Rooms
RIU Palace Cabo San Lucas All Inclusive utilizes bold design elements -- thick columns and lovely arches, for example -- to stir drama in its 642 rooms. A tropical palette grounded in rich ambers, coppers and browns keep the rooms warm and inviting. Lavarino Cosso bath amenities, a minibar and a restockable liquor dispenser add to the comfort, while balconies beckon guests to take in the garden or ocean views. Suites pay extra attention to pampering thanks to a hydro-massage bath tub, shower cabin and bathroom.
Dining
The restaurant options are vast at RIU Palace Cabo San Lucas All Inclusive. In addition to 24-hour room service, patrons can visit the many buffets and a la carte eateries offering international dishes and on-the-spot cooking stations. Four restaurants -- Misaki, Grill and steakhouse, Mexican cuisine and Krystal Restaurant -- require reservations.
Recreation

A sprawling pool serves as a center for activity at RIU Palace San Lucas All Inclusive, where guests can take scuba lessons or float up to the swim-up bar for a refreshing cocktail. For fitness enthusiasts: an on-site gym, tennis and volleyball courts. For parents: daily supervised activities for kids ages 4 to 7 and 8 to 12 at RiuLand.

Day trip excursions are heavy on water sports, including sailing, jet skiing and parasailing (fees apply), while nightfall brings live musicians.

The Palace was the place to be

First off - Cabo San Lucas is the cleanest city in Mexico I have been too. The RIU Palace was in great shape. I went next door to the RIU Sante Fe to see how it was and it was over-crowded. It was definitely worth the extra money to stay at the Palace. The food was good. The afternoon Italian buffet was excellent and the Steak House at night was my favorite. The rooms were decent yet turned over twice a day with unlimited access to the fridge and liquor. The only issue I had was with the bartenders. You had to watch them pour your drink. If you ordered an Absolut and cranberry and you were not watching them (I would have someone else watch) you would get the cheap vodka. I experienced this at different bars on the resort which made me think it was the hotel's policy. I once caught a lady mixing me a drink with the bottle that just reads Vodka and she told me I was wrong. I left the hotel a lot so I wasn't sitting at the bar all day and night. However, I thought this was poor and dishonest customer service.

What is that smell?

Many of the reviews from unmentioned travel review sites... mentioned a "musty" smell and that was NO lie. And I think musty might be a bit generous. We had to stop having the room cleaned daily and refused the nightly turn down service because the cleaning people would close windows and then the smell was intolerable. At a beachfront resort you expect a little "beachy" odor and it's lovely to have the door open at night but that smell is beyond reasonable for a "4 star" resort. As for the rest of the experience it was nice, the food was what you expect at an all inclusive and the staff was friendly. The pool broke one day but they repaired it by the following day, things like that happen so who can you blame? It was great but I would not return at that price, with that smell.

Overall a good time

First impressions is everything and it wasn't the best first impression. We had to change rooms 3 times with no help with our luggage and a annoyed staff member at the check-in desk. First room - we had 2 double beds resevered and received a room with a king. Second Room - Dead bugs on the wall and bathtub had stuff on it that was undeterminable (blood or rust#. Third Room - ceilinig fan#which was fixed half way through our trip# and one of the lamps by the bed weren't working. After moving our luggage around we decided to stick with room number 3 as the AC worked and wasn't a big deal that the fan wasn't. Mid-way through our trip our keys were inactivated and I'm assuming it was because our checkout date was wrong in the sysetm. Wireless was a bit of a pain as only one person can use it at a time and the code didn't always work and didn't work everywhere. We had to get a new wifi code which worked like a charm but again limited as to where the wifi worked. Despite all this we decided we weren't going to dewell on the negative and have us a great time and that we did. Staff and food made up for the not so great first impression. The staff works extremely hard and always had a smile on their face #unless of course you forgot to tip them). Entertainment was good and gavbe us something to do in the evenings.

wifi

the wifi signal in the rooms are very weak. i had to stand in my bathroom to use my wifi. i would recomend a hotspot or maybe having the hotels boost the signal to the rooms better.

So-so

Like eating at buffet world everyday. Theme restaurants impossible to get into unless you line up for hours. Food sucked anyway. Watered down drinks. They fill up Don Julio bottles with some concoction that tastes horrible, and you think your drinking premium. Good for 18 year old party spot where food and booze quality is of no concern.

Just Average

Nothing too exciting about this hotel... I give the food a C- grade, the bed - D. Most of the hotel staff was nice but we did encounter some pretty mean servers that could care less about us. Also, there's no TV in front of the bed which sucks if you ask me! We ended up downgrading from a junior suite to a regular ocean view room which was better and we were able to rearrange the room and get the tv in front of the bed! BTW, their TV are antiques, no flat screens!!

Fabulous family celebration

We planned our trip almost a year in advance. There were 15 of us, all over 21. The service was awesome. The staff regularly checked in with us, eager to please. Lots of good food. We participated in water aerobics, Spanish lessons, themed meals, and evening shows. With the great location, swimming in the Sea of Cortez was awesome. The hotel had a life guard on duty and there was water taxi service from the hotel to town. We were able to book a great zip line excursion too. We are already talking about our next get away at looking at other RIU locations!

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

The city bus picks up and drops off at the hotel gate. For a little more than 50 cents each way, it's a great way to go shopping or down town and interact with lots of friendly locals.

My first all-inclusive, and my first RIU

The Palace is, on my opinion, ideally located about a 30 minute walk/10 minute cab ride to downtown. Not in the heart of Cabo but close enough you can easily get there. The amenities were plentiful, multiple restaurants, pools, bars, and even a club. There was not one moment of wondering what to do the entire trip. I stayed 4 days, three nights, and whether I was hanging out at the poolside bar with friends, or heading into town for some raucous night life, there was not one minute of boredom to be found. The low was the stairs, the elevators were separated by good distances, and while there were some ramps it was usually faster to take stairs, but with basically five floors I was getting a calf workout every time I wanted to move location. The high was the staff, they were simply always happy and working tirelessly, very friendly and made the experience enjoyable at every interaction.

Be sure to book your reservations early for the multiple reservation only restaurants, the buffet is serviceable, but you really want to eat the better food at the reservation restaurants. Especially Krystal, reserving late means you wont get in so book that as early as possible.
