak. You may have to flush multiple times. The bar area in the lobby has multiple lounge areas, a flat screen tv, and a pool table. This is a great area to co-mingle and meet other people staying in the resort from all over the world. The pool closes at 9pm, which seems to be a little early to me. Some additional Cons: there was no fact sheet, booklet, or map of the resort in our room or given at check-in to inform you of the policies of the resort or the location of the exercise facilities, restaurants or pools. You had to discover these areas yourself. Also, for instance, visitors who are not staying at the resort are not allowed past the lobby area. No one could provide documentation stating this policy. They said it was on the back of the room door, but no documentation was there. At times, the service in the restaurants was less than adequate (the server had to take my drink order 3 separate times before i received it on one occasion). This only occurred 1-2 times during my stay though. And at other times I did receive prompt service. More pros: the location is excellent. The bus stop is directly infront of the resort. The Flamingo mall is across the street, along with popular restuarants. A number of areas of interest are within 10 - 20 minutes walking distance as well. Security is also very visible. Free internet is accessible on two pcs in the lobby, but it is hard to find one that is not in use. And during our stay, one of the pcs was removed due to internect connection errors. The overall experience was good. My expectations were exceeded, I enjoyed my stay and would reccomend it to others.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

Inexpensive souveniers can be found at the Kukulcan Plaza Mall at the Hacienda Tequila restaurant & store on the 2nd floor. The resort also has a 10% discount coupon for all merchandise purchases here. This is a short 5 minute or less bus ride. The advantage is that the people do not try to entice you to purchase here at the mall, but there are still good discounts on the products without the additional hassle and aggravation.

Good price for an average hotel

The customer service was poor at best. The shop in the hotel was over priced: 20 pesos (about $1.75US) for a can of soda and 200 pesos (about $17.70US) for a $2 pair of flip flops. The meals were overpriced: $20US for lunch per person. [...] The hot tub was luke warm (slightly warmer than the pool). The first room we went to was being repaired so we had to wait for the bellboy to get another key. We were not able to connect to the wireless internet, but we did get a slow connection with a neighboring hotel in our room. The bed was a little more comfortable than a shag carpet floor. Given all that, it was still fun. The hotel is in an good location. The beach is amazing and right out the back door. There is a restaurant on the beach with reasonable prices. The city bus stops right in front of the hotel and will take you down town for 8.5 pesos. Our stay was fun and the hotel was fine for what we paid.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

If you plan to go downtown, get a map from one of the travel agencies (without getting sucked into their sales pitch) and ride the city bus. The drivers are usually helpful if you ask. The city bus costs about $.80 one way and the taxis around $15 one way to get down town.

the beach and the sea by the hotel was beautiful. i could hear the noise of machine or engine in my hotel room at night. i suppose it was the airconditioner. pillows and mattress were inferior quality.

We had a wonderful time

The hotel was very clean and nicely kept up. The food was very good but the service by the hotel staff was superior. The location of the hotel was perfectly situated with several resturants just across the street. Ray and Jose of Lomas Travel were very helpful with all of our activities, they took a special interest. We can't wait to return.

Love the Flamingo

This was our 15th visit to this hotel. In fact there were about 15 couples that are return guests when we were there. The hotel is an older hotel very well maintained and small so everything is accessible. I have stayed before in the mega hotels but I really don't care for the size. Being a small hotel you are able to get to know the staff and visa versa.
