Traveling with a Toddler

Since we were traveling with a 2-year old, cleanliness and comfort were definitely a requirement for us, so we were happy to find our room in great condition. The other outstanding feature of this hotel is its location. It's very good value for money, being so close to the places we were going to take our toddler to. We only had a total of 2 issues with Hotel Sintra: the lifts take forever, and there is no ramp going in/out of the hotel so we had to carry the stroller down/up the front steps. Staff were friendly enough for a 3-star hotel.

Excellent Location at Steep Discount

The hotel facade is very unassuming, but the rooms are very well appointed and spacious. Internet is very fast. The location is one block from the Grand Lisboa, and two blocks from the Wynn or Senado Square. Directly in front of the hotel is the bus stop for shuttles to the Coati Strip (City of Dreams, Venetian, Sands, Hard Rock). Can't beat the location (middle of downtown) and the price. Staff were very courteous. Shuttle service is free to and from the ferry terminal.

Not bad at all

The best thing of this hotel is its location in downtown Macau. You are in the walking distance in everything you can imagine. You can take bus to many attractions easily.

Bed is lijke Golden Dragon -- Too Hard

One of Stanley Ho's early efforts at a non-casino hotel.Once was quite chic, and the lobby staff still thinks it is. Besides the most uncomfortable beds, the area around it is now so busy, it is most unpleasant. Hotel is also now a haven for families with kids. Food is ok but pricy. Big problem is that the location does not afford access to taxis and everyone needs to wait. No decent food in walking distance.

Location Location Location

Central location remains Hotel Sintra's true strength, belying its older and simpler nature. While everything is very close in general, this hotel provides everything within truly short walking distance (i.e. Senado Square, Ruins of St. Paul, Grand Lisboa Hotel are within a 5 minute walk). Also, all the major shuttles from the other mega casinos stop here if you want to visit Venetian, Hard Rock, City of Dreams). Cab rides or buses to A-Ma Temple or Fisherman's Wharf are close in proximity, but can take longer due to traffic. 7-Eleven is around the corner for sundries and restaurants are fewer but available at all hours. My reason for not returning to Sintra truly are of my own wants. Being more of a night owl, I'd prefer a few more things to do at the drop of a hat. While I appreciate that there is no craziness as this is a bare-bones hotel, the fact is the rooms feel and are dated, they are rather small compared to U.S. or major chain standards, and there are no views to be found, unless you want to see the building across the way or rooms around the corner. Most every night, I spent my time at the Grand Lisboa or Lisboa Hotels which had more restaurants/cafes, actual stores inside, and other facilities. If you want to be in centro Macau, do the Wynn or Sands if you want to spend a few dollars and live the high life. If you are on more of a budget, Sintra's sister properties of the Lisboa / Grand Lisboa are better options. Ultimately, I'd probably stay at the Crown or Hard Rock so I'd have spas, shows, and all the newest things available at my finger tips. I had no idea that the free shuttles from the Macau ferry pier were only a ten minute drive to the Taipa mega-casinos.

In the Senado Square area, walk further up towards St. Paul's Ruins for cheaper souveneirs and food products. In the Taipa area hotels, make sure to bring your passport to sign up for a gamblers card, everything is discounted and more readily available. I felt like a leper as I couldn't seem to get any help or info once they found that I wasn't staying in the properties in the area. Skip the buffet in the Hard Rock, instead just hand-pick what you want at the food stands right outside. You'll pay 1/2 the price and get exactly what you want.

Excellent service & excellent location!

We stayed here for 4nights during the Macau Grand Prix and it was the perfect choice. The location is a short-short walk to the Lisboa Stand but also a short walk to the Segando (sp?) Square and other Macau scenic attractions. When we arrived, our room was not ready because an Indian tour group was late checking out. We were asked to wait for a couple hours so we left our luggage (very safe) and walked around to get familiar with the area and have a bite to eat. When we returned, our room was still not cleaned so the staff put us in the Executive Floor, gave us a tip for the best place & rates on exchanging money, and gave us a free mini-bar! Considering that we arrived before the check-in time (although we did ask for early check-in), the hotel did more than they were required to do. The room was absolutely perfect, and actually passed the two things I am very particular about - a lot of hot water and a lot of water pressure in the shower! The bed was extremely comfortable, the pillows were not lumpy, the curtains/shades were heavy enough to block out the lights from the casinos next door, and the staff were always friendly in our comings-and-goings. Long-story-short, the hotel was absolutely terrific and a perfect value for the money! We will be staying there again next year for the Macau GP, without a doubt.

A terrific location to stay at near the Lisboa Stand for the Macau GP. We will definitely repeat our stay at this hotel for the Grand Prix again as it is such a short walk and the convenience is priceless!

The unbeatable location for the price

Our goal was to do sight seeing in Macau. the hotel is centrally located that we could walk to the Sinaldo Square and to several large Casinos. The free shuttles to various hotels and casinos are very convenient and frequent.

Hotel Sintra Review

The hotel staff couldn't find our reservation for 45 minutes. Once found, they offered us an upgrade to a single King Size accommodation, which was our original reservation; we declined the upgrade, but insisted on the original accommodation. Nevertheless, the staff was very courteous. As always, if you don't speak the language, services are limited. Luckily, we do. Lastly, cigarette smoking is a problem generally in Asia.

Very Good Central Option

The hotel is in a convenient location in Central Macau Peninsula. It's a five-minute free shuttle bus ride to/from the seaport and only a five-minute walk to both the Historic Centre and the major casinos (such as the Grand Lisboa, Wynn and MGM Grand). The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room itself was clean and quiet. The atmosphere inside the room seemed a bit dated due to the old-fashioned furniture, but this actually added some charm to the room.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

The hotel offers a free shuttle to/from the seaport, but the shuttle may run less often than some of the other larger hotel shuttles. If you can't find the Sintra Hotel shuttle bus, you can just ride the Grand Lisboa shuttle bus and walk the remaining distance (less than 300m), provided that you don't have too much luggage. (Ask for help at the seaport's tourist information desk if necessary.)
