Five star Hotel - one of the best I've stayed in
I saved this review for last from our 2 week trip in Japan. This hotel was top in all categories. Staff was amazing - bell hops were there the instant you got to the front desk and were courtious and professional beyound expectations. For 2 nights we had a tatami room which had a large room and table which was later moved and replaced with 3 futon cushions. Very nice experience. The third night later in our trip we had a western style room which was excellent. Finding the hotel can be a little tricky (seems to be consistent with most Japanese hotels). Easiest way from train station is to go toward the Metropolitan plaza and once outside take the escalator up to street level, turn left and go 1 block - hotel on corner (Across the street from a Mos burger).. This would be my first choice for future visits.

The good, the bad, and the really ugly
We arrived at 11.oo deadly tired after the long-haul flight, but the hotel staff informed us that they couldn't check us into the room until the official earliest checkin in time 14.oo. Rooms comfortable though small, would not suit people with children or those used to lots of space.

Time-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
JR station a few step away (2 min), very helpful if you want to get around Tokyo if on JR Pass. Hotel is located in the Ikebukuro area wih lots of restaurants, cafes and other shops, good if you don't want to have your breakfast in the hotel. Tip for breakfast: Cafe Du Monde opposite the Metro/JR entrance (Metropolitan Plaza).

An affordable and centrally located
An affordable and centrally located hotel. Only drawback was that some internet listing posted that the swimming pool was free for hotel guests but it was not the case. Otherwise it was a very pleasant and memorable stay at the hotel. Will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who intends to visit Tokyo, Japan.

The main concern is about the
The main concern is about the procedure for keeping your luggage at concierge after check out. For security, it is better to hang a tag on the luggage right away and give a card to the guest for picking up back the luggage. Not just by mouth.

I love this hotel. This hotel
I love this hotel. This hotel is maybe about 2 blocks away from Ikebukuro Station where you can catch the JR trains, the Metro & I believe there was another Private train line there as well. It's a very convenient location. I stayed there for three nights when I just got to Tokyo & then stayed there again for one night when I came back to Tokyo before leaving the following day. I got an upgraded room on my second stay there. I would definitely stay here again if I travel to Tokyo again!

The location was perfect, close
The location was perfect, close to trains, restaurants, pubs. The room was quite small, but recently decorated and clean, we ate at the cross straights in the hotel, a buffet, we didnt feel as though we were eating late at 8pm, but felt rushed, we were told it closed for food at 9pm, the buffet was running low and they didnt replenish, the deserts in particular were sparse. We had a drink in the orient bar, it was a nice experience, good waiting staff.

The hotel is a worthy 4 star.
The hotel is a worthy 4 star. It is good value for money compared to the other hotel in Tokyo as we have stayed in other hotel on our return leg. It is not located in Shinjuku, but Ikebukuro is only 10 minutes from Shinjuku on JR Yamanote line. It is worth the hassle. Service is out of this world.
