Busy Cabo San Lucas hotel features daily activities and tropical flair
Perched on a hill with the Sea of Cortez to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west, Hotel Finisterra capitalizes upon its unique garden, ocean and marina views. The 283-room property affords a stunning feature: One building was built into a stone foundation that is surrounded by boulders. Elsewhere, the hotel buzzes with activity, whether guests are wading in the three free-form pools, taking Spanish or cooking classes or savoring local fare at Blue Marlin Restaurant.
Highlights
  • A 283-room hotel with garden, ocean or marina views
  • Original building surrounded by boulders
  • Three free-form pools and a swim-up bar
  • Daily activities like cooking lessons and volleyball
  • All-day restaurant
Rooms
Hotel Finisterra comprises two sections covering 283 rooms with garden, ocean or marina views. The original Finisterra building sits on a stone foundation surrounded by boulders, affording guests with unique vantage points and low-rise access. In these rooms, tropical flair reigns, from floral patterns to wood furniture. In the newer Palapa Beach Club towers, visitors soak up vistas of the ocean, while in the Il Porto building, patrons take in glimpses of the nearby marina. Standard amenities tend to basics like a fully stocked minibar, bathroom and two double or one king bed.
Dining
Hungry diners need not travel off-site for authentic Mexican dishes. At Blue Marlin Restaurant, Hotel Finisterra guests savor breakfast, lunch and dinner favorites. The eatery also serves poolside. For the multitasking traveler, there is a swim-up bar for cocktails during sunbathing.
Recreation

Three free-form pools -- including one that houses a separate area for children -- serve as centers for leisure at Hotel Finisterra. The hotel also hosts a diverse set of activities to entertain guests all day, including Spanish lessons, cooking classes and volleyball classes.

And for parents to enjoy: babysitting services upon request when the mood strikes to book a massage or relaxing sit in the sauna.

The walk to the hotel was a little long for older people. The pools were fastastic. The view of the ocean was great. The room service breakfast was great. A coffee shop that also served sandwiches and snacks would have been nice. The people were very friendly.

Great place to stay.

Very clean. Walking distance to downtown where all the hot spots, restaurants and shops are located. Friendly staff. Beautiful scenery. Happy Hour from 2-6 is a plus. Only complaint would be the mattress. it has hard. I did see them replacing some so maybe they will be softer? I will definitely go back.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

We rented a car for the week, it was well worth it. Shopping, nightlife, and restaurants are near by but you definitely need a car to see all Cabos San Lucas has to offer!!!!Plus,if you need to go to your hotel during the day you save yourself alot of walking!! The hotel is about a 10-20 minute walk to everything.

Beautiful Views

We have mixed feelings about the Hotel Finisterra... we stayed there for 8 nights along with 4 other couples. 4 of the nights we were in a timeshare the other 4 in a hotel room. They are in the process of renovation, so one side of the hotel has jackhammering all day... our friends were unfortunate enough to stay on that side of the hotel, and the staff was reluctant to accomodate them. Also, like any other timeshare facility they have a deal if you go listen to their sales pitch you get a $100 credit, however when you go to cash in on your credit they are very difficult and only at that time do they tell you that the $100 is only good at one restaurant in the hotel and nothing else... long story short, we only got to use $60 worth of the credit. However, this hotel has beautiful pools, incredible views, and the housekeeping staff does a wonderful job of keeping the place very clean. Overall we would recommend it, just be weary of the front desk staff.

The marina is right at the bottom of the hotel driveway... the best deals on local products in town.

Overall Review

The Hotel was very clean, staff was friendly. I would def stay here again. However, 1 staff member at the Concierge led us to believe we could choose any time to get picked up from the shuttle to the airport. This was not the case and we ended up losing our already paid for shuttle and had to pay again.

Beautiful, Peaceful & Relaxing....

Our family's stay at this hotel was unexpected and at the end of our vacation after other arrangements fell through. Regardless the experience was very peaceful and rewarding! Both my wife and daughter loved the room, view and most of all the three pools which are on the property with a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean. The room was booked two hours before we arrived at the hotel and the process couldnt have been smoother. During our arrival the hotel staff were exceptionally helpful. While we prefer to eat in town we did hear the hotels restuarant is very good although it can be pricey? We wouldnt know though cause we were busy exploring the city. Overall the hotel was great! No complaints. our basic room was very spacious, clean and from the fifth floor had an excellent view. Only complaint was that it did not have a kitchen/kitchenette then again we did book the most basic room at the last minute. We will definitely be back in the future...

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Dont be afraid to explore the city and the marina. Having been in Cabo several times, owning a time share and planning to retire here one of the things that stood out most to my wife and I was that Hotel FInistrerra is conveniently close to the marina and city yet built on the Pacific side of a hill and very secluded and quiet. Dont be afraid to patronize the great restuarants, bars, and vendors ride outside the hotel.

Spring Break Trip

Hotel is located close to town and Marina. Pool area was very nice, only middle pool was heated. George, the waiter by the pool was fantastic. Our room was near elevator, very noisy at night because of elevators, tile floors, and enclosed walkway echoed all of the noise. Upper floors are probably quieter because the hallway are open ot the outside. Hotel buildings are very attractive. Furniture is dated, but in good condition. Staff was very attentive. Rooms/ hotel was very clean. Hotel rooms are large rooms with sitting area. Other than the noise we enjoyed our stay very much and would return we would just ask for a third floor or above room. We had a nice view. Internet pretty much only works from the lobby. Beach is nice, but steep angle to water and non-swimmable. Had stayed at a neighboring hotel before and found this hotel more to our liking. You didn't have to fight for chairs by the pool any day we were there. Killer hill up to hotel. Hotel was very safe and secure. Restaurant row is only a few blocks away, ask the locals. Beds were very comfortable, pillows not so much.

If you avoid the marina and main road you can find great food deals. there are many great restaurants on or near Hildalgo St.. You can find breakfast for a few dollars and great pizza at Mama Mias. Maros is a great place, get the lobster and shrimp. Stay away from the New York Steak combo.
