Nicest hotel I have ever stayed in

Wow. Just wow. The Westin Tokyo is hands down the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in. It's right by a train station, so affordable access to Tokyo is very easy. The route to the station is lined with some really nice shops, including an absolutely AMAZING bakery. There are many restaurants in the hotel, but we didn't try them because they are very expensive. The staff were incredibly nice, and the room was immaculately clean. The king-sized bed was definitely worth it.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

If you're taking the train to the hotel, ignore google maps suggestions. Go to Ebisu station, and walk to the hotel from there. Ebisu has a bunch of moving sidewalks inside that will take you about half way to the hotel, and once those take you to an exit, there will be an escalator going down to the right of the door. Take the escalator and follow the path through the shopping mall. You'll pass a big open space to your left, and a royally branded burger chain and a bakery. keep going and there will be a sign pointing you to the Westin Tokyo. There should be signs pointing to "Yebisu Garden Place" all over, and those will point you in the right direction. Once there, you'll need to take the escalator or elevators up one floor to ground level to check in. If you seem lost, the staff are super friendly and will guide you directly to where you need to go.

great for business travel

This is my 2 business visit to Westin Tokyo. I will definitely stay here again! The staff is completely welcoming and it makes you feel at home when people actually recognize you! My one complaint is that there is an exorbitant charge for internet. There isn't ONE hotel that I stay in...NYC, Paris and Milan that doesn't provide free internet. I feel because this is primarily a hotel for business traveler and large corporations, putting internet charges on a bill for these guys means nothing. For the small business traveler it adds up. The restaurant prices are very high as well. There seem to be complimentary breakfast or meal tickets for some but no one will clearly explain who gets what. There is a hierarchy here for benefits that remains a mystery unless you are in tune with what to ask for. This might be a Starwood thing but a clear explanation of benefits would be nice. The smaller hotels provide a small breakfast which is a nice perk. For the frequent traveler...something small would be nice. There is a bit of inflexibility on issue that other hotels overlook but the Japanese are very precise and the rules are the rules! One must respect the tradition. I hope this provides some useful information and will actually get put to good use. Thanking for offering the discount. How do I use it in the future? julien heart

The overall experience to stay

The overall experience to stay in Westin Tokyo is really good. Their facilities and service is excellent , esp we were traveling with our 11 months old baby. Westin has provided us a lot of baby accessories like cot, milk warmer, stroller, diaper collector, baby toilet and even mid night milk bottle cleaning service. We definitely give a A+ to Westin Tokyo. Just 1 thing make me feel strange, which is in hotelclub.com website, our package deal should include free internet usage. However Westin Tokyo stated out it is not for free in our deal. So I guess either Westin or hotelclub has to make it clear thru the booking system.

Beautiful property, but.....

Beautiful property with exceptional customer service, however, the non-smoking room requested reeked of smoke and got increasingly worse in the late evening as we were trying to sleep. Don't know if it was coming from the vents, or next door, but it was enough to burn your eyes and keep you from a restful nights sleep. If you can't stand smoke you must change room as soon as you check in (very evident). When we alerted the front desk of our displeasure, the answer was, "Japanese people like to smoke". If you don't mind walking far(10-15 min.) to the train station, appreciate a spacious, clean and well appointed hotel, then the Westin is for you.

Make sure you exit the JR Line from the East Exit if you plan on going back to the Westin. We were turned around and confused several times during our stay after we got off the train and used the wrong exit.

Westin Tokyo great experience

The hotel was immaculate and very easy for a tired and totally non-Japanese speaking business traveler. Had a great snack and a drink at the bar on top of the hotel, as well. Beautiful neighborhood for a walk is just through the front doors.

The Westin Tokyo-classy and comfortable

This is a beautiful and comfortable hotel. The staff was very helpful and polite. They helped exchange currency, gave directions and provided maps and were very kind. My room was clean and elegant. It had both a shower and tub. The location is pleasant 1/2 mile walk to Ebisu subway station, and from there you can get anywhere. I will stay here again.

Buy a Suica card at any train station. These are prepaid debit cards for use on subways and trains and make life very easy when exploring the city. They can be purchased from a machine that has instructions in English and many other languages.

A Fine Hotel

This is a very nice Westin Hotel near Ebisu Garden Shopping area. I would recommend it to anyone. It is about a 8-10 minute walk from the hotel to the Ebisu train station (JR Yamanote Line), much of the walk is through a covered skywalk with moving walkways. The rooms were spacious, considering it was Tokyo. We had a room with 2 queen beds. The housekeeping was excellent. We were near the elevator and did get woken up every night, so if that is a concern, I would ask to have a room further away from elevator bank. The front desk was absolutely wonderful. My son had a medical emergency while we were there and they could not have been more helpful and supportive. I especially would like to say how great the manager, Jun Shigeta was. Most of the staff at the concierge were not that helpful. For example, they couldn't even find out what the Tokyo Metropolitan Building hours were one day. Mostly, they provided maps to places and told me how to get there, but as far as making arrangements for me or providing suggestions, they didn't seem very motivated. This was a dissapointment. We had planned on going to Kyoto and had a full itinerary planned. Due to the medical problem with my son, we had to stay in Tokyo -- so, I could have used the help. We ate at the buffet restaurant several times. The food was fine, there were plenty of delicious options. Service was not fabulous, but it was a buffet, so didn't expect too much there. Nearby Ebisu Gardens has plenty of eating options too, in addition to shopping.
