souless corporate rip off joint - don't go
if you like to have to pay for everything right rhoguh to a pillow and wifi then the Hilton is best for you. On top of that normla things are a rip off. Water 4euros, OJ 6 euros, a sandwich 17euros. I don't mind paying big money and do so frequently, but the prices are only that high as Hilton know the customer is expensing it rather than their being high cos it's something special. This hotel is for business people who don't care about their company's money. Plus there were loads of screaming kids and not enough sun beds.

The Place to Stay in Malta
I could write many words to describe our experience and the service we got. All of them would come short. If you are planning in enjoying a relaxing and pleasant holiday in Malta, this is definitely the place to stay. Plenty of pools, restaurants, amenities and most of all a super friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are very nice. 5 star experience.

Excellent hotel in a good position
Excellent hotel. Staff on reception were very welcoming, and despite arriving over 2 hours earlier than room ready checkin, our room was available. Breakfast is perfect and a huge choice, including sparkling wine, English style bacon and sausage. Egg station does omelettes, fried eggs and poached eggs. We were in a deluxe plus room on the 6th floor. Very comfortable, excellent air con and spacious with a super king size bed. It was comfortable but only 2 small pillows each weren't enough - we had to ask for more. One tip - don't have a pool view room if you go to bed before midnight. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights there are weddings, functions and parties directly under the pool view rooms. The band is VERY loud even with the patio door shut and the TV on. Talking about the TV, there's a good enough choice of English programmes and there was also a DVD player. We sunbathed each day around the pool furthest from the hotel - the Merkanti Beach Club. It was right on the sea edge so caught the breeze which was very much needed as the temperatures were between 34C and 37C each day. It didn't fill up until after 11am which is great considering we were there in mid July. You could always get sunbeds. A major downside to the hotel is the price of drinks and wifi. A bottle of water at the pool is €4.10 and alcohol prices throughout the hotel are eye popping. We like Hilton hotels but do find it annoying that they charge exhorbitant prices for wifi. We didn't bother as some people told us that the signal is very hit and miss and one man did request a refund. The majority of the local cafes, bars and restaurants have free wifi so we always used that (the Crows Nest pub is very fast and the booze is cheap!). St Julians is a nice place with plenty of restaurants. The ones at the marina and harbour are a little more expensive but both are lovely places to eat. Our favourite restaurant was Sardinella - excellent food, cheap prices and 25% discount if you go in before 7.30pm. All in all an excellent holiday in a top class hotel.

Sightseeing tip:
In Hotel
Get the open top Malta Sightseeing bus which stops outside the hotel in the morning. €15 means you can hop on and hop off all day. We got off at Valletta, walked about for a bit and then picked the bus up again at the harbour. We got off again at the Craft Village and a town called Mosta, then continued the north route around the island. You're give earphones so you can listen to commentary on where you are. A nice day out catching a lovely breeze on the top of the bus!

A wonderful holiday
This is a splendid hotel, I strongly recommend. My wife and I had a great holiday. The room was amazing, with a view out over the swinmming pools and beyond to the Med. Staff were very friendly and service excellent. Breakfast lavish. Plenty of room by the pools despite the hotel being full. Only minor criticisms would be that - and this is through no fault of the hotel - there is a towel arms race, meaning to secure your ideal lounger spot you have to mark your territory with towels in the morning. This used to be regarded as a largely German trait, it seems to have gone global. Pity, but after some internal debate, I decided I had to follow suit. Drinks prices are pretty punchy, but then it's a Hilton in an idyllic setting, if you want cheaper food and drink there are plenty of very nice bars and restaurants nearby. We will return as soon as finances and our growing family allow.

Awesome
Our trip to Malta was way to brief and our stay at the hotel was a delight. Our room was spacious and the view was marvelous. Thw hotel is beautifully appointed and the staff friendly and accomodating. The location was good and within walking distance of shopping and restaurants. All in all a "wow" experience for us...we'll definitely plan a return visit!

Dining tip:
Not Applicable
Some restaurants don't open until 7pm so booking a table before 8pm can be quiet. The Maltese seem to eat out later with people still arriving to eat at 9 and 10pm.
