Nice hotel but didn't expect sales pitch

The Fiesta Americana Condesa Cancun was overall a very nice hotel. The rooms were clean, the pool area was nice and there were plenty of open chairs and palapas to relax under on the beach. There were, however, a couple of things I didn't expect. For instance, although our package stated gratuities were included, we did feel as if the service we received depended upon extra tipping. One very disappointing aspect of the trip is the fact that they tried to get us to purchase a time share on the property. We did not expect this, as we paid a good amount to stay at this property and didn't receive any discounts or perks in exchange for the time share atmosphere. We spent a good amount of time avoiding the staff that wanders the lobby to avoid having to deal with the sales pitches. One other thing we didn't expect were the small portions. The food is all inclusive, so we could order more, but the portions were small according to our Amercian standards. These are not the meals you hear about on cruise ships. The hotel was not all bad, though. The pool was great, the rooms were nice, and it was great to have room service included. I would recommend this hotel barring the time share sales pitch. One tip--don't book the shuttle Orbitz offers to and from the airport. The shuttle is also a ploy to get you involved in a time share, and worst of all, the shuttle left without us the morning of our departure. We had set up a pickup time almost a week in advance as per their request, however, the driver apparently called our hotel room while we were at breakfast because he arrived 15 minutes before the agreed upon time. Since we weren't there to take the call he left us and we had to take a taxi. Save yourself the hassle and just take a taxi. It was around the same price (300 pesos) and you will have no trouble finding one as they line up at the hotels.

Time-saving tip: Not Applicable

We rented a car and it was a great decision. While it can be a little strange driving around in a foreign country (the police stand around with guns, etc.), the main roads were in good shape and easy to navigate, and we saved a lot of money by forgoing package deals on attractions such as Chichen Itza.

great place to stay

very clean and friendly place they need more entertainment throughout the day. it was a pretty quiet place. It rained for half of our trip and there was very little to do inside the hotel they maybe need a dance club or something inside or maybe more games to play, dance lessons or something to entertain guests on rainy days. otherwise very nice place. I would definitely recommend it

Mediocre at Best

My family and I stayed at Fiesta Americana in July of 2011. We have visited Cancun for the past four years and this was by far our most disappointing hotel stay. Unlike other hotels which made us feel welcomed as soon as we stepped out of the cab, Fiesta Americana offered no assistance with our luggage and we had to remind the clerk to give us directions to our rooms. Our rooms were outdated and the mini fridge merely kept our drinks slightly below room temperature. One of our rooms had a missing hotel info & menu binder missing while the other room had one with missing pages. Wifi signal was also weak (but it is free) and we had difficulty calling each other from room to room. The food itself is pretty good, but the restaurants appeared to be understaffed so average service was this hotel's best available service. Considering the wide array of all-inclusive hotels in Cancun I would definitely recommend staying elsewhere. In our four years of Cancun visits, this is the only hotel that we were all disappointed by.

We loved it and would come back

We went mainly to relax and beach it for the time we were there. From the moment we arrived, we were taken care of very well. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had food and beverages. Even on the beach they came by and before I could finish one drink they were giving me a fresh one. Can't beat that service anywhere. We are not into gourmet foods so the buffets were the best. Always had someone there to grill you food. Even the breakfast was excellent. The french toast, pancakes and omlets where excellent. All fresh and can be made right there for you. Everything was fresh and tasty. A excellent experience for a all inclusive and will be back there for sure.

Overall it was good vacation

Hotel is very clean and well maintained. Staffs are generally really helpful and kind, but service is extremely slow at some restaurants inside. We had to sit on the table 15minitues without served water for dinner. It wasn't busy season and there were enough staffs, but some of waiters are very very slow and doesn't work efficiently. Foods are good but Asian fusion. Asian fusion was just so terrible. I loved Mexican food( of course it should be good...) they served. Don't take airport shuttle from orbitz, the staffs from the shuttle company(Grey line) are just begging for tip, and make you arrive in the airport way too early. I gave good tips to shuttle drivers and bag boys, but there are two more people who follows you for nothing and beg for tips. I couldnt understand why I had to give a tip for nothing.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

Hotel concierge recommends to go to Lapis jewelry store to look around the factory and free shuttle. And also they give you free pendant. But unless you are planning to spend good amount of money for nice jewlery, please don't go. They seems to have good jewelry but overpriced. And very push, they don't let you get out from the door unless you buy something. I had to buy pair of plain crystal silver earring for $120, but they ask first place $170( but price marked as $280). I regret that I heard from hotel concierge..

Excellent food for this all inclusive

I have been to 8 different all inclusive resorts in the Cancun/Playa del Carmen area and this one had the best food quality by a good stretch! The rest is what you can expect from an all inclusive, good bang for your buck. Beware the lobby/main bar area is not cooled, and there's barely any breezes getting in... not very comfortable to sit down and have some drinks/socialize...

Europea alcohol store is on average the cheapest alochol shop in Cancun.... it's on the main strip in the hotel zone, search for it. Don't buy anywhere else.

Solo jaunt to Mexico

This was my first visit to Cancun, and I am happy to say that I will definitely be going back! The staff at the Fiesta Americana Condesa were very accomodating and pleasant, and the pool and beach were spectacular. My room was spacious and clean, and the bed was quite comfortable. I got exactly what I paid for, regarding room location and view, and the food was wonderful. On my list of places I'd stay at again.

great week

My wife and I vacationed from 8/27/11-9/3/11 and we were a little conserned since you have no idea what the hotel is like except what you read on these reviews. I will have to say that this hotel is worth the money and the staff is awsome. The hotel staff is always cleaning the grounds or your room and are very polite to you. We used the city bus to activities outside the hotel and that was a trip in itself compared to where we come from in Indiana. I will recommend this hotel to any one and we are planning to return next year. Thank you Fiesta Americana Condesa for your making our vacation for the first time in Cancun a great experience

Best Family getaway

We stayed 8/28-9/3, Everything was great, the food, staff and the hotel. Beds were alittle uncomfortable but the rest was great. The hotel staff treated everyone like you were important, anything you wanted they would get. The Activity staff were fun around the pool and our 3 daughters went with them to a club. The food was very good and we loved the Italian even if I did have to wear pants. I would go back here anytime. We also like 24 hour room service. Our children are 26, 24, 21 and 15 and they loved it.
