location location location!!!!
as stated location for walk to the beach and it's usefull size is [...] why we like the older smaller properties on this strech, snorkling is great and Akumal is one bay north only area to see the turtles on your own.the pier was a nice touch and for the most part was empty so you could sit and have a cold one without the moscos or bugs killing you check the jellyfish light show at night.food was the same at the buffet all week it catered to the Italians and Spanish simple seafood dishes that got old, restaurant options were limited some closed and you had to book 10am-2pm.you could have a lobster dinner at the pier for 125.00 a couple.drinks were low grade and any premium brands cost extra we buy our own bottle and negra modelo beer.your in room bar was stocked daily 4 pops 2 waters,2 cans of reg modelo for two people any more at an extra charge, lock box was also extra but you better have one.firt day it was hot in the restaurant and our room could not cool off this changed next day.recomend a ocean front room and check the other side Veraclub the europeans use we found out 3 days later it was part of the property, small tips will go a long way here staff is overworked and have little time for service but try.sushi was our favorite.to wrap up if you like to be pampered DO NOT COME HERE if you work with it you may find it to your liking if you get a good deal!!!good luck.

For what we paid, we got a GREAT deal!
We had a great time. This place has everything you need to have a peaceful and fun vacation. The staff was very helpful all the time and even though the tips were included, we didn't have a problem giving a couple of extra dollars...the service was just great, always a smile on their faces. There's activities every night, plenty of food and drinks. If you are planning to go to Cancun often while you are there, this is not the place for you. It's about hour and a half from the resort. But if you are planning for a peaceful place, Stay here!. To go to Chichen Itza it takes about 3 hours to get there, but it's worth it.And 15 minutes to Playa del Carmen. You don't need to pay for private transportation. For $3 you can use public transportation...We felt save in and out of the resort! Before I booked this vacation a read some of the reviews. Someone said that there's not enough variety of food. Well I don't know what else this person was looking for....there's more than 4 restaurants plus a buffet. The only thing that needs improvement is the gym; old and not enough equipment. But other than that.....everything was great!. For the price that we paid, we think we got a GREAT deal.

A great relaxing getaway
This was a great way to unleash from busy work schedules and parenting. It was extremely relaxing and the staff was very helpful and fun. They had something going on through the days and evenings for everyone to enjoy. The food ranged in a variety so there was something for every taste bud. The rooms were simple, but we werent there to stay in our room so it didn't matter. There is truly something for everyone, next time we are bringing the kids, can't wait to get back again!

MORE FOR RELAXING THAN PARTYING.
NO IT'S NOT 5*. BUT IF YOU WANT TO STAY ON ON THE RIVEIERA MAYA AND AVOID THE WHOLE PARTY ATMOSPHERE OF CANCUN; IT'S A GREAT HOTEL FOR THE PRICE. THE ALL-INCLUSIVE BUFFET WAS SO GOOD THAT WE DIDN'T EAT AT ANY OF THE RESTAURANTS EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE INCLUDED. WHAT MAKES THIS HOTEL SO SPECIAL IS THE BEAUTIFUL WHITE SAND BEACH AND A FANTASTIC HEALTHY REEF OFFSHORE. IF YOU LIKE TO SNORKEL THERE IS NO NEED TO GO COZUMEL.

Has lots of room for improvement:(
I was skeptical to book this hotel based on the mixed reviews; overall it was an ok vacation experience considering the price I ended up paying. i got 6 nights including airfare for $515 which was a steal (used orbitz coupon code) I paid extra for oceanfront, upon arrival the first night they put us in a room that was HORRIBLE! It was not oceanfront, the AC was barely putting any cool air out, horrible sewage smell in the bathroom and no glass on window which was probably why it stayed so hot, and the water in the sink and bathroom was halfway working... it was literally above 90 degrees in our room. We immediately went to the front desk and they told us we would have to wait until the next day to change rooms. The next day they moved us to a much better room that had a GREAT view, working AC and water:) The drinks left alot to be desired; I think they used cheap rum, they had a swim up smoothie bar that had great drinks, however out of the entire trip there was only someone working there 1 day! Not sure how they are coming up with 8 bars/7 restaurants??? There was only a bar on the beach and one near 2 pools, and one on the roof (so that would be 4 bars total) There was the buffet where the food was the same every day, a snack bar, and 3 other restaurants in which one of them was not open any of the hours that they were supposed to be. The dinner reservations had to be made early in the day which made no sense because they were never full of people, but the concierge stated they were full??? The Asian restaurant was the only one that had edible food... the other two were AWFUL! I think it also depends on the day because we chose to eat at the Asian Restaurant a 2nd time because the food was OK the first time, however the 2nd trip I ordered the same exact meal and it was prepared differently and didn't taste the same. I don't want to sound completely negative because there were some nice things about the hotel. Most of the staff was friendly, the views were great, the water was very nice... about 60 foot in front of hotel there was actually a nice reef area that has lots of fish for the people that like to snorkle (I actually saw alot more than I had on an actual excursion that I had taken in Cozumel a couple years ago, so that in itself was very nice to be able to experience) Overall it wasn't as great as they make it sound, but as they say if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is. Considering the price I paid I am satisfied, but if I had paid the regular price which I checked prior to leaving which was double that I would have been extremely let down.

