Good location, pleasant room
Small room, but pleasant and attractive. Nice air conditioning on a hot day. Free wifi worked well. Location is very convenient to Ginza shopping district. Friendly and polite staff.

Small hotel rooms in tokyo aren't aways functional
First of all make sure you have the correct hotel room. There is a 5 star Hotel Monterey down the block, this review is for the Hotel Monterey La Soeur Ginza, which is most definitely not 5 star. Hotel rooms in tokyo tend to be small, but the managers chose to stuff this limited space with massive furniture typical of a sprawling days inn in Oklahoma. The consequence is a completely non-functional room with 4 inches of space between the bed on every side, a 2 foot wide hallway, and a bathroom that you can't turn around in. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful but not knowledgeable about the area or general tourism questions (e.g. where can I get a map?). If you get this room at a very cheap price it might be worth it but at 125 a night I wouldn't stay there again.

Time-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
There is metro access to all the major lines if you are willing to walk a few blocks. This will save you from having to switch lines.

Convenient location, tiny stuffy space
Like described with many of the other reviewers, the rooms are small, even for a double. Ours was comfortable but unfortunately very stuffy. Hard to get circulating air inside even though they have knee-high ionizer to purify the air. We should have gotten them to open the window. You really need to step out of the way to open up the bathroom door and navigate around your significant other as you get dressed. But you really do get a very convenient location with friendly staff, and there is a stable wi-fi connection so our iPhones and laptops were happy.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
The cakes at Henri Charpentier just a block away are extremely delicious, especially the chou creme and macarons. For good convenient eats, do visit the underground department stores by the JR station, and if you go around 8 or 8:30pm, they begin to have discounts on their packaged meals for 30-50% off before closing. Great for late night snack or cheap dinner after a long day.

Overall very good hotel
Overall a very good hotel, excellent customer service, great location, very clean, the only downside is breakfast is not included and if you are used to large hotel rooms then be reminded that youre in tokyo not las vegas, very helpful front desk staff, kudos! Would definitely recommend.

Good location
I probably would not have found the location on my own, but was fortunate to have my friend take me there. Once there, I realized how closs it was to many of the attractions in the Ginza area. Also, there is another Monterey Hotel nearby called the Monterey Ginza (same chain), so at first it can be confusing. I enjoyed the "American" breakfast in the nice little restaurant downstairs.

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
Go to the "de pa to" (department stores) that are nearby, several of them, then go to the basement to buy prepared food - very inexpensive way to dine. Over at Matsuzakaya De pa to, the restaurants on the upper levels are very reasonably priced - Japanese, Italian, Chinese, etc available.

Fantastic position for walking
Fantastic position for walking the Ginza and inner Tokyo area. Close to subway/rail stations to connect to Haneda and Narita airports. Perfect for our requirements. Rooms are smallish but you expect that in Tokyo and to stay so close to the centre - it was exceptional value. Staff show exceptional politeness.

cozy hotel
our family booked two rooms in this hotel. even though we expected rooms are small, we didn't realize they were SO small before we arrived. the cozy rooms had all facilities needed. service was good. location was great. people at front desk were very helpful and spoke some english. it was very warm inside the room though it's very cold outside. overall we like the hotel. but we may find a larger one in tokyo next time.

Nightlife tip:
Short walk from hotel
ginza is, of course, the best district in tokyo with plentiful activaties you can enjoy. it's also very convenient to reach all major landmarks via subway from ginza. a two day pass is about 950 yen, a good deal and time saver.

Room (double) was very small -
Room (double) was very small - just enough room for the bed and and small desk at the foot of the bed. Had to rearrange the furniture to open our suitcases! Other than that, bedroom and bathroom were clean and neat. Staff spoke very good English and were very polite and helpful. They were happy to keep our luggage for the day after we checked out. It's in quite a posh area, although we were only here for 1 night so didn't explore the location too much. It is just round the corner from Ginza-itchome station (Yurakucho line), but beware that this line closes a bit earlier than some other lines. It can be reached in a few minutes' drive from Yurakucho station (JR) - we paid the mininum fare of 720 yen to the hotel from here at night, although you should try to get hold of the hotel's address in Japanese or its location on a map with Japanese road names to show the taxi driver. There was a convenience store (think it was Family Mart) round the corner.

It's a small room to fit in luggages
It's a small room to fit in luggages for 2 person (with standard double room) on first day of arrival. Good location but size does matter. Please check and compare with (other hotel) opposite the street.
