Excellent Budget Hotel for Japan

For Japan, this hotel is in a good location. Business location but about 10 min walk to Hamamsucho station. word of caution if you have the JR pass, you cannot use the Toei line where the Daimon station is at although this is 5 min walk from the hotel. You have to walk 10 min ea time to Hamamasucho to get to the JR station lines. We stayed 2 days then to Kyoto then 3 more days back at this hotel. The best part is the service and direct airport limo bus from Narita. The hotel also arranges for your bus fare back at 3100 yen each way. This saved us a lot of headache with taking the regular subway. I would definitely stay again!

Family getaway

Location was pretty good, easily access to two different subway stations that will take everywhere around Tokyo and near cities without a problem. Besides the restaurants in house, it is close to different types of restaurants. We really enjoyed it.

best bang for your buck

I was expecting a small room but to my great surprise it was bigger then the Keio Hotel room in was in several years ago. Very clean with the excellent service one expects and yet is always glad to re-experience in Japan. Tokyo Tower gleams overhead and many restaurants crowd the nearby streets for your dining pleasure. I sadly missed eating in the hotel itself as the lure of Tokyo called but next time would love to try the 2 star Michelin restaurant inside as well as the classical Japanese one available. Both reasonably priced. I got a great deal on this travel site and would come back here in a heartbeat.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

3 subway/train stops within a short radius and the monorail to Haneda is super easy. Or take the scheduled bus from the hotel to either airport.

Shiba Park! Good Spot~

I felt that the location was very good. It was within walking distance to Tokyo Tower and Zojoji. There are also several metro/subway lines within walking distance, so visiting different parts of the city will not be a problem. There are many food places to eat at, too. In all, a very central location. The rooms were clean and there were enough amenities, and the staff were nice and helpful.

Still a quiet retreat

When I was first introduced to Shiba Park Hotel in 1996, it was a thriving Japanese business hotel...reasonably priced, quiet, and very conveniently located. Today the hotel has become a haven for European and American families and 'back-packers' traveling on a budget. There is no gym or pool and laundry service is expensive and not always available. The lobby is still pretty smoky at times, though the hotel does have non-smoking rooms that don't reek of stale tobacco. There are two buildings...one of which has been newly remodeled. Typcial of Japanese hotels, the pillows and mattresses are hard. The rooms are generally small and spartan, but somehow it all works. The staff is courteous and helpful.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Most of the hotel restaurants are too expensive and mediocre. Your best bet is to eat in one of the many great restaurants in the neighborhood. The hotel staff can give you great maps of the surrounding area and metro system.
