Grandiose all-inclusive Los Cabos hotel entices with leisure activities
Pristine and palatial, RIU Palace Cabo San Lucas All Inclusive attracts every category of traveler, from honeymooners to parents with children in tow. With 642 rooms and a sparkling, massive pool heightening the appeal, the hotel manages its size well with plenty of a la carte and buffet restaurants and a thick roster of leisure activities. Kids clubs for the under-12 set add to the allure.
Highlights
  • Luxury all-inclusive resort with 642 rooms
  • Introductory scuba diving lesson in the pool
  • Supervised RiuLand kids clubs for children ages 4 to 7 and 8 to 12
  • Multiple a la carte and buffet options
Rooms
RIU Palace Cabo San Lucas All Inclusive utilizes bold design elements -- thick columns and lovely arches, for example -- to stir drama in its 642 rooms. A tropical palette grounded in rich ambers, coppers and browns keep the rooms warm and inviting. Lavarino Cosso bath amenities, a minibar and a restockable liquor dispenser add to the comfort, while balconies beckon guests to take in the garden or ocean views. Suites pay extra attention to pampering thanks to a hydro-massage bath tub, shower cabin and bathroom.
Dining
The restaurant options are vast at RIU Palace Cabo San Lucas All Inclusive. In addition to 24-hour room service, patrons can visit the many buffets and a la carte eateries offering international dishes and on-the-spot cooking stations. Four restaurants -- Misaki, Grill and steakhouse, Mexican cuisine and Krystal Restaurant -- require reservations.
Recreation

A sprawling pool serves as a center for activity at RIU Palace San Lucas All Inclusive, where guests can take scuba lessons or float up to the swim-up bar for a refreshing cocktail. For fitness enthusiasts: an on-site gym, tennis and volleyball courts. For parents: daily supervised activities for kids ages 4 to 7 and 8 to 12 at RiuLand.

Day trip excursions are heavy on water sports, including sailing, jet skiing and parasailing (fees apply), while nightfall brings live musicians.

Another great stay

This was the second time we stayed RIU Palace. The staff was very friendly. The entertainment staff do a fantastic job during the day poolside and at night for the shows. The dinners at the restaurants were all great. The steak at Krystal was so good that we went back a second night. We would highly recommend the Palace.

The Oceanside Suite

If you are staying here it may be worth the price to get an Ocean side suite. It is about 4 times as large as regular rooms but more importantly the balcony opens to the ocean. We ate at the Japanese restaurant and the buffets the only slight negative is the food is average at best. However the choices and varieties are plentiful. I traveled with a group of friends and we stayed at the resort a couple of nights and had a great time. It was also very easy to have a cab take us out into town for a long night (very long night!) for only $3 US.

Great place for cocktails

Very nice resort, the food was below average but okay. The alcohol was higher end and did not stop flowing even for those that did not tip at all. It is kind of a party atmosphere and a great overall trip - one of the best I've had in years.

Nightlife tip: Short drive from hotel

The bartender at the Saloon is worth the trip, he's like a guy from cocktail only better.

NOT WHAT I EXPECTED...

The food was absolutely awful...drinks were disgusting as they were watered down and a funky taste. The room smelled really bad like mildew. I have been to other all inclusives before and this was nothing like them. The resort itself is nice but that is about it.

Cabo Getaway, Just Okay

The food was good and the wait staff were very kind and efficient. Room amenities were as expected, but nothing spectacular. The pool area was large and the general decor nice, however I've seen better in Cabo.

The good, the bad, and the ugly.

The RIU is a nice hotel, there are pro’s and con’s. The pro’s: the food service staff is great and very accommodating, the entertainment staff is wonderful, the rooms are kept very clean. The con’s; the concierge “service” leaves quite a bit to be desired, and the beach area is not at all relaxing, the maintenance crew may keep you up at night. Depending on which concierge you speak with, you may, or may not get dinner reservations at an actual restaurant your entire stay, and end up paying quite a bit for buffet dinners. You aren’t told by the front desk that you need to make dinner reservations if you want to eat in a restaurant. When you ask the concierge about making a reservation, you are told all the restaurants are booked up and you can be put onto a waiting list, that you will be contacted by a note to your room if there are cancellations. You are told that you need to make reservations in the morning, the day you wish to eat at the restaurant, but if you try to make a reservation after 8 am, you most likely won’t get dinner reservations. You can’t call from your room to make a dinner reservation; you must be there in person. You may be told that you can make dinner reservations in advance for the duration of your stay by one concierge, but if you talk with another concierge, you are told you cannot make dinner reservations until the day of. Walk by their steak house during either of the seating times, 6:45 or 8:45, you will see that about half of the tables are set for service, the rest of seating area may be about 85 – 90 % full. For what a person pays for “all inclusive” you should be able to get a good sit down meal every night, not a buffet, unless that is what you want, an expensive buffet. The beach area: the beach peddlers make the beach almost miserable. They set up shop a few feet from the beach lounge area; they block the sounds and view of the ocean, and they take away from the scenery. They stand there with armfuls of blankets, hats, jewelry boxes full of silver plated stuff, t-shirts, kites, Cuban cigars (which aren’t really Cuban), etc. and ruin the peace of relaxing on the beach. They constantly yell out to everyone walking along the beach “hey buddy, you want a water taxi” or “hey, you need a (fill in the blank)” constantly whistling to you, trying to get your attention. They ride their ATV’s and horses up to the lounging area and yell out to the group, making constant noise and again, removing any relaxing moments you may be having. Everyone needs to make a living, that is understood, but to allow the beach peddlers to stand there literally all day blocking the view and yelling to the clientele, like I said, makes the beach area a pretty miserable area to relax. Finally, some of the maintenance crew works at night, they should know not to repeatedly slam the access doors that are along the hall/walk way. It happened two of the nights we were there; they were opening up the small wood doors that line the walkway, on the wall that is behind every room bathroom, do something that took a few minutes, slam the door, go to the next one, open it, do something, slam the door – up and down the hallway. It lasted for a short time, but it happened a few nights we were there, it’s rude. By the way, at this “all inclusive” place you have to pay to play pool too, which we found odd.
