it was okay ... but not 5 stars unfortunately

My boyfriend and I spent 5 nights, garden level rooms. The hotel is about 40-50 minutes from the airport, which is a little far but for the location I think it was worth it. The resort is on the pacific side so the waves were very strong, which was cool to watch but don't expect to be spending any time in the ocean. The sunset resort is big and confusing but I think it is work the hike to see the skyview pool all the way at the top of the mountain. The first night we had to stay in a room with two queens as there were supposedly no rooms with king beds. This was my first red flag. What kind of five star resort cannot even accommodate you with the correct room or even give you a better room to make up for the mistake? It was very annoying to have to repack all my stuff after the first night. We were placed in a king bed room for the rest of the nights thankfully. On the last night our balcony had so many bugs that we could not sit outside, which was very upsetting. The so-called exterminator came in twice but it did not help. The rooms were nicely decorated, with stone accents. Bed was comfy but not the comfiest. I liked how if you opened the door the ac automatically shut off. The bathrooms were nicely decorated as well however the shower's water pressure was not so great and the towels were rough, not nice and fluffy. No snacks in the mini bar - only beer, water and soda. The food was great but service at times was not so great. Little things go a long way such as giving cream/milk when you ask for coffee, etc. etc. My orders got messed up multiple times (I just stared not to care after a point) and sometimes the beverages brought out had bugs in it. You could tell some of the servers were more experienced than others. Also, I realized to always order fish at all restaurants: catch of the day at siempre, sashimi and pescados, fish tacos by the pool. They have very fresh fish and it is delicious! Also I had two incidents where they couldn't find the dinner reservation I made. I realize you have to actually go to the restaurant to make a reservation (versus calling over the phone to their designated line) as they simply write it in a book rather than entering it in a computer system. We ordered room service twice and the service was slow (they said 30-40 minutes but it was more like over an hour) but the quality was about the same. I only tried the yoga class and it was very nice to have next to the beach. There were many other activities offered as well, however I did not try them. The overall decor of the hotel is very nicely maintained. The all adults only aspect was great and I definitely saw the difference when I visited the sunset resort. I would return to cabo but most likely not to this hotel. For the price I paid it was not a five star experience although I give them credit for trying.

It was nice, one of the better places in Cabo

I have stayed at a few all inclusive places and this one ranks right in the middle. Positives: New and clean resort Most of the employees were nice and eager to help, some were not. Siempra and Sushi restaurant was delicious. Apolo was the greatest, highly entertaining and friendly bartender who also ran a few activities. Spa is nice although pricey. Not too many people which made it nice to get a pool side chair or reservation but maybe we picked a good time to travel. Away from everything I hate about Mexico (vendors, noise, crowds and locals) Weather is great. It's in the pacific side so the humidity is not as bad and you get a nice breeze. Negatives At checkin they ask you to take part of a timeshare presentation. Not ALL inclusive, if you want some higher food and too shelf liquor then you have to pay a premium. Expect to tip or be ignored. Most all inclusive have a "no tip policy", not the case here. Most bartenders ignore you if you forgot your cash in your room or don't want to swim with it. Small. We experienced everything the resort had to offer in one day. Gym is small Rooms are small Buffet is average at best. You have to pay for prime beds on the ocean. Construction, they were expanding the spa so we heard jack hammers and banging all day, they just started on 8/8/2014 so beware, should take a few months. Spa appointments were in other rooms so it wasn't that quiet or relaxing Spa was EXPENSIVE.

An excellent honeymoon

It was a perfect resort for a honeymoon! It was quiet and secluded, and best of all no kids!. I will say that the the all inclusive needs to be better explained upon arrival and ability to get anywhere outside the hotel can be pain. Also a plus would be the ability to freely move from all the other sister hotels was a nice feature. My wife and I would definitely return to the Pacifica again!!

Perfect Place to Relax

We went to celebrate our anniversary and we really wanted a get-away to get some much need R&R. This was really the perfect place to do that. If you are going to Cabo to party this is not the hotel for you. Its about 15 minutes from downtown but they do provide a free shuttle that leaves every hour. It was perfect for us because we'd go downtown to the chaos and then back to the zen feeling of the hotel. The staff was great and super friendly; they all spoke excellent english. The all-exclusive element made this a great deal. The drinks were strong and free but the food was alright; however the food was better than the sister hotels (not very authentic Mexican food, very americanized). The rooms are very accommodating and have great views of the wild pacific ocean. We slept with the sliding door open and listened to the crashing waves. The rooms were also very clean and furnished beautifully. My husband and I would definitely go back. Oh, and the spa was amazing!

