Great Hotel, Food so so

The staff, fantastic. The rooms, beautiful. The hotel was close enough to walk to the beach bars and only a $9 cab ride to downtown with shops and bars etc. What I didn't like was that the all inclusive wasn't really all inclusive. First, I've stayed in at least 5 other all inclusive resorts in Mexico. This is the only one that charges you for drinks from the mini fridge. No hard alcohol was provided in the room. Also, none of the restaurants served alcohol past 10:30 PM. The taco bar was amazing. The Italian restaurant was terrible. We got seated at 9PM and we didn't even get our food till 9:50 and there were maybe 15 other people in the restaurant at the time. And the food wasn't good. The pizza bar was good and believe it or not the buffalo wings were awesome. If you wanted to go to the steakhouse, that wasn't included in the all inclusive. Everything at the market they have on site was expensive, Hawaii prices. The lounge chairs on the beach were cheap plastic and didn't move out of an uncomfortable position. They charge you $10 a day for wi-fi and a resort fee for the maintenance of the hotel. The hotel was fantastic, but it wasn't great. I don't think it's a 5 star which they claim. They just went too cheap on a lot of things I would have thought would have been included in an all inclusive 5 star. There are probably other hotels out there that were same or better for maybe cheaper

All the beach bars close at 11PM. If you want to stay up later, you have to go to the Puerto Paraiso. Tons of restaurants/bars/clubs, etc.

Will not go back

This hotel is mostly dedicated to sell timeshare... If you are not interested, you will not have the best room ever and in the morning, the breakfast area is crowded with TS sellers and the new comers. The beach area: the chairs are AWFUL!!! The pool area: very noisy but hey! If you don't want to be broken into 2 because of the beach chairs... If you are looking for a relaxing vacation, this is not the place; if you are looking for a lot of´activitites within the hotel, this is not the place. Some of the staff is quite special (they call you baby or honey) but most of them are ok (special mention to some of them that were just outstanding!)

Great getaway vacation

The staff is very friendly and gracious, especially the doormen, groundskeepers and housekeeping. The place is immaculate and a good location, right on the beach. It was great to have the small kitchen so we could make our own snacks and salads and light lunches and breakfasts, makes it more economical than the high-priced restaurants. Our deluxe room had a beautiful view of the pool area and we could even see the arches beyond the beach. The concierge service was really annoying -- they kept trying to make restaurant reservations for us (I'm guessing they get a kickback) and even called at 9 a.m. and woke us up one morning to ask if we wanted restaurant reservations! All the staff is trying really hard to get guests to sign up for the time share breakfast and they offer all kind of discount deals on sightseeing stuff if you agree. Got the suggestion from a review that I read before I left to go to walmart, it's a 10 peso ($1) bus ride for 5 minutes, and bought water, soda, snacks, milk, cereal there for a fraction of what it would cost on the grounds. Excellent idea! Highly recommend it. For sightseeing attractions, you get the best deals ordering from this website before you go -- we did the Wild Canyon zipline; sunset cruise on a catamaran; and pick up and drop off from airport and all provided excellent service and value. We ordered parasailing, jet skiing and glass bottom boat to the arches from a kiosk on the beach at the hotel and all of that worked out great!

Go to shopping center to buy water, soda and snacks; much more cost effective than what you can purchase at the hotel or the market

Love Villa del Arco!

Love the hotel, everything about it! So nice that it's walking distance to the beach bars, Mango Deck & Office, and even the marina and downtown if you wanted, although a $7 cab ride is worth it. We like the all inclusive, for at least a few days. Not really busy during the time we were there. Only complaint is at check in, too much time taken to discuss the timeshare presentation.

OK, but

We checked in and everything was good till the timeshare vultures struck, after running them off, and going to the room is when it got really bad. There was little granules of sand everywhere on the floor, the master suite AC unit did not work that well, there was crusty food on the dishes in the cupboard, the dryer was full of sand, the pillows and sheets were like sleeping on sand paper, I waited two hours for a bag of ice, room service is a minimum 1.5 hours, the toilet was plugged up before we arrived, we had to call housekeeping after two days to get soap and towels and to have them clean our room, it rained before we arrived which means there is only one option for food and there is no AC in this dining room. The beach was good, the surf a little rough, so take a rope to tie your little ones to you, the sand itself is a granite mixture, which is great for exfoliating your feet, but horrible to walk in, take some good walking shoes, flip flops wont cut it. The last straw for me was the beach BEGGERS, they were not allowed to sit in front of the other resorts on the beach so they congregate in front of ARCO, and they won't take no for an answer. They even walk up and sit down in the private lounge areas for the guest, they must be related to the mangers, cause I would have run their butts off! Other than that, I hope you have a better experience than I did at villa del Arco.

