Hotel in a perfect location, great for a family vacation

The buildings that comprise the Fiesta Americana Villas Cancun are based on traditional designs and there is a quiet, tranquil atmosphere that makes this a wonderful place for the whole family. A highlight is the private beach, where guests can sunbathe or play games on a long stretch of dazzlingly white sand or go for a swim in the brilliant turquoise waters of the Caribbean.

3 Reasons To Stay:
  • The resort won an RCI Gold Crown Award in 2011 for excellent hospitality and housekeeping
  • Great location in Punta Cancun, close to tourist attractions, nightlife and shopping opportunities

Nice smaller hotel

The Fiesta Americana was very different from all the surrounding hotels. It was refreshingly smaller and more quiet. Cancun itself was far too busy for us but this hotel did give you a break from the hustle and bustle. The staff that we encountered were all very nice. The beach bartenders were for the most part outstanding. One thing I did not like was the that everywhere we went it seemed that we were expected to tip but this seemed to be the trend all over Cancun. The pizza and snacks on the beach were great but breakfast was a bit expensive for what we got. We could walk down the street and get more for less. Rooms were clean, loved the organic soaps and lotion. Pools were nice and clean and a pretty good temperature. Had a pretty nice beach area compared to some of the larger hotel near by, Generally I would say if you want to go to Cancun this would be a good place to stay if you are looking for a smaller, quieter place.

Post deployment vacation

For my wife and me to have a simple trip to Cancun, this was an ultimate experience. The hotel was a lot nicer than expected and the staff was extremely nice and helpful. They try and organize sporting activities daily and while some thought that it was annoying, I really enjoyed them. Was a great experience overall following a long deployment to Afghanistan.

Dining tip: In Hotel

For me, the hotel food was fantastic, but a bit overpriced. I am not a picky eater, but me and my wife would have breakfast lunch and dinner, we would pay easily 150 dollars. Mexican fast food places are the thing to do if you have the stomach for it.

Excellent

Everything (except the Hurricane) was excellent. The rooms and hotel itself was spotless. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The food and drinks that we ordered from the pool waiter was excellent and reasonably priced. No complaints. We will go back as soon as we are able.

Very nice hotel

This is a nice hotel. The location is great. It is short walking distance to restaurants and night life. We didn't need to take a cab the whole time we were there. And the bus stop is right out the hotel. The Concierge and staff is very nice and helpful. they helped us make reservations and get information. When we arrived we were checked in quickly but then we sidetracked with a timeshare spiel. Which was awkward because we had just gotten to the hotel and after traveling all day we just wanted to get to the room and put our stuff down. But, they were not forceful. The room are nice and for the most part clean. The only down is that the floors were never really clean. It is as if they never sweep or mop. There is a free laundry room on the floor which was nice. Wifi in the lobby only.

Good location

This was a great vacation. The food and sodas were a little pricey allover. The hotel was nice. We were told by the front desk the breakfast buffet was 2 for 1 on Thursdays. Our waiter was clueless. He said that was last week but we verified again with the front desk. We think no one was communicating with each other.

Super location & friendly staff but...

Spent the year before a week at the Hyatt. Hyatt has the better beach. Everything else, I think, is in favor of the Fiesta Villas. Unbelievably friendly and caring service throughout our 10 day stay in March 2011. Nice pool shape in which you can swim around an island with palms and jacuzzi. 2hr happy hour at the wet pool bar but bar never really pricey. Room (living room/kitchen and bedroom) was very clean and comfy. Only two things, really, which we didn't like. There is a hefty sales push from time share sales people incl. calls to our room. Took two days of refusing until they got it. Another, more minor note: Wifi only in the really nice and roomy lobby/bar zone and it is the slower "g", not the "n", so we had trouble at times opening websites. We didn't try the restaurant other than for breakfast which was good. Had a rental car for trips around the state but if you want to eat downtown with the locals, there is a great, very convenient bus system. Inexpensive and they stop wherever you are and lift your arm. Avoid bus travel around 6pm because it seems then there is shift change for the service people and buses are full. Bars and discotheques are within walking distance without your hearing them in your room. A shopping mall just across the street. Two Walmarts with great food selection easy to reach with buses. Overall, I would recommend it to my best friend.

Take bus to the street Av. Tulum. Lots of dining in the side streets and a very entertaining public square (live shows and sensational small electric vehicles for kids, age 3-7 self operated or remotely by parents)approx. 200m off Av. Tulum. All year around.

The various ruins were wonderful, but don't waste your time snorkleing off Isla Mujeres. The current is fast, you have to go in a large group, and you can't explore underwater wearing the required floatation device.

Upgrade...it's worth it!

The upgrade to a Jr. Suite "guaranteed" by [...]did not show up on the hotel's computer system. A 10 minute/$10 dollar phone call fixed that and it was certainly worth it! The initial room was "deluxe" with two double (not queen) beds that overlooked the alley and the neighboring hotel's pool. The Jr. Suite had a kitchenette, living room, and in-room jacuzzi, and the view was excellent. The hotel staff even helped us pick which Jr. suite would be better. Overall the staff was very helpful and the desk-workers spoke very good English.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Oxxo (kind of like a 7-11) and Express Super (grocery store) are only 5-10 minutes' walking distance away. I would recommend opening any perishable items immediately upon buying them AT the store. We bought cereal that had bugs in the box AND in the sealed bag--disgusting! Also, Tuesday is 2 pizzas for the price of one at the hotel--my wife and I ate pizza for 4 meals (not bad for 280 pesos).
