It would be more enjoyable for us that dont speak Spanish to have TV we could understand. They have gone to eating outside on ... several nights and with the windy conditions, that was an adventure...Around the pool area a lot of the furniture was either damaged or dirty and stained......to eat lunch at the pool was a battle with the sea gulls. When the kids were looking for the available sports equipment they had to search the whole hotel for it.

Overall the place was decent, clean, the food was often cold. The rooms were kind of old and damp. The staff is great, but ... the bars need to find a better method for cleaning their glasses. I often saw them just rinse them out and pour another drink, when too busy. Generally I didn't think Cancun was very pleasant but I haven't ever been to Mexico so I can't compare to other places. We felt like we were given the run around every time we left the resort, and even had one taxi driver take us to the wrong place and then want money to take us back where we wanted to be. Way to many pushy tour/timeshare salesmen. We won't go back.

You can walk to Playa Del Tortuga and catch a ferry to the Isla Morjeras for a day trip. It is a fun, small island with a nice beach, plenty of shopping, zip line tours and a bunch of fun, cool, local restaurants and bars. We rented a scooter for $21 USD for the entire day and drove all the way around the small island stopping for food and cervecas along the way and had a blast. Made for a great (cheap) day trip and was something different than just hanging by the pool all day.

I've been to quite a few all inclusive resorts on the West and East coasts of Mexico and Dreams takes the cake! The ocean ... front rooms are gorgeous. Mini bar with sodas, juice and beer refilled each day or upon request. The restaurants and quality of food were pleasantly surprising. We literally did not have a bad meal in 8 days. And you have the choice of buffet style or sit down restaurants with various types of menus that are still included in the price (Steak house, sushi, seafood etc) There are also various bars located around the property that all have nice views, some with live music at night and top shelf liquor. The service from the waitstaff and barteneders was amazing and they were all very helpful and happy to serve you. Room was clean and decorated nicely. Large bathroom with tile shower. Nice lobby area. Beach area is kept up nicely with plenty of lounge chairs for everyone. And the dolphin lagoon is fun just to sit and watch even if you don't pay for the Dolphinius adventure. We had a great time and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dreams to friends or return for another trip.

Fantastically Fun and Relaxing Resort
Kimmy Nov 10, 2009
From the moment we arrived until the time we left, the staff at Dreams was extremely attentive, helpful and friendly. We have ... stayed at Dreams in PV the last 2 years and were so impressed with their services that we decided to try Cancun and we were not disappointed. We absolutely loved the Resort and Cancun. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, (we had an ocean view with a balcany) The maid service is excellent, fresh towels everyday, every evening turn down service with little chocolates, fresh bottled water, a schedule of events for the following day and a card showing what the weather would be like. The Dreams activity team is small but awesome and you could busy yourself thru out the day doing all the activities. My husband played beach and water volleyball everyday and I did water aerobics and yoga everyday. We also are runners, so we ran on the hotel zone every day and were able to run on nice sidewalks out and back about 6 miles, felt totally safe and were able to get a better layout of the land so to speak. There are 2 beaches, which Dreams is the only hotel on the Zone to have that, the water is absolutely beautiful, and the beaches are white sand. The food was great, they also have 24/7 room service, which is nice. You will not go hungry. Many choices to choose from. There are various bars around the resort. The staff waits on you at the beach and around the pool, which is nice. All inclusive is the way to go. There were many families, from infants to teenagers and everyone seemed to be having a great time and the staff was very accomodating. My husband and I were discussing if there were something that could have improved our stay while we were there, and we honestly couldn't think of anything, we had such a great time. I would definitely recommend Dreams to our friends and family. We plan on returning again next year, same time, same place.

