Villa del Arco is great!

We travelled with family and had been referred to this hotel. It's very nice, the kitchen is great when you don't want to eat out every meal! The hotel rooms were spotless and the pool is beachfront which is great. You can walk to beachfront restaurants like the Office which is awesome or take a water taxi. The poolside taco bar is delish! Great stay for a good price!

Nice Stay at Villa del Arco

We stayed 4 nights and 5 days and left on Monday, September 1st. I’ll try to break down my review into separate pieces and will list them in no particular order. We purchased the all-inclusive package and were not there as time-share owners. Location – The location is excellent. It’s on a swimmable beach and walking distance from the marina and a lively entertainment area. The beach directly in front of the resort is quiet, but there are vendors there. The lounge area is roped off so you will not be approached while you’re relaxing, but you will encounter them as you walk to the beach. They are not high pressure, but there are several of them at any given time. Just say ‘no thank you’ and keep walking and you should be fine. I would rate it 4 stars. Food – Food seemed to be well received by everyone in our party. We ate at 3 of the Villa restaurants; El Faro and El Patron at del Arco, and Bella California at Palmar. As all-inclusive patrons, you have access to both Villa del Arco and Villa del Palmar, which is a short walk or trolley ride away. The only complaint we had was the service was slow at both El Faro and Bella California. I would sit aside 2+ hours for a meal. Bella California was close to three hours. I would rate it 3.5 stars. Service – I was a bit disappointed in the service. I visited Villa del Palmar in PV last year and I thought the service there was clearly better than the Villa del Arco in Cabo. As mentioned above, the service in the restaurants was generally slow. The service around the pool was spotty and the wait staff was generally not as welcoming. I had several great experiences and several not-so-great experiences. It was a mixed bag. I would rate it 3 stars for service. Beach – The water is clear and a great temperature this time of year. It drops off quickly and is probably 6’ deep within 10 yards of walking in. The current can be strong but as long as you’re away from the breakline on the shore, you will be fine, though you will be treading water. We swam daily and loved it. The sand is a little coarse so you may need shoes if you plan on walking the shoreline. The beach is free of seaweed. I would rate it 4 stars. Rooms – Rooms were very nice. We booked a small suite and ended up with a larger suite. Well appointed. Everything you need. Comfortable. AC works well, though the plumbing can be a challenge. Large balconies. Very clean. 4.5 stars. Spa – My wife and a friend purchased massages there and said they were magnificent. 4.5 stars. Appearance – one of the upsides of the constant timeshare presentations is that the resort needs to be presentable at all times. And it is. The grounds, landscaping, pool, etc…were all well-manicured and in nice shape. When you walk out of the glass doors towards the pool you’re immediately greeted with that great view of the “mountains” meeting the ocean in the distant. 4.5 stars. Gym – Fantastic gym. Everything you need. 4.5 stars. Wifi – 0 stars. I understand it is status quo for resorts and hotels to charge for wifi, but the Villa group needs to move beyond that. Bake that into the price of my room if you need to. The last thing you want to feel when you arrive at a resort is being ‘nickel and dimed’. They charge per day, AND PER DEVICE. If you have two devices, you’re paying $20/day in wifi fees, which should be free to begin with. The coverage was decent, but the thought of paying per device was a big turn off. This could be turned into a competitive advantage if they marketed correctly, as free. Timeshare – There are timeshare presentations going on all the time. It’s part of the scene here but I didn’t find them to be bothersome. Music – Music that is played over the speakers throughout the resort can be a little odd. You may want to sit away from one of the many speakers if you are not a fan.

