Good location, clean and basic

I've stayed here in previous years. The rooms are basic, but functional. I love the location, near LRT and great local food (nasi kandar, various Indian), but some might dislike the fact that access to the entrance is through narrow passages between the tourist-market stalls, and there are stairs to mount before entering. Also, note the following: if you are on the north side, you will be woken early by the muezzin's call to prayer from the next-door Masjid (mosque) India: a disturbance, perhaps, or else part of the location's cultural experience, take your pick. Also, and in contrast to rooms exposed to outside sound, many of the rooms are in the building's central part, and have no windows but are a bit quieter. Staff were reasonably helpful, breakfast was much improved from previous years' visits. The wireless Internet in the room went out for a few days after a big rainstorm, though the lobby's hotspot remained accessible. This is a decent, basic hotel, worth it if you get one of the lower room rates.

A Christmas vacation

Good location. It was 1 minute walk to the metro station and right next to the markets which was great for some extra exploring outside of the central city. The door man and the breakfast crew were lovely! We had couple of issues with things in the room but the maintenance man fixed them immediately. Minus some thin walls, and our unlucky moment of having a noisy family down the hall, it was a good hotel with a good breakfast spread. No internet in the room.

Poor customer service and defective facilities

The location was good for me as tourist, however, many items in the room were falling apart. When I unaggresively unpluged my computer charger from the wall, the entire socket cover; it was not screwed into the wall correctly. The shower head on the hand shower popped off suddenly during use because the glue holding it in place gave out. The staff took days to come and clean the room. When they came, they got the drain plug in tne sink stuck, and we had to pry it out to drain tne dirty water. Carpet was old and dammaged. Bed sheets and matresses were stained. The food was good.

worst experience ever

The maid didn't even come once to clean our room. I had to call for toilet paper because they just left us one roll. The rooms are so small that me and my wife could hardly move in there. The neighborhood is dirty and full of drug addicts. Taxis won't even go there. Poeple stay away from that trap. I am not sure where the 3 starts came from

Fantastic personal service

Fantastic the staff couldn't have done more to make my stay do enjoyable. And to cap it off I left my credit card behind and a member of staff chased my taxi for 30 minutes to return it to me. What more can I say!

No need for an alarm clock!

We stayed at the Citin for four nights in February. We choose the Citin as it represented good value for money and a central location to explore KL. The hotel is easily located to Masjid Jamek station, and can be reached in under 5 minutes. The entrance was a little difficult to find and involves navigating your way through a busy marketplace which lines its doorstep. Actually to get to the front entrance you have to walk through someone's stall. Our room was large and clean, we stayed on the 2nd floor which overlooked the market. This in itself provided no problems and there was very little noise that could be heard. At night, the market was closed. However, come 6am in the morning we were woken by the sound of the call of prayer from the local mosque. Although we were expecting this, we weren't prepared for how long it would last (30 mins) and how loud it would be. Obviously this is nobody's fault and can't really be helped, but staying in one of the higher rooms at the back end of the hotel may dampen the sound. After the first night however I actually enjoyed hearing it and found that it added to the experience of our stay in KL. The corridors could also become very noisy at times, with all sorts of voices and footsteps being heard as if they were in the room with us. The staff at the hotel weren't particularly helpful, seemed to have little knowledge of the area and weren't all that bothered in customer service. There is a travel tour booth in the reception of the hotel, we took a tour with them but later found the price to be vastly more than what others were offering, best avoided. What we did like is that there was always one or two security guards on the door greeted us every time we returned. Finally, the hotel is great for exploring Chinatown and Little India both can we reached on foot within ten minutes and is a good choice on a budget.

Just what we needed for the right price!

When you travel to a city like KL, you don't go there to sit in your hotel, all day, you go to see the city, experience, the people, culture, food, shopping, etc. At the end of the day you want a safe place to rest, clean up, cool off, check email/facebook, unwind, sleep and even repack for further adventures. The Citin Hotel Masjid Jamek was perfect for that. Even if one of us were to have ended up not feeling well and having to stay at the hotel for a better part of the day, thought this was not our experience, it would have been fine. The staff were kind and helpful as well. Our room was missing towels and they rectified the situation in a relatively timely manner. The breakfast buffet in the morning was simple, suited for more of a Malaysian preference, rice, noodles, and so on but also offered cereal, toast, juice & coffee & tea. I saw a few bugs, mosquitoes, and a small roach or ant near the food, but I figured that it was impossible to avoid all of that. The location of the hotel was pretty convenient to many sites we wanted to see, since it is located in a market area, it is somewhat challenging to enter the hotel or see the main entrance easily, fortunately there is relatively good signage so we found out where to go relatively quickly. This is a great budget hotel option, I'd stay here again.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

One will walk quite a bit to see things and experience the city and for shopping, make use of the LRT system, get a touch & go pass, it will help your feet and you get A/C on the train which is helpful and a bit refreshing.
