casa turquesa

the location of the hotel is not well designed, the access to the hotel is slummy and cramped for vehicle access. The inside of the hotel is really beautiful with gorgeous art work including paintings and sculptures by mexican artists, the rooms are spacious, the pool is beautiful. unfortunately, the service and quality of food is below one star. as we entered our room, there was a basket of fruit with dried out and rotten fruit, no welcome package or book about the hotel, no explanation about room service. the included breakfast was inedible, TERRIBLY DISAPPOINTING! even the scrambled eggs were awful.we ate dinner the first night at the hotel restaurant, it was less than mediocre and unapetizing not to mention outdated decor and music. although, the hotel decor (lobby and room) were a nice start, this place wouldnt get higher than 2 stars for anything else.

Exactly What I Had Hoped For

I've looked forward to writing this since coming back from my trip. Before booking, I had read a previous review for this place which was very favorable and as the place to just relax and unwind. That was exactly what I wanted, and was exactly what I got. No hustle or bustle here, which is hard to find in Cancun. It seems like a place apart, even being on Hotel Row. This place is truly a 5-star resort. Small by comparison (less than 30 suites)it is elegant, quiet, and simply beautifully appointed. I stayed 5 mights, looking to get away from it all, and this place fulfilled every expectation and more with grace and the utmost attention to detail. Prior to the trip, I had some questions and the resort quickly replied to my emails both times. The resort arranged for me to be shuttled from the airport to the resort. Upon arrival, I was sat at a desk for a private check in, during which one of the staff brought me a nice refreshing fruit juice drink. Once in my room, within a half hour, a staff person brought me a silver bowl of fresh fruits and a bottle of very nice champaign on ice. Later the first full day I was there, I arrived back at the room in the afternoon to find a fresh caraff of coffee and small pastries. Pay the extra few bucks to get a suite with an ocean view. My suite featured a covered balcony that had a jacuzzi and table and chairs. The interior of the suite was gorgeous. The suite was spacious, and in addition to the main room, there was a changing room, and separate enclosures each for shower, bath, and toilet. All granite tile floors in every room. There was a large bathtub in a granite tiled alcove, and granite tiled shower stall with heavy glass door. The decor fit the boutique/art gallery theme of the resort. Splendid works of art on the walls. Large flat panel TV. Comfortable couch and chairs. Since it was fairly warm at night at the end of February, my favorite thing was to open the sliding door to the balcony wide and go to sleep with the sea breeze blowing threw the curtains, and the sounds of the ocean lulling me to sleep. No bugs!! Reservations included either breakfast or lunch, of which I only had breakfasts. There was a nice variety of items to order from, some Mexican, but the traditional American egg variations. They start you off with a delicious plate of fresh fruit sliced, and a basket of small Mexican pastries. Breakfasts are served in a very nice octagon shaped building next to the pool and with an ocean view. I had dinner there one night, a cut of steak with salad, vegetables, bread and rice. It was OK, but not gourmet. But with the wonderful dinner options in the Cancun area, many of which are cheaper and better, I would dine out at night. Let me comment on the staff. The service I experienced here was about the best of any place I've ever stayed. They practically tripped over themselves seeing that you are satisfied. Everyone was very polite, respectful and pleasant. Most spoke enough English to understand what you are saying. And they were patient with my terrible Spanglish. The grounds are immaculately kept. The security is ample. The beach is semi-private and because there were not many other guests, I felt like I had the place to myself. I was surprised by how few others were there. A few retired couples, one small business group, and a family with four teens and an ooops child (all the kids were very well behaved). An interesting note about this resort. In talking to one of the shuttle drivers not associated with the resort, he was unaware that the resort had re-opened. What I learned is that Hurricane Wilma pretty much destroyed the resort in 2005. It was closed until about a year or so ago. Suffice it to say, they completely rebuild the interior and the grounds and other facilities and they did a really nice job. The only complaint I had was the really really slow wifi connection. It was slow everywhere in the building, but I think it was an issue bigger than the resort...

DREAM COME TRUE

Casa Turquesa was simply incredible. Clean, quiet, decorative. We stayed in the Honeymoon suite (nido) and seriously it was incredible. We were there on our honeymoon and my new wife and I had the most amazing experience of our lives. When you first walk in the room you go up a winding staircase, until you get to the first floor, where you find a living area, with kitchen, couches, jacuzzi, balcony overlooking the ocean with tables and chairs there. If you continue up the stairs you get to the second floor where you find your kind bed, flat screen, great bathtub, another balcony and another jacuzzi out on the balcony. This room provides more than enough privacy as it stands higher than any other room at the hotel. In fact from the hall way you don't even know the door way is a bedroom door. The service was 5 star quality. They waited on us hand and foot, and literally did everything for us. The food was delicious, best ive had. The beach was calm and low key, where as on both sides of the hotel, it was pretty crazy with tons of people. My new bride and I plan on returning as often as possible. It really is a magical place if you go with a loved one, and are looking to get away from the world, and relax and want to be waited on hand and foot. I loved it. Thanks Casa Turquesa

Beautiful, quiet, and sophisticated

We were the only Americans staying at this hotel, as far as I could tell. This was the choice for someone who wanted to enjoy the beauty of Cancun without the non-stop party atmosphere it is known for. The service staff was attentive, efficient and kind.

Casa Turquesa Cancun

We had a great time. The hotel was small and very relaxing. The staff paid great attention. If you are looking for a party hotel this is NOT it. But we wanted to get away from everything and this hotel was perfect. The location is great and whatever amenities you couldn't find at Casa Turquesa you could find close to the hotel. We had breakfast there one morning and lunch on another day. While the breakfast was perfect, the lunch was not. The only thing I would say they could work on. Staff was very helpful and friendly.

If you want to get away from the party scene, try Casa Ronaldi in Cancun. First bus stop after you leave isla Cancun. It is a local Italian restaurant. Great food, great atmosphere at the fraction of cost of the resort places.