Great location, beautiful resort, perfect for families

Villa del Arco is a beautiful resort near the Marina and the town of Cabo. We enjoyed a fun week here in August. Although it's not the peak season because it is really warm, the ocean is about 82 and the pool is perfect! The beach is directly in front of the resort and you can walk for about 15 - 20 minutes and be either in town or at the office restaurant. Take a water taxi from the neighboring public beach, it's fun! The one bedroom villa rooms are very spacious and easily sleep a family of 4-5 with privacy for the parents! The small kitchen and dining area is perfect for a family who doesn't want to always eat out. The resort has a free trolly that takes you to the sister hotels next door where there is a market, an ATM, an arcade and other pools and places to eat. We enjoyed the poolside dining and yummy taco bar at VDA the most. Staff is friendly and drinks are great! Tip, we didn't do the timeshare presentation and if you really don't want to buy one don't do it. Sure, you could get a free excursion and 15% off drinks but it's about 4 hours of your day and it's like buying a car. We didn't want ANY stress so we skipped it. If you are interested go and bargain like you have never bargained before. I would want most if not all my current stay comped if I were to write a check for a purchase. We only had 6 days and I didn't want to waste any of it because we weren't in the market for a timeshare. The only thing I would warn about is the transport at the airport and arrival. It's a gauntlet of timeshare sharks the minute you get off the plane, walk past them go OUTSIDE and find your shuttle person. Also get an international cell plan and wifi for one day, it allows you to call and book exclusions direct which is cheaper and better. Anything you book through the concierge will be inflated to account for their commission. This hotel is great if you can find a good deal and avoid the timeshare nonsense(unless you are in the market). Tip- call direct the day ahead of arrival and talk to the very nice front desk. Request a high room(level 5-6) tower 1 and 3 are the best. Request a patio level 1 with a gate facing the pool in tower 1 if you have small kids. They can run in and out of your room while you stay pool side.

Great Hotel, Food so so

The staff, fantastic. The rooms, beautiful. The hotel was close enough to walk to the beach bars and only a $9 cab ride to downtown with shops and bars etc. What I didn't like was that the all inclusive wasn't really all inclusive. First, I've stayed in at least 5 other all inclusive resorts in Mexico. This is the only one that charges you for drinks from the mini fridge. No hard alcohol was provided in the room. Also, none of the restaurants served alcohol past 10:30 PM. The taco bar was amazing. The Italian restaurant was terrible. We got seated at 9PM and we didn't even get our food till 9:50 and there were maybe 15 other people in the restaurant at the time. And the food wasn't good. The pizza bar was good and believe it or not the buffalo wings were awesome. If you wanted to go to the steakhouse, that wasn't included in the all inclusive. Everything at the market they have on site was expensive, Hawaii prices. The lounge chairs on the beach were cheap plastic and didn't move out of an uncomfortable position. They charge you $10 a day for wi-fi and a resort fee for the maintenance of the hotel. The hotel was fantastic, but it wasn't great. I don't think it's a 5 star which they claim. They just went too cheap on a lot of things I would have thought would have been included in an all inclusive 5 star. There are probably other hotels out there that were same or better for maybe cheaper

Will not go back

This hotel is mostly dedicated to sell timeshare... If you are not interested, you will not have the best room ever and in the morning, the breakfast area is crowded with TS sellers and the new comers. The beach area: the chairs are AWFUL!!! The pool area: very noisy but hey! If you don't want to be broken into 2 because of the beach chairs... If you are looking for a relaxing vacation, this is not the place; if you are looking for a lot of´activitites within the hotel, this is not the place. Some of the staff is quite special (they call you baby or honey) but most of them are ok (special mention to some of them that were just outstanding!)

Great getaway vacation

The staff is very friendly and gracious, especially the doormen, groundskeepers and housekeeping. The place is immaculate and a good location, right on the beach. It was great to have the small kitchen so we could make our own snacks and salads and light lunches and breakfasts, makes it more economical than the high-priced restaurants. Our deluxe room had a beautiful view of the pool area and we could even see the arches beyond the beach. The concierge service was really annoying -- they kept trying to make restaurant reservations for us (I'm guessing they get a kickback) and even called at 9 a.m. and woke us up one morning to ask if we wanted restaurant reservations! All the staff is trying really hard to get guests to sign up for the time share breakfast and they offer all kind of discount deals on sightseeing stuff if you agree. Got the suggestion from a review that I read before I left to go to walmart, it's a 10 peso ($1) bus ride for 5 minutes, and bought water, soda, snacks, milk, cereal there for a fraction of what it would cost on the grounds. Excellent idea! Highly recommend it. For sightseeing attractions, you get the best deals ordering from this website before you go -- we did the Wild Canyon zipline; sunset cruise on a catamaran; and pick up and drop off from airport and all provided excellent service and value. We ordered parasailing, jet skiing and glass bottom boat to the arches from a kiosk on the beach at the hotel and all of that worked out great!
