We reserved and spent 3 nights at this property. The 1st night was in a room that resembled a Holiday Inn circa 1982. It had not been updated. The ground-floor room faced a noisy street. The TV was an old 13-inch model that produced nothing but snow on the screen. We had to share the bathroom with insects. Some of the lights didn't work. The beds were terrible. Staff refused our initial request for a different room. The next night a sympathetic desk clerk moved us to a different room, although it was a very tiny space with 2 separate twins rather than a double bed. At least it was cleaner and quieter with a functioning TV. By the way, the hotel no longer has a gym despite advertising one. All in all, we were very disappointed with this hotel. We have no idea why [...] rates it 4 stars.

upgraded room was excellent
Our initial room was very small. When we inquired about an upgrade, for a small additional fee we shifted to a huge and comfortable suite. The hotel is on the quiet side of the old city. Staff were always courteous and most spoke English adequately.

Hotel breakfasts (included in room price) were superb. They included selections of pickled herring and mushrooms, salted salmon, many breads and pastries, and hot eggs, blintzes, and other items.
