Won't be back again

Stayed here over 2 separate bookings, room not cleaned to standard(toothpick left on floor from previous guest, opened water bottle from previous guest left for me as "complimentary"). Housekeepers loud in the corridor and stormed into my room despite "Do Not Disturb" sign. Bed begs on my body discovered after checking out. Won't be back that's for sure.

Won't be back for many reasons

Housekeeper very rudely stormed into the room without knocking when "Do Not Disturb" sign was on my door and I yelled out "DO NOT ENTER" in Chinese because I was naked out of the shower, and she didn't even apologize. Housekeepers were also very loud chatting to each other in corridor in the morning, oblivious to guests still sleeping. Front desk called to say I had to check out when I had already paid for the next night, and didn't apologize when learning that they made a mistake. Room had a bottle of complimentary water that had been opened and drank out of by previous guest. Floor had a used toothpick on it. Bathroom didn't smell clean, and carpet was stained. I don't have high standards but this wasn't good. Worst of all, after checking out from staying there for a week, I then discovered 3 bites from BED BUGS. Definitely won't be back again. The stay got worse and worse.

Decent location, great hotel.

An easy cab ride to any part of town. The hotel runs shuttles if a cab cannot be found, along with free rides to the ferry terminal each hour. Great staff, very clean, overall a great value.

Amazing Macau

Hotel Guia was not as impressive as the other hotels in Macau, not by a long shot, it did not have a casino on the proptery and was right next to a beautiful historical site with a great place for a jog, for both tourists and locals. But for a place to stay away from the crowds and still close to the downtown shopping areas, this was an ideal location, bring your walking/running shoes as it is on a hill and perched on the incline. Both the Downtown and Red Market shopping areas are within 10 minutes walking distance. Macau is small and about the only economical activity there is taking a cab, so I used it often. And from the hotel, ask the front desk to call one for you where they can write the name of your destination, English is not spoken widely, and forget about trying to use the Portugese or English names, there is no extra charge either from the hotel or from the taxi for this service, all cab rides are metered and receipts are readily available. The best thing about this hotel is free wireless internet service, no log on or passwords necessary. All in all, Macau was a great experience in large part because of Hotel Guia. I would definitely stay there again and recommend to anyone.

Time-saving tip: Not Applicable

The currency used in Macau is the Pataca, it is often interchangeable with the Hong Kong Dollar. The casino slots will only accept the HK Dollar though. Expect to pay an extra fee for the use of credit cards.

Rest beneath the protection of a fortres

I was in Macau for a combination of business and pleasure. I was born and raised in Macau. Guia was the symbol of Macau, and the fortress on top of the hill was fortified. I was excited to be so close to this historic site. Hotel room where I stayed was cleaned and well furnished. The rate I got was half of what the hotel would charge. It is close to the Central Library, and the old town. One can even walk to the hydrofoil pier (right turn from downhill) in 10 minutes.Guia is a hot spot for excercise for the local.