Pueblo Bonita Pacific

The Pacifica is a great hotel/resort for those wanting to get away. The beach is exclusively for guests (although You can not swim in the ocean because of riptide) is clean and amazing views. The food is delicous, and the pools are amazing. Their spa is also top notch. We really enjoyed relaxing by the pools and enjoying the views.

Great location

The location and atmosphere of this hotel is amazing! After checking into the Pacifica, my husband and I were taken to our ocean front room. Unfortunately, the room had such a large musty odor that we had to change rooms. Being that this was a holiday weekend, we had to settle for ocean view, which in reality should be called semi ocean view, but that aside, that was the only disappointment with the facility. The resort is what you are of it. If you nit pick it, you will be disappointed because you are looking for flaws. If you relax and enjoy the peace and calm, you will have amazing time.

Decent place, do not expect 5 stars!

Overall, I would recommend the resort if you are comfortable with mediocre food and service in a charming setting. The hotel grounds are very lovely and it's location is unique. It is located on the Pacific Ocean, while a lot of Cabo hotels are on the Sea of Cortez. While this sounds ideal, the Pacific Ocean is not swimmable in this area due to strong currents, so if you are expecting a real beach vacation (i.e. sitting on lounge chairs on the beach and swimming in the ocean), you will not be getting it. The food by the pool was edible (definitely not good by any standards!) and the restaurants were the same. We did have an excellent meal at two of the sister hotels- lunch at the Sky Pool (Sunset Beach resort) and dinner at Fellini's (Rose resort). The appearance of the resort is five stars, but all other aspects such as food, service and spa are lacking.

Relaxing Place to visit

Overall the resort was very nice, quiet, clean and a great place to unwind and relax. We had a great view of the ocean and our room was a good size. Room service was very quick and housekeeping kept the room nice and clean. There are only 3 places to eat on site. Siempre, the pool/buffet and the Sushi place. We were suprised at how good the buffet was, and it was sit down and you ordered from a menu. The only buffet part was the salad bar and desert bar. The staff was friendly and accomodating. We used the gym and it had all the equipment that you would need with good tv's. My only comment would be at check in...Just watch out for the time-share portion. But some people want to hear about it to get the credits.

Nightlife tip: Short drive from hotel

If you want to go into town, take the shuttle to the other resort in Cabo. It's about a 10min walk to the Marina and the night life. And to get back a cab is about $10.

Relaxed location - very secluded; staff could be better

The location of this resort is great if you're looking to get away from the hustle-bustle of San Lucas. The resort has a "spa" type feel to it and is very secluded from other resorts. The view is of the Pacific, so there isn't any swimming at the beach. The sister resort up the hill is much larger and has better dining options, but with free shuttles running all day it was much better to be at the smaller resort that's less crowded and easier to navigate (you need golf carts for transport at the sister resort). Additionally, with shuttles running to the sister resorts in Cabo San Lucas right on the beach, it's still easy (and free) to get into town for excursions or a day at the beach. The all-inclusive food was just what you'd expect: some restaurants and choices were average, but there were others that were fantastic and delicious. The doormen and lobby staff are fantastic - absolutely top-notch. They get to know you, ensure you are taken care of, and are always on top of their game. The concierge staff is definitely above average and willing to help as well. The main area of improvement should come in the restaurants; despite the fact that most weren't full, it seems like they were severely understaffed. This meant long wait times, followed by the server always appearing rushed and behind. Overall, it's a great couples or group getaway if you're going for the quiet scene (which we were). It wasn't quite up to the Palace Resorts we've stayed at previously in Cancun/Cozumel, but we still had a great time and enjoyed most aspects of the resort.

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

Use the sister resort shuttles! They go up the hill to the Sunset Beach resort non-stop, and the shuttles to the resorts in town leave on the hour (and will save you $25-35 in taxi fare!).
