Los Cabos is at the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California peninsula. Approaching the Sea of Cortez by air the visitors experience a wide contrast between the miles of golden beach, blue waters and the dramatic red rock formations; Suaguro cactus, palms and cultivated gardens cover the pale gold desert landscape. Los Cabos is divided into three distinct areas- SAN JOSE DEL CABO, near the international airport is a picturesque and historic colonial town filled with quaint shops and restaurants. CABO SAN LUCAS, 20 miles south, is home of many world-class hotels, fine restaurants and a very active nightlife. It's definitely the busy part of Los Cabos. Three and a half stars

While the ME Cabo is definitely a decent, even nice hotel, I don't believe the entire experience is four star. The food for instance is chain restaurant quality at boutique prices. Definitely not worth it. And while we are on the subject of worth it, the drinks definitely are not. I will admit I am probably spoiled by Los Angeles mixologists, but these drinks were average at best. The decor and vibe of the hotel are fun, and young, but our original room felt like we were in the middle of a disco. Thankfully, the kind staff moved us, but I don't believe I would have slept if they hadn't. There is also the delicate subject of the unsubtle aroma wafting throughout the hotel, sometimes sneaking up and strangling you- at one point my sister started gagging in the elevator. I will admit, we are very sensitive to smells, but herein lies the problem: why would a four-star hotel need to carelessly spray a strong scent all over the hotel? One day we saw a fumigator. Yes, a fumigator -we asked. Could it be that this horrible lemony scent is really just bug spray?! I can't answer that for sure, but it was strong and unpleasant, and gave us headaches. We asked the staff to keep it out of our rooms. Things I did like: The lobby is beautiful and well-designed, if not a little worn. The rooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable. The best part of the hotel is the pool and beach. The amenities are fun, well-designed, and comfortable, and there is no fee for the cabanas; we LOVED that, and really that alone made it worth it. The beach, while busy, is where the action is, and is also where the waves are less scary. A great location, particularly if you are into action and swimming.

We were absolutely BLOWN AWAY be the food at Peacock, so much so that we asked to meet the chef, and went back a number of times. Really, the food at Peacock was the highlight of our trip. It was mostly organic, grown on site, or specialty-raised. Chef Emmanuel is a true artist; inventive, devoted, and a producer of the highest quality.

    Upsell on everything!

Went for a bachelor party and booked the trip 5 months in advance requesting 2 beds (for the bachelor and I). Upon arrival, we were told that only single bed rooms were left. The only option we had was to upgrade for an additional $60/night (they didn't mention that taxes are 30% on top of that). Other people in our group checking in right after us got 2 beds even though they booked online one month after us. I tried to explain to them that this was the bachelor's room and that our total group booked 11 rooms with them that weekend. The host did not care and kept insisting that the only thing she could do was upgrade or give us the single bed. The bachelor was getting irritated and just said to go with it. I asked to pay $30/night instead of the $60/night and the host was able to negotiate to $40/night. When they brought the paperwork back, it said "Upsell upgrade" $40/night. I was very irritated with this. The upgraded room was no bigger than the other rooms, we were just on a higher level than our friends. Internet wifi pricing was very odd. They charge $20 for three days, and $45 for five days (up to two devices). I don't understand why they even offer that package when I can just buy two three day passes (totaling 6 days) for $40 instead of one five day pass for $45. With regards to the hotel atmosphere and party scene, it was a good time. We happened to be there for the annual white party which was just as expensive as a Vegas club but definitely a good time. The music/dj's during the weekend pool parties were good, but very EDM heavy on the rotation. Overall I had fun, but I just can't stand the fact that they try to upsell on everything.

    Amazing family getaway

We absolutely loved our stay. Had some issues with the initial room provided to us. but made staff aware that we were not satisfied and we were given a new room. Loved the location, the grounds are beautiful, and had access directly to beach. We loved our vacation!!

Keep looking, don't stay at ME Cabo

Rude front desk staff, and down right scary. The bad Mexico experience you hope does not occur. They tried to get more money at check in saying our confirmation only said 2 not 3 people and they wanted $380/night more for my son to stay in the room. At first they said he had to buy another room then they said we could pay$280/night times 7 and he could stay in our room. They made our 1st night a terrible experience and we chose to leave the hotel that 1st night and lose about $450 in 1st night Rent plus hotel fees. they made it very clear we had to pay more or leave. Walked out and dragged our luggage down a block to Bahia hotel. The Bahia saved our vacation and the bonus was we saved over $700 staying At the Bahia. The Bahia staff are friendly and were extremely sympathetic to our situation.

    peace and quiet

Overall the experience was pretty good. The only drawback and a BIG drawback was the nightclub was VERY loud from Thursday night and Friday night until 4a.m. This was NOT explained when we checked in or booked. We wanted a nice quiet hotel and was really disappointed withe noise.

    Mixed bag

The hotel itself is beautiful. The rooms are clean, well appointed, and have great views. The hotel is very close to Cabo so we could actually walk to town for exploring and shopping. I was however quite disappointed in the service and food. Nikki Beach is a poolside restaurant with very over priced average quality food. Lunch of 2 panini's & 3 sliders with iced tea $85.00. The Passion restaurant/club only has slightly better prices but the service was awful. My wife had pancakes for breakfast one morning and they were served "cold". When she commmented on this the waiter simply shrugged. My son who was traveling with us for his 21st birthday had $200.00 "disappear" from his wallet. We reported it, security arrived promptly, and reviewed the room log only to tell us that only he and the maid had entered and "she has been with us a long time", end of story. The short story is the that property and scenery are georgous but the food and service for this class of hotel are lacking. Seems like a once great resort is in process of dying a slow miserable death.

Passion is in the hotel. It is one of the hot spots in Cabo. When you are a parent it helps to have a great place to go in the hotel. Also the hotel has a great energy. Even the pool during the day has great music and a great vibe
