Japan 2010 Trip

First impression...SUGOI! (awesome) The hotel staff was very friendly, spoke English well, and always helpful. The rooms were very nice and clean. We had a beautiful view of Ikebukuro-Tokyo. The location is just a few blocks away from the Main JR train station which was very convenient. It is also in a business district so there are a lot of great restaurants and bars near by. The area is not too crowded so you dont feel "rushed" like some other towns in Tokyo. If you plan on traveling around Japan, this is the hotel to stay at!

Plan your trip in advance, get some maps for the local areas you travel. If its applicable, get the unlimited JR Rail Pass at your local Travel agent. Its about 28000 Yen (about $300 USD) but totally worth it. Especially if you ride the Shinkansen (bullet train) to various locations outside Tokyo. The pass allows unlimited train rides for the duration of the pass. For example one way on the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto was approx 13500 yen. So you can do the math. Me and my fiance' got it and it was totally worth every cent!!!

A nice hotel, good location!

The staffs here can speak English. They are very nice with good service. When you ask the front desk about the surroundings, they will show you a map and teach you how to go. There are several shopping malls nearby, it is very good for shopping. The train station is also very close to the hotel, all of those are walking distance. The room is small, however, it is acceptable, you can see the view of Tokyo clearly from the room's big windows.

Five star Hotel - one of the best I've stayed in

I saved this review for last from our 2 week trip in Japan. This hotel was top in all categories. Staff was amazing - bell hops were there the instant you got to the front desk and were courtious and professional beyound expectations. For 2 nights we had a tatami room which had a large room and table which was later moved and replaced with 3 futon cushions. Very nice experience. The third night later in our trip we had a western style room which was excellent. Finding the hotel can be a little tricky (seems to be consistent with most Japanese hotels). Easiest way from train station is to go toward the Metropolitan plaza and once outside take the escalator up to street level, turn left and go 1 block - hotel on corner (Across the street from a Mos burger).. This would be my first choice for future visits.

Metropolitan Tokyo

I went to Tokyo to spend time with family, tour around, and shop. Hotel Metropolitan is nearly across the street from Ikebukuro Station which is very helpful for quickly accessing mass transit. Some of the best shopping in the world is just a few minutes walk away. There are many options for food and drinks inside the hotel with typical hotel prices for Japan. The staff are very helpful. The only drawback was that I went cheap and got the economy double for two woman to share. Once you add in the amount of baggage and stuff that gets thrown around the room when two women share, the room becomes tiny. I'd recommend paying attention to the room measurements when reserving.
