Los Cabos hotel seduces with Spanish Colonial suites and luxury spa
Villa La Estancia Los Cabos, an intimate 152-room, all-suite property with views of Land's End, epitomizes hacienda luxury. Guests choose from spacious deluxe rooms, suites, villas and penthouses with sweeping views of the water via furnished balconies. Restaurants set the scene for intimacy, thanks to poolside, terrace and beach tables. Nightly themed dinners, a 31,000-square-foot spa and resort activities complete the experience.
Highlights
  • All-suite hacienda-inspired hotel overlooking the Sea of Cortez
  • Lagoon-style pool and Jacuzzi
  • Nightly themed shows, bartending and Spanish lessons
  • A 31,000-square-foot spa and fitness center
Rooms
Villa La Estancia Los Cabos embraces Spanish Colonial style in all 156 suites. No more is that evident than in the villas and penthouses, where soaring ceilings, high-end kitchens and expansive wood-heavy living rooms stir drama. A strong palette of earth tones creates warmth in the rooms, while casual furniture -- iron scroll headboards, oversized loungers and large wood media cabinets -- complete the comfortable look. Shiny marble floors complement beige sponge painted walls. Balconies were made for lingering -- each sports chairs to enjoy the Sea of Cortez views.
Dining
Villa La Estancia Los Cabos keeps its dining options simple with upscale dining at La Casona, where guests feast on Kobe beef and produce sourced from Miraflores farm on a terrace overlooking Land's End. For casual fare, visitors flock to poolside eatery La Parilla, which sports patio tables shaded by umbrellas. In-villa and private beach dining can also be arranged.
Recreation

The 31,000-square foot Desert Spa beckons with a full menu of facials, massages, body treatments, plus a fitness center. Expect to be pampered with natural extracts of agave, melon, noval and lime, along with other fruits and herb ingredients native to the Baja California region.

An activities team at Villa La Estancia Los Cabos keeps guests busy with water volleyball in the lagoon-style pool, bartending lessons, Spanish classes and nightly themed dinners. The staff can also schedule day trips to explore the many diversions in the area, from ATV rentals to luxury yacht charters.

top rate facilities

the resort was excellent. the room was always clean, great workout and spa area, and the pool area and swim up bar were awesome. the only negative was that the hotel restaurant was very expensive. we avoided eating dinner there because downtown cabo is so close and filled with many great, less expensive places to eat. We upgraded to the villa and it was well worth the money. the villa has a full kitchen, huge bathroom with spa tub, and large balcony to relax on.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

downtown cabo is a ten minute walk from the resort, or a five minute cab ride for $7. there are tons of restaurants, bars, shops and the marina right there. Cabo Wabo, Giggling Marlin, Zoo, etc. all in downtown area.

Good location

Villa La Estancia provided a much larger room than many hotels I've stayed in at other resort destinations. Rooms were clean, plenty of closet space, refrigerator, and lots of space to move around in (beds were uncomfortable though). Location good - although just a bit far to walk into town - the cab ride was cheap and quick into town. Always a cab available. Chairs we're comfortable around the pool - pool very clean.

Vegas-Style Resort - But More Expensive

We had a GREAT time at Villa La Estancia. The physical structure was exceptionally clean and beautiful, and the staff was extremely friendly. The pool is immaculate and food and drinks are readily available. One great feature was that you could use the facilities at the two sister properties which are on either side of La Estancia. Any Cabo trip must include a trip to Lover's Beach. We kayaked there once and took a water taxi a second time. Any laying out or swimming in the ocean must be done at Lover's Beach where you are not hasseled by the vendors, get your feet torn up by the sharp sand, or get thrown around in the strong waves (as it is on the beach in front of La Estancia). At the suggestion of the concierge, we purchased the meal plan for $79 per person per day. We discovered that if you intended to regularly eat sit-down meals this was absolutely the way to go; our first lunch of a burger, tamale appetizer, and two beers each cost $72. Turns out those prices aren't just at the resort. Cabo is the most expensive place to dine I've ever been. On the plus side, we drank the water at the hotel and didn't get sick. But, the quality of the food at the resort was inconsistent. One morning birds were landing on the serving spoons at the outdoor breakfast buffet. Our only other real complaint was that not all employees were empowered to help you with a wide range of problems. Each person had their specific job and that was the only thing they could assist you with. Other Americans we met in Cabo told us La Estancia was the nicest resort in the area, and we agreed. But we'll be heading to Vegas next trip to get cheaper food at a more consistent quality.