Long story short, we attended church on a Sunday that we were there. We met a member who was a tour guide for Chichen Itza and Tulum. We ended up renting a car from Avis at the resort and our guide, met us at the hotel and our little adventure began. We totally lucked out meeting him, because he was able to give us so much information about the ruins and the history in the area. He also took us to a cenote which we swam in, which was awesome. We drove him home in the evening and were able to meet his family, which was very cool. It was a full day, but was one of the highlights of our trip. I would definitely recommend visiting the ruins, make sure to go with a guide though, (they have tours thru the hotel that you can sign up for or if you go to church maybe you'll luck out like we did:) because unless you are a Mayan history buff, you will totally miss out on the history of the people and the symbolism on the ruins. Have fun!!

dreams cancun is an average resort, it provides a nice resort with average amenities. it is not handicap friendly at all, if ... you depend on a wheel chair or walker then stay away! the elderly in our group had a hard time getting around. the food was fair and the dining area's were fine to enjoy yourself, the wait staff were very nice and couldn't do enough to make sure we enjoyed our meals, this applies to all the waiters and waitresses for all meals. all the male bartenders had an attitude,(except the pool bartender, he was a good guy) there were a few female bartenders who were very nice, but the males didn't seem very interested in making drinks and i don't think they know how to smile, even if you tip them they don't seem to care and i tip all the time even though its not required. i was part of a wedding group of about 50 and we all felt the same way about the male bartenders, even the bartenders at our wedding were terrible. the rooms were fair / good, the maid service was great, room service is great, menu has good choices 24/7, and the waiters are very nice. the entertainment was good and there was usually something going on all the time. the dolphin activities in the lagoon were fun to watch at anytime and their trainers are nice, they'll answer any questions you may have and go out of their way to entertain you. i've been to better resorts in mexico, i would return to the dreams resort if the price was right but thats about the only thing that would get me back, there's better resorts that offer more for your dollar. over all i would rate dreams cancun as a fair resort

Beautiful resort, but with some catches.
Eric Nov 4, 2009
The Dreams Resort is a beautiful, tropical oasis! The grounds and rooms are exceptionally clean. There is someone cleaning ... something just about everywhere you look. We were extremely impressed when we were taken to our own receptionist area for the Towers section. We stayed in a jr. jucuzzi suite which had a stunning view. The beach front was perfect as was just about every apsect of the resort. Now for the bad, which really wasn't all that bad. The on-site food is average. Most dishes were very bland in flavor which I am sure is done to please the masses. Even their tacos were plain in taste. The breakfasts were average and contained items that were either cold or mushy. However, I answered this by frequenting the omelette bar. I must state though that I am NOT a buffet-type diner. I'll eat just about anything. But with buffet's- cold, mushy food is almost a given. Our next complaint has to be the alcohol or lack of. I mean the top shelf liquors and American beer selection was one of the reasons we chose this resort over others. We experineced a trip to the D.R in which the only beer they had was Presidente. Well, the beer selection- Corona, Bud Light, Negro _____, was it for beer. And all but one day the Bud Light ran out by around noon. We also discovered that you needed to be adament about getting top shelf liquor in your mixed drinks should you want it. And I mean very stern. Several times I would state Miami Vice, Rum Runner, Pina Coloda, etc with Bacardi and they would use a bottle of the cheap stuff right in front of them. When they would give you top shelf it was used in _very_ small quantities. I then tried ordering my drinks and say double the Bacardi and this usually led to a roll of the eyes or a conversation between the bartender and his buddies in Spanish. I would always ask in a polite voice and a smile on my face only to encounter this. I then found that bringing a $5 bill with me every other round (4 of us) would help. However, we all thought this was bunk being we paid to stay at a 4 star resort that stated top shelf liquors and American beer and still had to tip to get it.We also encountered that the upgraded bar in our room was nothing more special than any other wet bar. We could not 'up' our order. I asked if they could skip the Coke's and just give us Corona's and was told no, each fridge gets the same. I also could not get any liquor in our fridge as I understood we could. Also, our friend's who are a bit more pickey eaters would encounter the eye roll or muttering in spanish when they would make a request like American cheese on their club sandwich, not Swiss. Once I ordered to Daiquiri's with Bacardi and after I corrected the guy to add Bacardi not the cheap stuff my friend said he mumbled something "American" and shook his head as I walked away.In our opinion, we paid to be able to make these decisions. lol To be quite fair, we encountered the biggest problems with some of the guys at the pool bar, snack shack, and the bar in the Tower section. The complete opposite occured to us when we went downtown. The service was extremely polite and we were pampered as if we had hundred dollar bills falling out of our pockets! lolNOW I must say, [...] was fantastic!!! We would give him a $5 tip pleasingly every other order just because he was so pleasant and always had a smile on his face! The guy in the hut by the Kayaks was also extremely nice! We also had a nice bartender in the lobby bar. For whatever reason, it generally seemed to be the elder bartenders that were grouchy. Most of the younger guys and the ladies were very nice.We were very pleased by the events coordinater in the pool area. This guy is a riot! We looked forward to seeing this guy Every Day! We loved our afternoon water volleyball!!! lol They also would set up a big buffet on the lagoon beach and play baseball or football on a huge screen every night. The employees that were good (95%) did a gr...

