it was okay ... but not 5 stars unfortunately

Would not recommend Sat, Jul 12, 2014
My boyfriend and I spent 5 nights, garden level rooms. The hotel is about 40-50 minutes from the airport, which is a little far but for the location I think it was worth it. The resort is on the pacific side so the waves were very strong, which was cool to watch but don't expect to be spending any time in the ocean. The sunset resort is big and confusing but I think it is work the hike to see the skyview pool all the way at the top of the mountain. The first night we had to stay in a room with two queens as there were supposedly no rooms with king beds. This was my first red flag. What kind of five star resort cannot even accommodate you with the correct room or even give you a better room to make up for the mistake? It was very annoying to have to repack all my stuff after the first night. We were placed in a king bed room for the rest of the nights thankfully. On the last night our balcony had so many bugs that we could not sit outside, which was very upsetting. The so-called exterminator came in twice but it did not help. The rooms were nicely decorated, with stone accents. Bed was comfy but not the comfiest. I liked how if you opened the door the ac automatically shut off. The bathrooms were nicely decorated as well however the shower's water pressure was not so great and the towels were rough, not nice and fluffy. No snacks in the mini bar - only beer, water and soda. The food was great but service at times was not so great. Little things go a long way such as giving cream/milk when you ask for coffee, etc. etc. My orders got messed up multiple times (I just stared not to care after a point) and sometimes the beverages brought out had bugs in it. You could tell some of the servers were more experienced than others. Also, I realized to always order fish at all restaurants: catch of the day at siempre, sashimi and pescados, fish tacos by the pool. They have very fresh fish and it is delicious! Also I had two incidents where they couldn't find the dinner reservation I made. I realize you have to actually go to the restaurant to make a reservation (versus calling over the phone to their designated line) as they simply write it in a book rather than entering it in a computer system. We ordered room service twice and the service was slow (they said 30-40 minutes but it was more like over an hour) but the quality was about the same. I only tried the yoga class and it was very nice to have next to the beach. There were many other activities offered as well, however I did not try them. The overall decor of the hotel is very nicely maintained. The all adults only aspect was great and I definitely saw the difference when I visited the sunset resort. I would return to cabo but most likely not to this hotel. For the price I paid it was not a five star experience although I give them credit for trying.

Fantastic visit to PB Pacifica

Would recommend Tue, Jun 10, 2014
Exceptional quality and value for the price. I can start with my only complaint, which I was fully aware of going in is that this resort sits on the Pacific side, so there is NO going in the ocean there. Don't even try. Honestly other than that, the resort was great. Drinks were strong (didn't expect that). Service was polite and quick. The main restaurant was outstanding. Significantly higher quality than standard buffet line fare I expected at an all inclusive. Sushi restaurant on site also included, room service included... free shuttles to their other 3? resorts where all of their bars and restaurants were included. The scenery is amazing and the place is super well kept. I heard that the buffet that they do offer isn't that great. Dunno, we didn't even eat it. Why bother when there's a 4-5 star restaurant 20 yards from there?

Money saver

Take the free shuttles to the other resorts which make the downtown and marina areas easily accessible, saving 14 bucks each way on a roundtrip. We found that this negated the fact that this resort was "off the beaten path".

Romantic getaway!

Would recommend Mon, Jun 2, 2014
Love the location of this hotel. It is away from downtown, adults only. The best part was there were no locals harassing us to buy stuff on the beach. We went to Pueblo's other locations downtown and the beaches were so crowded with tourists and locals that it was overwhelming. We couldn't wait to get back to our quiet, beautiful hotel. The food was not as great as we expected but still good. Room service took a long time and no one answered several time to take our reservations. Other than that the staff was very polite and helpful. Beautiful beach but you can not swim there so we had to go into town to do our snorkeling trip.

5 Star?

Would recommend Fri, May 23, 2014
Driving up to the hotel, it was nice to see security for the "members only" Felt very safe. The hotel grounds were beautiful and well kept. When you get to the hotel, you are greeted with a glass of champagne and a cool towelette. The check in was very easy. We went with the all inclusive and it is totally cash free. Of course in the fine print it says that, and we were tipping our waiters on top of that! Wish we had read the details. You really could just eat and then get up and walk out with out any cash . The Sunday buffet was wonderful but the meals in the main restaurant after that was hit and miss. One evening we ordered steak and of course that took a while, but in about 30 minutes the waiter came out to say that they were out of steak and if we would prefer fish. Of course we said that was ok, but within 3 minutes we were served our steak? Not sure what that was about. I would not recommend room service. We ordered at 7:30 one morning and they said it would be there in 35 minutes and about an hour we called to check on our service and they said it was on it's way. When we did get the meal, it was cold and they did not even bring silverware, which again took some time. By that time we told them to take it away since we had to leave by 9:00. The manager did call us and asked us if we would like to be re-served and by then we were leaving to go to town. The buffet at the pool was good, but just because you have a lot does not mean it is 5 star. It was plentiful, but bland. Take the shuttle to the Sundown for the Bistro. It was the most flavorful and far better selections. Do not stay here if you are looking for nightlife. We were on our honeymoon so it worked well for us. Very laid back and relaxing.

