Great for excitement or for leisurely rest. Wonderful Staff!!

I could not ask for better service and customer care. I lacked for NOTHING! 24 hours a day, I had all I could eat and drink at my fingertips! I never carried my wallet with me......Gratituities are included! The staff was more than congenial. The activities directors made the days so much fun. I LOVE DREAMS!! Would not stay anywhere else!!

Excellent Customer Service

Staff was always polite and professional, anxious to please. However, hotel was somewhat disappointing as far as location and quality of physical environment. Bathroom fan was loud and obnoxious, water on the floor when taking a shower; door to balcony banged noisely at night when the winds picked up; very little English programming on television, most which was reruns. Since hotel has no doors to the outside, loud birds outside my door woke me early in the morning. Food was good, wide variety and easily available. My "oceanview" really was a view of the roof with a small slit of ocean in the distance. Beach was very narrow and crowded.

Change dollars into pesos before arriving in Mexico and get small denominations or bring lots of $1 bills for tips. I went several places before being able to change bills and then was given only large denominations. Even had one vender refuse to take my large bill.

Overall good deal

The location, food, and staff is all good but the hotel itself doesn't look as amazing in real life compared to the pics you'll most likely get to see. It's actually quite ugly and a little dated. Also, for younger folks who travel by themselves, lots of families with babies and married couples.

Kid friendly - and superb staff

Excellent venue, walking distance to some shops. Do book the transportation from the airport ahead of time - it's cheaper and they might be a venue for later tours. I can't wait to go again.' Don't bring your computer. It costs $ 16 per day for the internet. Instead use theirs for $ 10 an hour. Still too expensive. Calls are very expensive. Even though your booking might be an all inclusive package - it's a nice gesture to tip the waiters. Their staff is prompt, kind and caring. Connecting with your travel agent once there could be a hassle.

A tour to Chichen Itza is a must. Next time I'll book an overnight there. It's a hot place and January I'm told is the coolest month.

Great getaway

I am a return visitor to Dreams . I had not been back in about 5 years. It shows a little age but despite that it makes up by the attentative staff, great location for walking distance to the hotspots, entertainment and food quality. I would definitely stay again but room upgrades need to be made like flat screen TV's and painting in some places that show age. Also, the spa staff experience seems to have declined so ask for a experienced person .

I really relaxed!

I loved all of the little extras like turning down my bed in the evening and drawing the drapes to keep the sun out of my eyes in the morning and setting out a cold bottle of water for me! I also loved that I did not have to sign my life away to get a few beach towels and did not have to fight for a lounge chair on the beach.

Good for the money

I enjoyed my stay at Dreams. It isn't the fanciest resort, but you'll get a pretty good value for what you pay, and the location can't get much better. I had an ocean view room, and the view was fantastic. It was so relaxing sit on the balcony, look at the ocean, and listen to the waves. If you're up by around 6:30, you get a perfect view of the sunrise. The room itself was fine. Everything was reasonably clean. There was turn-down service every night. The mini fridge was stocked with soda, water, and Corona. I noticed that the room felt a little damp (especially when I walked on the floor barefoot), but that may have been because the room was close to the ocean, and the weather was slightly humid. I was perfectly happy to relax at the beach every day, and the resort has two. One contains more activity: you can snorkel, kayak, and use floating rafts. The lounge chairs are very close to the water. The water was very clear, and you could spot fish in the water. The sand was also very soft. I didn't hang out at the other beach much because the lounge chairs were a little far away from the water. I noticed a couple of beach volleyball courts. I didn't use the pool because it was pretty small, and there weren't many lounge chairs available. All the chairs were taken by 9:00 AM. The pool contained a swim-up bar. The food was fine. I ordered room service one night, and the food arrived pretty quickly. The World Cafe, which is buffet-style, is open for all meals. There is a different theme each night: French, seafood, Mexican, Italian. I appreciated that they tried to incorporate a lot of variety. I always looked forward to dessert; there were a few pastry options for lunch and dinner. The Seaside Grill was decent. Himitsu, the Japanese restaurant, wasn't the best, but I wasn't expecting stellar Japanese food at a Mexican resort anyway. I didn't get to try Oceana, the seafood restaurant. The food isn't on par with Michelin cuisine, but I had no problem with finding food that I liked. During turn-down service, housekeeping gives you a sheet that tells you about the activities going on the next day. I didn't participate in many of the activities, but it seemed like the entertainment staff worked hard to make sure that there was always something available, day and night. For the most part, the staff was courteous. There is drink service at the beach and pool, and they always check up on you to see if you want anything. The staff didn't seem to expect tips; they didn't hover, and they seemed really appreciative when I gave them tips. That being said, give tips! It's the right thing to do. The service at the restaurants I went to (Seaside Grill and Himitsu) was a little more chilly, but no one was rude. Everyone I interacted with spoke at least a little English. The resort was family-friendly. There was a kids' club, and a lot of the activities were targeted toward children. You'll hear the occasional screaming and crying, so if you want to get away from kids, this isn't the resort for you. Overall, I was satisfied with my stay at Dreams. Since an adults-only experience is more my style, I will probably stay somewhere else if I return to Cancun. But Dreams is certainly a great option if you're looking for a budget-friendly, family vacation.

Solo vacation

I went to Mexico solo and thought i had a great place via what i saw on the website. It was close but a bit disappointing. while the room had the ocean right off the balcony which was very nice and it was very relaxing sitting and reading at one of the main beach areas, the room needed some new flooring and an exterminator for the little ants patrolling the bathroom! The restaurants were closed at times so then one was limited to only one or two places and those had waits. not pleasant to walk all the way to a restaurant to only arrive and find the lights out. The staff were pretty nice and helpful but i wouldn't stay there again. there's plenty of other places to check out.