This is our second trip to Dreams Cancun with a group of 9 friends. We were there previously in 2006. We enjoy this resort ... very much due to its perfect location with 2 beaches to choose from. The eternity pool was a favorite among all of us. The rooms were very clean and the staff was very accomodating and friendly. The bartenders were very friendly and made sure we were consistenly taken care of. Our favorite restaurant was the Seaside Grill by the private, quieter beach. We loved eating there for lunch and dinner and were never disapointed. The Oceana restaurant (seafood restaurant) on the otherhand was awful. The portions were extremely small and not tasty at all. All 9 of us agreed that it was the worst restaurant on the resort by far. Himitsu (asian/sushi) was "just okay"...not spectacular, not awful, but to be truthful, the appetizers were better than the main meals and sushi. The buffet was great for breakfast, and pretty good variety for lunch as well. We had dinner there once which was again disappointing - they need to upgrade their dinner buffet. Overall, you cannot beat the ocean-front rooms, the views are spectacular and the resort is very clean. They may need to upgrade some fixtures eventually as it looked a little more run down from 2006 yet, still a very good resort for all. We are definitely planning on going back however hopefully they will upgrade their menus and actually taste the food they are serving.

We had stayed at this resort in May of '08 and had such a wonderful experience that we thought we would try it again. This ... time was just as wonderful. The only thing to give a slight complaint about was that they did not have all four restaurants open each night, so we had to wait a few times to eat dinner, but this is their slow season, so it was somewhat understandable. Also, if you are looking for an outstanding beach, this is not the place. The beach was adequate, but the pools and lagoon areas more than made up for lack of great beach.

There are many companies that want you to purchase tickets for area attractions from them. They are costly since you have to pay for transportation as part of the package & that cost is per person. We rented a car from the hotel (Avis) for $159 for 3 days and bought tickets at the parks. Example Xcaret ticket at the park is $69 ea. If you buy from vendor in advance, tickets are no less than $99 ea. then cost of transporation of at least $50 per person. If you go to more than 1 park the savings is worth the car rental. Plus you can decide when you leave the hotel and what time you want to leave the parks.

If you want to buy souveniers don't do it at the hotel giftshop. Walk out the main entrance and stay to your left. A little ways down you will see a mall. There are great prices and you can get a lot for very little. We bought 3 t-shirts for 12.00.

There is something going on each night at the resort. Just ask any staff member and they will direct you to it. You do not need to leave the resort to have fun.

Swim with the dolphins! It's pricey, but a once in a lifetime experience, especially for kids.

Avoid the World Cafe @ dinner...it's very mediocre and buffet style.

The hotel has dress codes for its dining areas. So check to be sure that you have the required types of clothing for the restaurants you want to visit. I ended up wearing the same trousers for a couple of nights each because of this. But that didn't diminish my enjoyment of the food!