First Time Cabo Vacay

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel - however here are a couple things about the hotel: - Internet is ridiculously priced at $12.00 an hour - At check in they make you leave an open credit card for anything you may "purchase" - if you plan on eating there be prepared to have to charge it to your room and also for astronomical prices - $11 for ONE taco - Walmart is close by so my suggestion is go there on your first day and stock up for the week - you have a kitchenette in your room so you can reduce your spending by grocery shopping - There is a little white bus that stops outside the hotel - it costs 10.50 pesos (about a buck each way) per adult and will take you to the center of town (where all the clubs, bars, restaurants, and shops are) and also to Walmart. A taxi is $7.00 - 10.00 USD each way.

This is a very nice resort, prices are high but so are most resorts. We did a timeshare presentation through the hotel and got free swimming with dolphins which was kinda cool.

November in Cabo San Lucas at VDA

This was our first time staying at VDA, we had walked through the property during a previous visit to Cabo and said the next time we came we would give this place a try. First off Pros & Cons of VDA: Pros: -The staff and locals are fantastic, so friendly and helpful. Hotel Management not so much! -Weather hot and sunny for 14 days. -Proximity to town a 10-15 min safe walk day or evening. -If you decide to not pay for All-Inclusive, Wal mart & La Europea will have all the food & booze you could ever need. -Rooms are very spacious with nice kitchens in the 1 Bdrm suites. -Pools are the typical big resort layout, quiet pool, kids pool, loud pool. Nice padded loungers. -Beach is large with one of the only swimming areas, 90% of the beach front has an undertow that makes swimming unsafe. Cons; -Timeshare sharks, you will be offered your "welcome package" and to collect it you are subjected to losing +2-3 hours of your vacation, pass unless you want to sign up. They are relentless, phoned our room every day, I just said later later until they stopped. -The west side of the hotel looks over a swamp, this is "garden view" the noise from the highway, the horns from buses & trucks made us feel like we were back in downtown Vancouver. Add to that the bug population is much greater on this side of the building. -Bugs...OMG, some folks are more susceptible to mosquitoes then others, unfortunately I had to use bug repellent whenever we sat on our ground floor suite as well as when we would go watch the sunsets at night. Daytime around the pool was less of a problem. -Internet, the charge is $12/day however the speed and connectivity is what you would have expected in 1998 with a dial-up modem. A gross overcharge for the level of service. -Management... we were very disappointed with our first room when we went back to the front desk and requested a change we were told the property was fully booked. After not backing down and spending the better part of our first day going back and forth to the lobby, we looked at a number of rooms finally agreeing on a poolside ground unit with an ocean view. As it turned out the property was 65% full at best, I'll never understand why they do this to guests, especially if you're staying for 2 weeks!?! Remember....(polite)squeaky wheel often gets the grease. -The all-inclusive deal is expensive equals +/-$90/day and the food selection is minimal only one restaurant, however you can also go to VDA's sister hotel Villa Del Palmar a 5 min bus ride away to eat there as well. We decided on saving the money, made a few trips to the Wal mart 10 min up the road and took advantage of the full kitchen in our suite. Over-all I would say this property was good value for what we paid. After we were settled in a decent room we enjoyed 13 fabulous days of sunshine and relaxation. There are a lot of options in Cabo, each geared slightly to the vacation you're after, family, adults only, partying, relaxing, adventure, do some homework to get the most out of the thousands of dollars you're willing to spend. After talking to a number of folks, one of the biggest complaints of Cabo are the Timeshare sharks at the airport & hotels. Having been to Cabo before we learned how to avoid these people who will do almost anything get hooked in. If you do get sucked in by them they will literally steal +3 hours of your life that you will never get back and possibly worse get you to hand over +$15,000 of your hard earned money on a really bad deal you can never get out of.
