Fogo Samba
The sounds of Brazilian Samba liven up the warm, comfortable atmosphere at Fogo Samba. The churrascaria's (Brazilian barbecue steakhouse) specialty is its grilled meats: 15 different cuts of chicken, lamb, beef and pork are roasted in an open grill, and served to guests upon request. A red and green chip lets cortadores (meat carvers) know when you want more, or when you've had enough. Fogo Samba even caters to the tastes and needs of vegetarians with an extensive salad bar. Enjoy a completely different atmosphere at the Samba Bar, where you can enjoy a few drinks with your friends.

Work in progress

The Venetian likely believes its current rate is a bargain, but then the hotel is a work in progress. More to the point the Venetian like its counterpart in Las Vegas and other megha casino hotels is a shopping mall disguised as a shopping mall and gambling venue. The requisites of 5 star standards in terms of room size and general comfort are present. BUT. A guest is thrown in with hundreds if not thousands of tourists who weave through the hotel, often in groups. The restaurants in the hotel are the only convenient option. Busses are available to other hotels but there is no street life in the new section of time that is becoming the Macau Strip (here it is the Cotai Strip) a la Las Vegas. The hotel restaurants vary widely in competence. The dim sum restaurant is poor and a cold uninviting venue. The Chinese restaurant by contrast is excellent, though the Venetian's concept of "low-priced" is laughable. The casinos logically cater to Chinese games and are overwhelmingly populated by Chinese gamblers. All of the hotel casinos are "gated" communities within the hotels with guards to check IDs of younger patrons. Busses abound in Macau because the Cotai Strip is 20 minutes outside of Macau and busses are needed for travel between hotels that appear close but are a healthy walk away. The area is a vast construction zone. I counted 45 construction cranes in our section of the Cotai Strip. The fabled Venetian fountains have not yet appeared, but the lake is there and awaits.

good room size

Good location, dont know why they brought us to a vip room for special check in when we just line up as others.Cheap,as package indicate 2 boxes of almond cookie, only give one saying only one per room.No comparison to Wynn, towels not off white.Breakfast buffet ok not good quality. Good shopping inside hotel, best congee place outside casino, not cheap.Warning: we were turn down by 2 taxis at hotel wanted to go to specific restaurant because they only take you to tourist area so they can get customers for return!! We studied hard from food critic Michellen guide just to eat in Macau, all said they dont know, , but how big is Macau? we only had 2 nights and wanted to try out the best, should have complained to Hotel but I wonder if they care! For we didnt have hot water for 2 days, only luke warm and slow for a 5 star hotel, and they just said o no! Started with VIP like checkin but after that holding back one small cheap cookie was unreal.Dated and not as clean for their name!

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Best deal Aurora Italian Rest. at Altira Hotel, $228 for 4 course dinner-like manuel for lunch, variety of gourmet bread was exceptional.Manager offered extra bucket of bread to our liking and orange liquor on top of our chocolate cake, best service and food!!! Dinner at The Eight, fusion high end Chinese food at Libosa down town, amazing decor and entrance and top cheif, price lower than HK but not cheap.Next day lunch at Macau Military Club next to New Libosa for famous BBQ pig with crispy skin and clams and baked duck with rice, busy time need membership, try reserve earlier, small place but real Portugeese food. Only $35 to $65HK taxi to each places.

Showing Age but Good Casino Vibe

The hotel is showing a bit of wear--black mold in the shower and scuffed walls, but we enjoyed our stay nonetheless. The bed was very comfortable and the staff was impressively professional and courteous. We visited a number of other casinos during our evening and can testify that the vibe at the Venetian was far better than those at the Wynn, Lisboa, and Sands. The Venetian was pleasantly crowded with merry gamblers enjoying themselves. The other places were sleepy and boring in comparison. It is an exact replica of the Venetian in Vegas, which is funny and freaky. Go to Fernandos for lunch on Saturday. Get there at noon and you'll be seated quickly and enjoy delicious, fresh food. I wouldn't bother at any other time as you'll stand in a long, hot line however.

Please sort out your lack of signs

Lovely room in a huge, extremely busy hotel - but please sort out the lack of effective signs to key locations especially reception from arrival at the west lobby entrance. Also the check in, for a 5 star hotel, was appalling - taking for too long. Staff we're having to provide water to people in the queue - not what I expect in a 5 star hotel costing a lot of money.

Great hotel with a lot of tourists

Great hotel, they recreate the Grand Canal inside the hotel and a lot of brand name shops (just like a shopping mall). However, go there in the winter to avoid majority of the escorted tourist groups. I had to wait for an hour to check in just because the numerous escorted tourist groups arriving at the same time. People are everywhere and if you want a quiet and restful trip, don't go in Spring thru Fall.

Great place to spend a weekend retreat

My room is very spacious with a king size bed. I Wish there option for 2 separate beds as I like to sleep separately. Very clean and well appointed. A little expensive for my taste but I do recommend this hotel for couples to spend the weekend here.
