Asakusa rocks!

Good location. Asakusa rocks! So many great little restaurants, the wonderful temple, the new Tourist Information Office with a viewing platform and cafe on 8th floor, cat cafes, and shopping! Easy flat walk with bags to Asakusa Station (exit 2 for elevator) to get to or from Narita Airport on Asakusa-Keisei Skytree line. The room is very small, as usual in Japan, with room for only one suitcase. Wifi only in foyer, but it is free.

Enjoyed our stay

The Sunroute Asakusa is a great reasonably priced hotel. Like every Japanese hotel, the rooms are smaller than European or US rooms but not as small as many other hotels in Tokyo. Our first room had a good double bed, a desk and a chair while the other room had three large single beds and a desk. Both rooms had a bathroom with bath, TV, a fridge and free Internet (wired only, no Wi-Fi). The hotel is very quiet, no street noise, no noise form other rooms. It's in the center of Asakusa, with subway access to Narita & Haneda airports as well as all main Tokyo attractions.

Great mid range hotel at a reasonable price

The rooms at this hotel were very clean and a good size for a Japanese hotel. The bathroom was also slightly larger than the usual tiny capsule bathroom that we are used to seeing whilst travelling in Japan, which was great. The location was fantastic for seeing the beautiful traditional Asakusa, Ueno and surrounding areas, however, tourists who are in Tokyo for the first time, may prefer to stay closer to the tourist draws of Shibuya, Shinjuku and Harajuku. Having visited Tokyo before, we found it a great option to better explore an area that we had only previously seen in short day trips. We would stay at this hotel again as it was fantastic to see the other side of Tokyo, a little further away from the hustle and bustle of the more commercial boroughs. You can also take a great river cruise to Odaiba from Asakusa.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Tokyo River Cruise company offers a nice cruise to Odaiba (or round trip) along the Sumida River. Great to see attractions such as the Rainbow bridge or to stop off at points to see other attractions such as nearby gardens.

A nice hotel

This is a reasonably good hotel in which I have stayed before. It has a very handy Jonathan's coffee restaurant on the second floor. It is because of this and because it is close to the metro and Asakusa I stay here. The reception staff speak english and are very helpful. On the gripe side my room needed to be refurbished as it appeared to me it was beginning to show wear and tear. I was disappointed by this as I have liked this hotel for about 5 years. I would consisder staying here again, but I would probabaly look for something that looked better close to Ueno.

Very conveniently placed hotel

Very conveniently placed hotel for Asakusa and Yamanote line - the staff were always very helpful. Small single rooms all airconditioned, this was the third time I had stayed at this hotel, and will probably stay there again. Also has a very good Jonathan's coffee shop and restaurant on second floor - great breakfasts with a smile from the waitresses! Enjoyed my stay!

good location, okay service

The hotel is conveniently located a block from a metro station. The rooms and service are okay. Our first impression was marred because although we booked a non-smoking room we were given a room that reeked of smoke on a floor that reeked of smoke. The front desk staff eventually found us a room on a non-smoking floor.

Extremely helpful and efficient

Extremely helpful and efficient staff on the reception desk. My second stay here and would recommend this hotel to my friends. Also a very convenient jonathans coffeeshop restuarant on the second floor. My room was kept spotlessly clean by the chamber maid!!! Thank you!
