Could not recommend more highly. Located short walk from commuter rail and JR lines. Can walk all thru Akasaka. No cabs ... necessary as it is literally across the street. Swank and elegant and great views from the garden tower. Loved it!!

I used this hotel, first, as a staging point before climbing Mt Fuji and, subsequently, as a place in which to recover. It ... served admirably in both capacities. Hotel New Otani
CT Jul 27, 2009
This was a very extravagant looking hotel. I was very awe struck upon entering this place. The view from our room was great. ... Besides that, everything was down hill. The sheets had stains all over them and I was thinking this is what you get from a 5 star hotel? Also, you pay so much to spend the night there, you'd expect to get internet service for free, but not the case here. we had to pay 13 bucks or so for internet per night.

Japanese Superfun Hotel Stay
Brian-Paco May 26, 2009
My girlfriend and I enjoyed our stay at Hotel New Otani. The garden is a wonderful sight. Our hotel view displayed the city ... skyline beautifully. The mornings were relaxing as we planned our days to tackle the Tokyo town. Although the restaurants in New Otani are expensive, the quality is there. We went back to the breakfast buffet several times as the view of the garden was wonderful to wake up to in the Japan mornings. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is good. Once you conquer the Tokyo subway (and Toei lines) then you can easily find a safe passage back to the hotel.

I was on a business trip to Tokyo and stayed at the New Otani Hotel. The staff was always pleasent and helpful. Rooms were ... nice - mine offered a view of Tokyo Tower. Location was very good. Subway a short walk away and plenty of resturants just beyond that. I was a little disapointed in the bars within the hotel itself, but with so many nearby it is not really an issue.

Great place to get away
Japanfly May 26, 2009
Great place to get away, for an older person..... The Hotel "New Otani" is one of Tokyo's premier business hotels, that ... means the service is excellent, it is immaculately cleaned, with probably some of the best facilities in Tokyo, but it is geared towards the business class person. Being in my 20's I wanted something a bit more upbeat. The location is great, it is right next to Akasaka station which can connect you to anywhere in Tokyo. Just get a Passmo card with about 3000yen on it and your good to go. I traveled all over Tokyo using the card for 5 days Shibuya, Shinjuku.... ect. The rooms were great, the size of the room was comparable with a suite at a holiday inn. I recommend you walk in the Hotel garden while there, the coy fish are huge. Tokyo Tower is about a 3000yen taxi ride from the hotel. Heneda airport is about a 7000yen taxi ride away. The Hotel has a Shuttle service to Narita. The hotel Otani was an excellent place, with good location and excellent facilities.

The only reason I am giving this hotel a 4 on location is because you have to travel about 30min to get to the party district.

Samurai traveller May 15, 2009
Great business / executive hotel. Frequented by heads of state, senior executives. Good selection of restaurants, fantastic ... teppanyaki steakhouse in the gardens; however in the basement there is a great yakitori restaurant at an attractive price. Walking distance from Akasaka-Mitsuke station. Akasaka area has many 'interesting' establishments, perfect for an evening stroll.

Check out the garden and the cherry trees, either in spring or during the summer. Nice for a relaxing walk after a long day.

--HoustonGuy, Houston,TX May 11, 2009
Rather than rely on the hotel restaurant facilities, walk a short clip towards and slightly beyond the Asasaka-Mitsuke subway for much more affordable dining options. In terms of dining options (aside from the "Cafe Lounge") the restaurants are "tourist traps"... too expensive for not enough value.
--JCH, South China (but USA citizen) May 8, 2009
Try the restaurant located in these centuries old gardens and enjoy viewing the lovely waterfall, koi ponds, and gardens with evening lighting.
--Nini, southern California Apr 22, 2009
There are several nice dining options in the hotel. Don't forget to check the basement selections. They are not cheap, however, but certainly first class. If you speak Japanese, that is a definite plus.
