Hotel Metro Politan Tokyo

Excellent location, easy to reach the metro/train and all what a visitor needs. Use the back entrance of the hotel to reach to the metropolitan mall. The limousine service from and to Haneda airport was convenient. I greatly recommend for Tokyo visitors.

Where's the transportation!

[...] When I made my reservation, I was to told to call the hotel for transportation when I reach the airport. However, I had difficulty calling them. This was a scary situation. Thankfully, they had a good transportation service to the hotels.

One of the largest shopping is near the Hotel. The bottom floor of the hotel is a food court, where you can buy inexpensive food.

Great option for the price

Hotel Metropolitan is a great choice for budget minded travelers. Located in Ikebukuro, it is very close to the Ikebukuro subway station and lots of dining and shopping options. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Ovest on the 25th floor is worth visiting for a drink and a sprawling Tokyo view. The guest room was very small and frills free, but it was clean and up to date.

last two days in Tokyo

After staying in Tokyo and then going to other parts of Japan we returned to Tokyo for a few days before leaving. The hotel is located in an area that has a lot of homeless laying around. The hotel was uunder construction so it was noisy from 8am to 6pm. Our view was of the construction debris. The hotel is big and there was a large international guest presence. People were loud in the halls at night and in the morning. I would stay at a smaller, more Japanese hotel next time for the quiet atmosphere.

Okay hotel but...

It was very confusing to find the hotel, met other tourists outside the Metropolitan Plaza reading a city map looking for where the hotel was. Staff excellent, room bigger than the Japanese standard, but will probably stay closer to Tokyo station to be closer to attractions in Tokyo.

Go out the East entrance of Ikebukuro Station to find Don Quiote and a 100 yen store and cheaper places to eat.

Great location!

Hotel was perfectly located: walking distance to train station, great happening neighborhood, lots of restaurants/shops. Was very disappointed at the $21 fee per person for the health club, as well as the health club hours (opens at 9:30 on Sat/Sun). Was also told upon check in that the pool is only a two lane lap pool, and is also $21 person (altho may be included if u pay for the health club). Our kids were disappointed as we'd promised they could swim. Ridiculous price and they never advertised that the pool was so small. Also, wi fi is an extra charge. Again, seems cheap. Other than that, hotel was clean, hot showers, clean rooms.

The best you can get for the price if you want to enjoy Tokyo

I love the location of this hotel, it is a minute walk from the Ikebukuro station which can take you nearly anywhere in tokyo. The staff all spoke very good english and were incredibly helpful. There were only two issues I had at this hotel, it was a bit cramped. We constantly had issues walking around the room, it was just me and my wife and our luggage/shoes were always in the way due to a lack of space in the room. Secondly the shower head, which constantly pointed off to the wall, the only way I could get it to point straight was to wedge a towel in it. But back to the positive, the view from our room was marvelous. The hotel itself is very snazzy and feels a bit more upscale than the room itself did. But at the end of the day for the price this hotel cannot be beat, it is well worth every penny. Highly recommended.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

There is a Metropolitan Exit from Ikebukuro Station which is a minute walk from the hotel and is the easiest/least crowded way between the station and hotel.

The good, the bad, and the really ugly

We arrived at 11.oo deadly tired after the long-haul flight, but the hotel staff informed us that they couldn't check us into the room until the official earliest checkin in time 14.oo. Rooms comfortable though small, would not suit people with children or those used to lots of space.

JR station a few step away (2 min), very helpful if you want to get around Tokyo if on JR Pass. Hotel is located in the Ikebukuro area wih lots of restaurants, cafes and other shops, good if you don't want to have your breakfast in the hotel. Tip for breakfast: Cafe Du Monde opposite the Metro/JR entrance (Metropolitan Plaza).

Good location

Very nice location. close to the train station & a lot of little restaurants. You shld try the Mos Burger. It's a bomb! The bad part was we were given a smoking room.So be careful, they have smoking rooms though their add says all non-smoking rooms. Our room was 834.But overall, our stay was nice. By the way, they deodorized our room the next day.
