A beautiful hotel in a great location

Located just below Guia Park, yet within walking distance of the casinos, Senado Square and the old town morning market. The Royal has a professional staff and is clean to a fault. It boasts a very nice indoor pool. My sweetheart and I will definitely stay here again.

Comfortable room, location not so convenient. Check in staff offhand but concierge services great. Never managed to get a clear answer about breakfast - where/when/how much; let alone what type of food available.

Recommended to any tourist

Enjoyed my stay with my family. It is in the 'old town' of Macau. Get opportunity to know the real Macau apart from casinos. The hotel faces a park where you can sit & relax. Plenty authentic Chinese restaurants within walking distance. The only setback is it is half way up a hill.

Macau itself is very small. We found it easier to walk around sightseeing rather than go by taxi. Of course you need to use your computer to help you.

Hotel for the convenience

The hotel is located at the heart of Macau which allows you to travel anywhere by bus, taxi or even on foot at your convenience. Few mins walk to the Macau center. This hotel offers free shuttle schedule service to the ferry pier or to the other casino. Fantastic for me to take a short break holidays at a small place.

Excellent deal overall

This hotel was perfect for my stay, which was not vacation/gambling. The hotel's conveniently located near most of the places I needed to get to, and none of them were casinos (though the hotel has its own casino). If you're a tourist mostly interested in the history of Macau, then this hotel's location is ideal, i.e., within walking distance of the beautiful historic sites. Overall, service at the hotel was consistent, though housekeeping staff can be a bit scatterbrained. Also, the hotel offers several shuttle services, but none to the Macau-Zhuhai border gate.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Excellent sushi takeout place kitty corner from the hotel. Also, just beyond the little park in front of the hotel (and one street over), there are several good places such as a cute little coffee shop (western, not Hong Kong style), two vegetarian restaurants, quite a few Thai restaurants, and a popular seafood restaurant.

Lousy

I felt compelled to write this review from the hotel Lobby now after waiting over half and hour for the hotel to get me a taxi to get to the airport. The location is a tiny street where no taxis seem to pass by, there is no taxi queue, and their bus to the airport leaves every two hours compared to every 15 minutes for the other comparable hotels (e.g. Sheraton) where by the way you will have the convenience of an actual taxi queue as well. Even to arrive to the hotel had to wait a very long time for their small old dingy shuttle bus to arrive to the ferry terminal while the other hotels had large beautiful busses coming and going. I've found it worth every penny to pay a little more for a lot more. Another problem was that the internet in the room was as slow as can be. I didn't find too much that was "5-star" about the hotel. Last time in Macau I stayed at the Sheraton and had an excellent experience. For a comparable price it was an infinitely better time.
