Excellence Playa Mujeres Cancun Luxury Adults Only - All Inclusive

This was my first visit to Cancun and I had heard of this resort from a co-worker. I traveled alone for a much-needed vacation, and found enough to keep myself occupied even though the resort is entirely geared toward couples. They're not kidding about the 7 pools; the lazy river is my favorite - this is the one with the hammocks hanging directly over parts of the water. This pool was always warm and extremely relaxing to just float around in. This is also where the "swim-up" rooms are located on the first floor. If I stay at this hotel again (which is likely), I plan to reserve a swim-up so I can just walk out onto my patio and jump in.This resort has 9 restaurants and during my stay, I was able to try 7 of them. All of the food was excellent. They offer truly international cuisine, from French to Indian and of course, Mexican. The wait staff all speak decent English, are very polite and professional, and truly want you to enjoy every second of your meal. The only weird part for me happened each time I entered a restaurant - because I was traveling alone, the host/hostess was always surprised when I requested a table for one. They're so accustomed to dealing with couples or wedding parties that they forget their manners when a single shows up. I'd say this is the only thing I wished were different. I'm not the type of traveler who likes to sit on a beach all day and do nothing, so during my stay, I looked into the various excursions available from the hotel. Using the [...]on-site assistant [...], he hooked me up with a day trip to Chichen Itza. What a site! If you've never been there, it is definitely worth seeing.Last, the Excellence is not located on the main hotel boulevard of Cancun. Excellence is located in the developing section of the city, about a 15 minute cab ride from the general hotel area. This makes the resort much more exclusive and quiet, but the cab ride to the main hotel area is upwards of US$ 25, which is a rip off given that it really doesn't take that much time to get there. Keep that in mind if you like to venture off the reservation occasionally.

Great all-inclusive adults-only resort! Rooms are great (mini bar didn't really keep drinks cold, but cool . . . they have ice machines however). Resort layout is good, not too small, not too large. Well manicured grounds. Beach was brilliant, seaweed cleared often, water clear and just beautiful! Many bars and restaurants to choose from, and room service was really good as well. No buffet breakfast or lunch however, restaurants were sit-down/order only. Over all a great resort, wonderful and relaxing vacation spot!!

This was the most relaxing and enjoyable stay, thanks to the wonderful staff at Excellence Playa Mujeres. Every member of the staff was friendly and went out of their way to make sure our needs were taken care of. This started with the Private Transportation we booked with Grayline [...] to the hotel staff and excursions. The hotel was great. We booked a swimout room (pool just off our walkout patio) but we really didn't need it as there were plenty of chairs - no need to save chairs first thing in the morning. The food was wonderful, and of course the all-inclusive includes drinks. The shows at night were average, but we still enjoyed everything the hotel had to offer.

Well the resort was NOT as promised on the website! We kept having problems with everything! First there is no working wifi ...for 5 days they were working on it but still no wifi. The restaurant DONT have reservations but there is one hour wating online to get in or you can simply go to the buffet as usual and the food was realy bad. Also half of the restaurants DON'T have AC!!!!! The same team that was working to fix the wifi was also fixing the AC !! The spa dosnt have AC either!!!! Anyway Mexico is a country that Americans can go and stay without an AC!!!! The pool is only 4 feet deep! That's right thats the deepest sooo no diving! Service was dreadful ! Other that that the rooms were great!

The hotel and the pools were nice and very clean. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. The food left a lot to be desired. The Mexican restaurant was good. The Lobster House did a good job for breakfast.

ARRIVAL - beautiful resort, secluded from all other resorts - 3 gates before arriving at hotel - greeted with champagne and cold towels upon arrival - had difficulty getting 2 adjacent rooms, no matter how hard we pushed - our room keys did not work initially FOOD - buffet and different restaurants were all excellent (all the reviews were correct about the food) - food very genuine and well prepared, gourmet style - must have Lobster House for dinner, and be sure to order at least 1 lobster/person - Spice restaurant has great desserts ACTIVITIES - snorkeling includes only equipment, and does not include boat ride out to clear water - snorkeling boat ride offered, but for an additional excessive charge - jetski available for purchase also - the only free activities are kayaking and hobycat sailboat - lazyriver very extensive and fun to drift down - hammocks in the lazy river very relaxing - didn't play much music by the pool bar, too quiet ADULTS-ONLY RESORT - they should specify that this resort is a COUPLES resort - our group of 4 had 1 couple and 2 single people, so we opted for an adults-only resort, but EVERYONE on the resort was coupled off - do NOT come if you are single - must slip "please clean room" card at the door if you want room to be cleaned - otherwise room will not be cleaned CHECKOUT - no option for late checkout, only option was to check out at 12 and stay in another location for an additional hour

Everything about this resort was amazing! The views of the ocean were stunning and accessible from the pool of the hotel. The hotel and pool were extremely well maintained and service was unbeatable. The restaurants were great and our room was unbelievable. This resort went above and beyond my expectations in every category. I will recommend it to everyone I know.

From the moment we arrived and were greeted with a cool cloth and glass of champagne to the sad minutes before our departure when a hostess asked if everything had been as we hoped, this place was incredible! This is the best all-inclusive resort we have been to. The liquor flows freely and is top shelf. The food at the various cuisine restaurants was delicious. The massage at the spa was awesome. And the staff attended to your every need with a smile and professionalism. Our only complaint was that we had to leave and come back to reality. We would definitely go back and I would recommend this resort to anyone who wants to relax and get away from it all. We booked an all day trip and wished we had stayed at the resort. The trip was great but we lost a day at this little piece of heaven on earth.

This was the perfect getaway for a quiet and romantic time. The all-inclusive portion of the stay was amazing - restaurants were terrific, staff and crew was attentive, funny and downright charming. Entertainment each night was fun and didn't go so late that you couldn't sleep for the noise. Workout room was nice - spa experience also great!
