Hotel Royal Macau

I stayed in this hotel from the 28th to 30th of May 2012 & I must say I prefer this hotel to the Venetian. Particularly because it is conveniently situated in the heart of Macau where you get to see how the locals live & because the hotel does not have a casino, I don't have strangers waltzing in & out the hotel at odd hours. The service was impeccable as were the amenities. Especially the indoor pool and gym. What I also liked was that a smoking room was provided to me, which a lot of hotels lack. If you are looking for a comfortable hotel stay without the hefty price tag. I highly recommend this hotel.

Highly recommended

Finally, really good hotel in Macau. We booked premier room, and it was indeed amazing. Better than any other similarly priced hotel we tried in Macau. Included breakfast was also great. The only drawback was slow wifi. Very slow and unstable. (So although I would highly recommend staying here on vacation, it won't work for business travelers.)

Convenient for business

I had work in Zhuhai and came south of the border to renew my stay duration in China. I booked this hotel because there was a 30% off list price deal when I needed to come. Royal Hotel Macau is close to many bus stops and is located within a 30 minute walk to the port of entry to China. I got placed in a room on the 9th floor which was nice and modern with a lot of smoked glass surfaces that were very clean. The internet jack in the wall did not work, however, and spent about an hour speaking in Mandarin and English trying to get someone to fix it--no, the wire is plugged in, no, i'm not trying to log into the wireless that my room does not have--and eventually got to switch rooms to one on the 12th floor. PS- The support in Mandarin is much better than the support in English. The 12th floor rooms were very well furnished as well, but the furnishings seem older--marble countertops, dinged wooden furniture, and the housekeeping on this floor seemed to have neglected a lot of mineral deposits from water on the TV console counter, the wooden desk, and the bathroom countertop. The amenities did have a shaving razor (which my previous room did not have for some reason) and more towels though. Despite the issues with the wall jack, the service was great, the staff is incredibly friendly and the hotel is very well kept. Will definitely come here again in the future and try to see how the spa/gym and gaming club are.

Better Choices Out There

3 star room with 4 star service. Location isn't too bad if you don't mind walking a while to some of the historical attractions. Do yourself a favor and spend a few more dollars to stay at a better, bigger, and newer hotel casino on one of the main strips.

Holiday getaway and Relax

Reception and hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Giving us advice in getting around Macau. Rooms were clean. On the day we checked in, there were some group tours, causing the atmosphere very rowdy. Not much information provided at the lobby on their restaurant or cafe, hence have to take meals at nearby places which required to walk down the slopes. Problem in getting taxis unless they were alighting hotel's guests. Shuttle bus was punctual but certain designated places were cancelled due to the F1 races just completed and yet to dismantle all the railings. A commendable hotel and have a comfortable stay.

Good place but a bit too expensive

The hotel is located in a walking distance from the old town, fortress and Hotel Lisboa. Very convenient for sightseeing and gambling. The room is very clean and comfortable. But I paid over $200 for one night. Though all the hotels in Macau seem very expensive, I didn't feel it deserves $200. And it was a pity that Wifi was available only at the lobby, not in the room.
