Deceptive location on map .. hotel is ACROSS THE RIVER

The Google map locator shows the location of this hotel in downtown Luang Prabang. It is incorrect, and I suspect deliberately so. The hotel is located across the Mekong River. You must take a tuk tuk west, perhaps a mile away from the center of town to a point along the south Bank of the Mekong. You then must descend a set of steep stairs to the bank and board a boat to cross the river. Then you must ascend another set of steep steps to the hotel. AVOID!

Very bad location poor room. Not comfortable

The hotel is located in an isolated area without reasonble transportation. You need for hotel chatell and a bout plus going down and up many many stairs. Not practical at all. The room is very poor. The promiced t.v. Is a computer screen. We left after one day.

Better than average with highs and lows

Emotional rollercoaster. On arrival at dock my heart sank. Scary, poorly maintained. Once across the river at the resort, felt better about it with excellent view and location for relaxtion. Rooms not well kept, amenities minimal so bring your own. For the price it was OK but realize that its only where you want to sleep but otherwise you want to spend time in the town.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Joma, great for pastries or lunch. Clean, tasty, and can drink everything as I saw the bottled water being used.

Lovely resort on other side of Mekong

For those looking for a quiet place to sit and ponder the mighty Mekong flowing enlessly by, this resort is perfect. For those who want to make the most of the town of Luang Prebang, the inconvenience of the location may be a hassle, particularly if you have limited time. My main gripe is that it would have been nice to have been warned that this hotel is on the other side of the Mekong. This is NOT an insignificant detail. The Mekong is big, really big. It's not just a matter of finding the nearest bridge - there isn't one. You need to use the boat AND bus shuttle services that the hotel offers for free. Note: the location on the website map is the point where you meet the boat on the Luang Prebang side of the river. To be fair, this is place you will need to tell a taxi driver to go, although they seem to know this already. It was low season when we were there, and really, really quiet, the hotel were kind enough to emphasise that we didn't have to worry about the set boat and bus schedule - they would go when we wanted them to. At peak season, you won't necessarily get this privilege. And this still requires planning your day, and not everyone wants to do that. What's more, there were some problems getting the bus from the town back to the hotel. It simply wasn't there one scheduled time, and we had to pay (too much) for a tuk tuk instead. Having said all this, the resort is lovely. We were in a great individual hut, which was spotless, and the service was invariably excellent. We ate at the hotel every day (partly because of the hassle of going into town and back), and the restaurant was also great. The TV reception was poor - apparently a problem they are resolving with their system. But this is hardly the sort of place where you will want to watch lots of TV.

Dining tip: In Hotel

The hotel restaurant has an interesting and wide range of local Luang Prebang dishes. The two I tried tasted very good.
