Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur

This is a dingy tourist hotel masquerading as something it is not. Check in staff were rude and abrupt. Free wifi was extremely slow. Room was ageing and only superficially cleaned. Shower was temperamental - at one point requiring holding the button out to ensure water flowed through shower nozzle rather than bath tap. Housekeeping failed to replace empty toilet rolls, leading to necessity of calling them. Bed mattress incredibly thin and bed surrounded by faux mosquito net... which looked tacky and cheap rather than elegant. Breakfast was crowded and food poor (to the point skipped free breakfast and went outside on second and third morning). Restaurant staff unhelpful - not possible to get a cafe latte to take back to the room because they did not have any takeaway cups. So went out for coffee (across the street in Citibank building lobby). Checkout staff refused to cancel pre-authorisation on credit card. On the plus side - a good Filipino band playing covers behind the bar each night (except Mondays) and the pool area was relaxing.

I took the Aeroline bus from Singapore and this hotel is the departure stop so I stayed at the Corus. This hotel seems to have a lot of nice business & conference rooms, but the actual hotel rooms are sad. The paint was chipped, the grout in the bathroom was missing, towels that they provided I give to the Humane Society, noisy, hard bed, hand prints on the wall that should have been cleaned - those rooms maybe deserve a 2.5* rating. Everyone at the desk are very nice, but the folks at the tourist desk could not answer simple questions (like how do I find the Hop On/Hop Off bus. Great that it is a block away from the Petronas Towers complex & right next to the rapid transit line.