Great Cabo Spot

The staff was very nice, the grounds were beautifully manicured, the pool was very relazing, the walk into town was very short, the rooms were amazing, however the beds are very uncomfortable.

Nice & Quiet

The hotel was very nice & clean. Our room was a place to sleep, nothing fancy. if you want to spend a little more get a 1 bed villa it comes with a kit. an living room.We didnt because we don't cook on vaction. The onsite store an deli was reasonable.single beers 1.50.breakfast stuff like 6 bucks for two.The resort was beautiful well kept .This resort was for adults. but you could walk down 10 min. to find a wild time!!!Only thing that got on our nerves were the vendors on the beach. The marina district has some really good restaurants an shops.el squid row was a good time along with cabo wabo!! these are places you MUST go when there.

Size matters

Villa la Estancia is good for families given the size of the one bedroom villas and amenities such as the full kitchen and wash/dryer. The beach is nice, but the water is not swimable for kids and the pool has a shallow section for small children, but is often too cold and the kids shiver as a result. Tough to understand why they don't heat the pool a bit more or just allow it to warm up from the sun. Shop at the City Club or Costco for food and avoid the highly overpriced market in the nearby square. We have usually been pretty happy with the scene at the hotel, but this past visit was somewhat marred by some rowdy partiers. It seemed like the resort loosened its standards when it came to cracking down on noise makers at 3 am.

Good location as it's a short cab ride to town but far enough away from the party scene to get some peace and quiet.

Beautiful, comfortable, friendly resort

All condominiums at this resort have an open-air foyer, into which you enter by a beautiful wrought iron door and gorgeous tile floor; a massive wrought iron and glass console table holds a small fountain and lamp to welcome you. Your individual room door is next, consisting of a heavy wooden door with a carved seashell, surrounded by frosted, beveled glass sidelights. Our one bedroom villa, completely tiled with gorgeous travertine marble and accented with ceramic tiles, included a full kitchen, dining room, den, master, two full bathrooms and a huge covered porch, including a gas grill; beware, however, that single rooms and one-bedroom villas SHARE a huge porch, which may or may not have a divider between sections. The master bath had three closets, two sinks, vanity, whirlpool tub, shower, private toilet; the shower was all marble with inlaid mosaic design. The bed was very comfortable, making it a nice blend between firm and soft. Condo was beautifully furnished in a Tex/Mex decor; it was perfect for making you feel comfortable yet aware that you were in Mexico. Our place felt very clean and, even though a condo, had daily maid service and room service available. There are two sister properties, one on each side of Estancia, each with wonderful sea-side restaurants and spas. Palmar includes a small market where we bought all our groceries and bottled water. Estancia has two restaurants, also, but they are pool/gardenside and not as close to the ocean and view as the sister's restaurants. We walked the twenty minutes into town, would only do during daylight, enjoying the view of cruise ships, del Arco and the Sea of Cortez. Be sure to visit the mall, Puerto Paraiso, which is on the marina and has a great souvenir shop and many outdoor restaurants (there is even a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse there). Just across the boat ramp at the marina are many more open-air restaurants and bars; we loved, Ole' Ole', where they cook outside on a gigantic grill and the shrimp were 8 long. If you're lucky, they'll have their Flamenco dancer there when you visit. Be sure to book a sunset cruise and a snorkeling cruise, both of which leave from that marina and are a lot of fun; these are not the obnoxious booze cruises, even though the price includes an open bar. Take time to travel the 30 minutes to, San Jose del Cabo, and enjoy the tree-lined, cobblestone streets and shops, where prices are about 30% cheaper than in Cabo San Lucas. A real treat while there is Tropicana's restaurant and bar, where the three meat fajitas and blackberry Mojitos are awesome!! Overall, we had a ball and consider Villa La Estancia one of the most beautiful and enjoyable places we've ever stayed!
