Always a great getaway

I've been staying at this property every visit to Japan. To me, you can not beat it's location. It is located right across the Shinagawa Station. From there you have access to the JR railways, Keikyu lines and even the Tōkaidō Shinkansen (high speed railway). The staff can speak English well and are very attentive to your needs. You have a convenience store, food court and even the Epson Shinagawa Aqua Stadium and other attractions. Amenities are pretty much standard and rooms are very nice and clean. You have to understand that in Japan the rooms are a little smaller than what you are used to so don't expect to really "stretch out" after you unpack. Closet space are not that big so you may end up keeping some things in your suitcase. At this time there is NO room service so you do have to go out for dinner. The hotel has some very nice Japanese restaurants along with others that serve American style food. The rooms do have paid internet access and there are vending machines on every floor. Overall for me it is a good value and I can save extra "yen" to buy gifts to take home.

The restaurants have great food. But staying in Japan is already expensive. The food court in the hotel has great food for a good value. How it works is you choose a stall you want to order from. Go to that vending machine and pay, then receive the ticket. Give that ticket to the vendor and he will give you a pager. From there you can find a table. When the pager goes off your food is ready.

Great Place for Fresh as well as Exhausted Travelers

After 2 weeks of hopping around Taiwan and Japan, we stayed at Shinagawa Prince Hotel, Main Tower for the last two nights of our trip. It was a very comfortable, consistent, and easy stay, which was great for a couple of exhausted travelers. Our room (again, in the MAIN Tower) was pretty updated, cozy, quiet, and the beds were comfortable. It was a bit on the small side - we could barely open a medium-sized suitcase completely on the floor, but considering price and location, it wasn't a big deal. The room was clean but could be a bit more squeaky clean - a couple of scuffs on the wallcovering in the room and on the tile in the bathroom. Wifi was consistent, very important since wifi is highly unreliable in Japan - even when you pay for the service from a local provider during your trip. Shinagawa Prince hotel is located very conveniently, right across the street from the Shinagawa Station where you can catch many of Tokyo's public transit options: the subway to get you all around the city; the JR train that can get you right to Akihabara, Ueno, and many other places; and the high speed trains that can get you to some day trips outside of Tokyo quickly. It's a good central point for foreigners who get to take advantage of the 7-day JR pass. There are a ton of restaurants and cafe's in the area, as well as a nice super market, and Ramen Alley with six different ramen restaurants, just down the street from the hotel! If you have been eating Japanese food for two weeks and need to switch it up, there are Thai, Chinese, Italian, and American options right on the premises. Really great if you are craving a hearty breakfast and the Japanese raw egg and rice with miso soup isn't cutting it for you. Finding people in Japan who can communicate in English can be a real challenge, so having the concierge and staff at the hotel there to help is really convenient as well. All in all, a reliable, comfortable stay that serves as a great home base during a trip to Tokyo.

There are diverse options on the premises, great if you have been eating Japanese food exclusively for awhile and need to switch it up. There is also a great super market across the street, and Ramen Alley just down the block. Six ramen restaurants all right next to each other!

We stayed 3 nights in the Main Tower.Beautiful view from the window. Great location , cross the street and you are at the JR train station, by train not far from important touristic sites. Staff very friendly. Has the bus to and from Narita airport, tickets in the lobby of the Main Tower.

Great all-purpose hotel in a super convenient location!

I stayed at the Annex Tower years ago and wasn't impressed by the rooms, but the Main Tower is much better in terms of comfort - larger windows, cleanliness, amenities. It's right across from Shinagawa Station on the Yamanote Line and there are stores and restaurants all over, in the hotel as well. Convenient also to airports. Because it's so big, you can go in and out without worrying about turning in your key and staff noticing you (if you're conscious about that).

Convenient location

The hotel is perfectly located, across from the shinagawa station. However, they shoukd have put more signs for the direction to the hotel. We were so close to the hotel, meaning we could see the hotel already, yet we were not sure which way was the entrance. Even asking the worker at the closed by shop did not get the right direction.

First trip to Japan

Hotel is in a great location. Very close to the airport, and right next to the Shinagawa train station. We traveled all around Tokyo and further west during the stay. Getting back to the hotel was very easy and stressless as it's a very short walk from the train. The view to the west was beautiful from our 28th floor room. Restroom facilities were great. Stores of all kinds directly in the hotel made it easy to get things when needed/wanted.

Concierge staff very helpful

The location across from the Shinagawa train station was very useful. There are several good western restaurants nearby. The rooms are small. I wouldn't pay extra again for the higher room. We followed the green cleaning schedule and used the 500 YEN per day for some souvenirs. Don't miss the gardens by the Grand Prince Hotel.

For a modest surcharge we upgraded rooms to the higher tower. View is brilliant...especially if you love trains!Food services inside were pricey but using the supermarket across street one could reduce expense.
