Well deserved reputation

I was more than satisfied with my recent stay at Fiesta Americana. The beach was beautiful, not rocky, some small waves. I was very surprised with the reasonable prices at the restaurants on the property. I was alone for the week and the staff made me feel very comfortable and relaxed, they always recognized me. The hotel is facing east so the pool area was shaded before 10 and after 2. It was a very busy week when I went but I recommend claiming chairs by 8 or 9 in the morning on the beach and near the pool The room was very clean but I briefly had a few very tiny ants show up near the coffee machine but they were gone after a few days (never saw more than 3 or 4). I had read that this hotel is older.

Great place to stay in Cancun

I stayed here ten years ago. The return was even better. First class service all the way. Repairs were made in three minutes after a phone call. Food was great. Beautiful rooms and view. Only problem I was there during Easter and the beach was crowded. Pool personal did not make Chairs available. You had to fend for yourself. Many chairs went unoccupied even though towels were left on them.

a wonderful and relaxing vacation!

This is my third time at the fiesta and i was very excited to be in the new wing. everything is beautiful at the hotel and the staff is always willing to make your stay special. the hotel is in a great location. It was difficult to get lounges at the pool if you were not up early to get them. Also, the fitness center charges 10$ per day to use it.

Very Nice Rooms but lacking a few Points

This hotel is really very beautiful and rooms quite nice -- very spacious, nice large bathroom, good TV with quite a few American channels, nice balcony with good view (I think all rooms have a water view). The food in the restaurants was pretty good that I had (except the coffee in the breakfast cafe was very bad). The bed was a bit too firm for me, but I could sleep, it wasn't as bad as some Mexican hotels where it is like a slab of concrete. The main issues I have with this hotel that just some cheap for the level it is are that they charge you for coffee in the room (they provide a coffeemaker) at US$3 a bag! Never heard of such a thing in places that have a coffeemaker. They also don't give you a free welcome bottle of water in the room or anything like that as some nice hotels do. They have repeated in the room instructions that you are not allowed to bring in any food/beverage you didn't buy from them (even a bottle of water) and make the laughable statement that this is for "health and sanitary reasons". Again, this is just cheap and tacky, to claim you aren't allowed to buy a bottle of water and bring it to your room. I can understand not wanting messy food in the room, but the idea that a can of Coke is somehow unsanitary if you buy it at the convenience store next door but healthy if you buy if from their minibar is absurd. Those kind of nickel and diming tactics just detract from their general atmosphere and make them seem cheap. They also didn't have a very good tour/activities area or people, which surprised me. Other modest hotels I've stayed at had better suggestions and brochures for day tour companies and things. I also thought naively that the hotel, since it had its own pool and beach area, would offer perhaps their own snorkeling lessons or something, which I wanted--but they didn't. Anyway, all in all, the location is very convenient and the hotel beautiful, so I don't regret staying there at all and would again, but these few things are why I don't give it top ratings, which to me means perfect. There were also some noisy people in the hotel above me who seems to be moving furniture and running around at all hours, and the staff was noisy in the hallway, although I don't know how the hotel can solve noisy people issue (but they can tell their own staff to be quiet). The hotel also has dress codes for the restaurants, which is fine, but factually, they don't enforce them to the standards they set, so don't worry (ie, the nice restaurant Joya claims the dress code is "casual informal" which is about anything but shorts, etc. and says denim is not appropriate, but there were people in there wearing jeans).

Great resort!!

Stayed at this resort for one week on 4/20 - 4/27 2009 and had an amazing time. The service at this resort is impecabble- the staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were large, clean, comfortable and had a gorgeous view of the pool and the beach. Perhaps the best selling point of this resort is its location. It's walking distance to a couple of malls where there are restaurants and plenty of retail outlets, as well as nightclubs and the Cancun Convention Center. Inspite its central location, the resort manages to be extremely quiet and tranquil at night. The beach fronting this resort is probably among the best in Cancun's hotel zone. Unlike the narrow and rocky beaches along the southern strip of the zone, the beach at FA Grand Coral beach is very wide with fine, powdery white sand. The resort faces Isla Mujeres, shielding the resort from rough waves and making the water here tame and ideal for swimming. The service at the beach and pools are also fantastic. There's an activity desk right on the beach where you can rent jet skis and book other activities like snorkeling and scuba diving. If I have to be picky, I'd have to say that the air conditioning in the rooms is fairly loud and doesn't seem to cool the room much. Also, there aren't enough electrical outlets in the room where you can plug in your electrical devices. Overall, the Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach is an incredible resort. If I ever return to Cancun, I wouldn't hesitate staying at this resort again.

Fiesta Am. Coral Beach Jan 2010

First day I went to Chichen Itza to see the Mayan Ruins. The remaining 3 days I enjoyed the beautiful Cancun beach and sun. Hotel staff (and locals) are helpful if they get a commission/tip for helping you. Otherwise you are of your own. If the hotel calls you a taxi be prepared to pay twice of what you would pay if you took the taxi just down the street.