Use Olympus Tours for cheapest airport to hotel transportation (was $54 per person round trip where other places were $125 and up); also use them for booking excursions for best prices/service. If shopping in Playa Del Carmen walk to end of resort to catch the shuttle bus... cost $6 USD round trip compared to $30 for taxi.

Decent, but a little disappointing
We've been to 3 all inclusive resorts in Mexico. This one was the 2nd best. The beach was amazing, surrounded by a reef. But the "restaurant" selection was not good. You had to be up at the crack of dawn to get reservations for the "good" ones. I don't think it is possible to make weaker drinks. Every other bar or restuarant was closed down. The woman who worked the sushi bar was EXTREMELY rude. It was nearly impossible to get service in the buffet area, which is where you have to eat most of the time. When you want to go to town it is a half an hour drive. 1.5 hours to the airport. And DON"T take the taxi's to town. Just walk out to the highway and catch a bus. It is $3/person compared to a $30 taxi ride. The buses are clean, air conditioned, and safe. The drivers are very helpful.

Excellent value for the price
It's 2 resorts mixed together, one looks like 4 starts, the other as 3, but that's just for the rooms, so for the deal you get a clean but rustic room, but the installations where pretty good for us, modern, incredible beach, great food, buffet and restaurants, We did not expended much time in the room any way. Don't forget to tip, small tips, 2$, 3$, can do a lot. You can leave 50-70$ for 2 people for the entire trip, it's not bad.

First day was a bad day........
Trust me when i say this, before booking the trip i thought the reviews were to negative and thought to my self it cant be that bad. Guess what... it was! When we got out of the air port, they did not have our information for the shuttle that we pre- paid for through cheap tickets, (make sure you have a copy of your voucher)the drive was two hours, because you have to drop off other guests at other hotels, so you are pretty much splitting the ride. When we got to the hotel, there was no bell boy to help with the bags, the lobby had no A.C. when we got to the room, it was very large but not impressive. The hot water was not working, the phone was not working and we had two queen size beds instead of a king. We complained to the front desk, it took them 5 complains to get them to fix our problems. After 3 HOURS WE HAD RUNNING HOT WATER. The bathrooms had salt resedue all over the tile and sinks. We had a beach front view, which was fantastic but all the partying and music and beach chairs are right in front of you. If you perfer silence i would recomend the other side were the swim up pool is. Very nice area, very quite, newer rooms and cleaner. The hotel has amazing view of the ocean, its just seems that they are still remodeling all the time. The beach front rooms are older time shares, that the hotel just purchased and are adding to there resort. After a day my husband and I were determend not to allow this to spoil our trip, so we slipped into the Oasis mentality and you forget all about the bad stuff. Understaffed for the size of the resort. We loved [...] and [...], they were in charged of the activitys at the hotel, they speak very good english, every one else is very broken english. If they can improve, the hotel in the next 5 years, i might try it again, the down fall is that it is very far from the airport. But untill then, there are other beutiful hotels to visit in Cancun.

Our first trip to the Mayan Riviera
So, I am writing this review because I know I read lots of reviews and was kind of nervous before going on the trip. I will admit that when we first arrived we were a little disappointed in the room. The bathroom light wasn't working, the toilet was leaking water on the floor (there was a drain next to it though), the door had a huge almost inch gap around it, and the hotel fixtures and furniture were older. We used to live in North Africa so my perspective may be different than some. I did want the light fixed so that we could see in the bathroom, but the other issues were definitely tolerable. I called and told them about the issues in the room. I feel that the staff was all so friendly there, but the standard of service is just different, and the staff was doing the best they could with what they had to work with. The hotel doesn't seem to be in the greatest shape, but that is not their fault. Anyway, none of the room problems really mattered because they fixed the light and we were only in the room to sleep and shower. It is so close to the ruins and the nature around the hotel including the beaches was just fantastic. I was absolutely in love with the place for the outdoor part alone. I saw sting rays, families of coatmundi, giant crabs, little crabs, and peacocks. It was great. If you want to spend a lot of time in your room then maybe this wouldn't be such a great place, but I swear when you get to the beach and see the surrounding area, you are not going to want to be in your room anyway. For the price I feel that we got a great value. I had a wonderful time, I guess though I was not concerned about things that were little to me like the pay phone eating our money, the leaky toilet, bugs in the room(in tropical climates good luck trying to keep them out without your room smelling like a chemical factory), etc. I enjoyed the beach and the nature and practicing Spanish with the friendly staff and would go back in a heart beat. One final note, the AC was not super cold, but it was tolerable and I was able to sleep. I also think that is just a cultural difference about what is a necessary temperature and I am used to warm places without AC. If you like it cold though I could see where some people may complain.

Short walk from hotel
So, the best hint we were given was to get to Tulum to take the public transportation. It was fast comfortable and 20 pesos. You walk down the hotel driveway to the main road and stand in the direction you want to go. Then a van flashes its lights and you flag it down and tell him where you want to go. Using this it only cost us a grand total of 16 dollars to go to Tulum. Take your swimsuit to Tulum because there is access to the beach and it really helps to cool down so you can tour longer.