Great Cabo visit at PB Pacifica

Would recommend Wed, Feb 26, 2014
arrived in Cabo and promptly met by arranged transfer to hotel. Greeted with a Margariatta, bags taken care of, staff extremely courteous. Hotel is located away from other distractions but only a short 10 minute taxi($12) into town or a free shuttle to the sister hotel PB Rose. If you are an ocean person, swimming is not available at the Pacifica due to rip currents but nice walks on the beach, very quiet. A quick trip to the Rose hotel allows you to swim in the ocean. Food was very good and service fantastic. Theme buffets allows the food to change for different tastes although we found the Siempre restaurant to have nice menu options and the quality of food was excellent. Drinks are top shelf- must visit the Tequila bar. Very happy with this hotel, planning next years visit already.

Nightlife hint

It is spoken that you can take a free shuttle from the Pacifica to the Rose which is true and then walk ~4 blocks into the marina and town. It's a bit longer than that and the route is not well marked. If walking in the heat is a bother, consider taking a taxi from the Pacifica into town at your destination. Only $12 which does add up but for those with injury, a consideration.

Scammed by staff !

Would not recommend Tue, Feb 18, 2014
Went fishing while at resort and brought our catch back to chef - told us it would be $10 to prepare it for us. One of my party signed the check and tipped waiter $10 (amount was in pesos and it's all inclusive so no food bill). Next morning at checkout credit card was charged $200 (not $20)- after a large dispute they agreed to refund $90 but claimed the tip had been disbursed and would not be refunded. Would not stay here as you can't trust staff or management.

Dining

Hotel too far from town (winding 20 min taxi that is very bumpy) - can't trust staff at restaurant - would bring your own food if you want to eat.

great vacation

Would recommend Sat, Jan 25, 2014
we had a great experience! there are 4 hotels that you can use with the all inclusive and the pacifica was by far the best with personal customer service. Anytime you come back to the hotel they are always welcoming back. The only thing that was not great was the drive from the airport... its roughly an hour drive, but so worth it. You can't swim at the beach at the pacifica, but you can take the shuttle to sunset and then they can take you to the rose where you can swim. we had reservations at the bistro and siempre. I enjoyed the siempre the best... ordered the filet. Breakfast was good as well! This hotel was so peaceful! We went to the spa and did a couples massage... this was awesome! we also did the glass boat/snorkel excursion... water was a little chilly but it was fun. once you are almost out of the airport and when you first arrive at the hotel they try to sell you specials for timeshares... our experience was easy to walk away from. I will say there was not much for entertainment at this hotel, but the shuttle runs until approx 11 at night so you could catch a free ride or get a taxi. We used the shuttle the entire time so we didn't pay anything... but I think it may cost about 8$ to take you. We also used the shuttle to and from the airport (greyline) we did not have any issues with them either. I would def go back! Wish our flight would have been on time and we could have been there another day!

every meal was excellent -- top shelf beverage options --not one of those mega resorts --well designed hotel grounds with a great pool and swim bar--all rooms appear to have ocean view -- hotel is not that old--would go back

Just OK, definitely needs work

Would not recommend Fri, Jan 3, 2014
I have visited a lot of all inclusive resorts and this one was just ok. Food and alcohol were decent, but the room and service needs a lot of work. When we got there we were bombarded by someone trying to get us to do a timeshare presentation, she managed to get $20 bucks from me but when I never showed up for the appt said the $20 was at the other resort and there was no way to get to it before my flight. We stayed over New Years and our room was $600 a night, so definitely pricey. The resort gets no cell service and their WIFI is shotty at best. No bathtub in the room which for $600 a night is ridiculous. Room size was not great and the pillows were stiff as a rock. The elevator didn't work when we got there so we had to haul our luggage up three flights, no big deal but again when you're paying a 5 star price you want a 5 star resort. The alcohol selection was pretty good, but service around the pool was really bad the first day and a little better the following days. The breakfast brunch was pretty good and the service in there much better. Fridas had a great dinner but they were all filled up and quite rude to us when we stopped by to see if they could squeeze us in at 5:30, we happend to luck out becuase of a cancellation and got in at 9 p.m. but wasn't stoked on the rude guy at the Frida restaurant. I did misplace my sunglasses and the hotel found them and returned them which I was utterly shocked at being in Mexico. The sky pool was awesome. One of the worse parts though was when you take the shuttle from Pacifica to Sunset there is an area that you pass with the most god awful stench, like leaky sewer and it's just disgusting. Chances are we won't return, we've stayed at much better in Cabo and a million times better in other places in Mexico. Also, the male staff was somewhat rude to my husband and my friend's boyfriend which I found a little strange.
