Tokyo getaway
The staff were extremely helpful and polite. The room was clean. Free internet via cable, but no wireless. Had currency exchange in basement and bus to airport right at the hotel. Subway was across the street. Many shops and restaurants close by. I would definitely stay here again.

Outstanding service
I have stayed at this hotel many times in the past few years and I have always found its room prices are fair considering the central location. This time I booked a superior room with double bed, bath/shower and with free Internet. Storage & hanging space are limited so plan to keep items in your suitcase and a drawer safe, Very comfortable size for several days' stay. The hotel is so close to the Tokyo metro and department stores you are not limited to the hotel amenities - this time I was unwell and the outstanding customer service support really saved the day. Highly recommended..

Avoid the rather expensive coffee bar in the hotel but take breakfast in the Cross Dine restaurant, which is reasonably priced, given the quality & choice offered.

Night
pretty good
might of been lucky but I got a room on the 15th floor with a pretty good view. Think I had a single, room was okay sized. Hotel in excellent location, like 1-3 minutes from Ikebukuro station, convenient stores and restaurants nearby as well. Think alot of the staff spoke English tho didn't talk to them too much. Anyways cant beat the location, I'll definitely stay here again in the future.

Five star Hotel - one of the best I've stayed in
I saved this review for last from our 2 week trip in Japan. This hotel was top in all categories. Staff was amazing - bell hops were there the instant you got to the front desk and were courtious and professional beyound expectations. For 2 nights we had a tatami room which had a large room and table which was later moved and replaced with 3 futon cushions. Very nice experience. The third night later in our trip we had a western style room which was excellent. Finding the hotel can be a little tricky (seems to be consistent with most Japanese hotels). Easiest way from train station is to go toward the Metropolitan plaza and once outside take the escalator up to street level, turn left and go 1 block - hotel on corner (Across the street from a Mos burger).. This would be my first choice for future visits.

Fantastic!!
Best hotel service we've ever experienced. Hotel employees were friendly, welcoming, and many spoke English, which was a big help. Hotel is literally a 2 minute walk to Ikebukuro station. Dining at the hotel was great but there are also many other places to eat around it.

Unbeatable location and service for the
I was impressed! The staff was extremely professional, courteous, friendly and helpful (noted that most of the bell staff are now women and they are excellent...very polite). I should mention that the "Bellman" who checked me in at about 2:00a.m. was very gracious and efficient... he even politely refused my tip. This facility has kept up with the times, is clean and efficiently run. The service this time seemed better than the last. The Metro is the place for me whenever I visit Tokyo...(by the way I am a retired Hotelier)...my American relatives feel the same way. FYI, my nephew who lives in Tokyo was also impressed with the graciousness of the staff...and he is very familiar with a lot of the hotels in Tokyo. The convenience of this hotel to the various transportation modes, dining facilities and shopping make it an excellent choice for any visitor.

I stayed at Sunroute Plaza Hotel
I stayed at Sunroute Plaza Hotel Shujuku for my first 2 nights and decided to shift to Metro Hotel for the weekend to save some money. I was skeptical at first after reading mixed reviews, but decided to try anyways. Departed from Shunjuku Station for Ikebukuro station which is also a main subway hub. Cost 150 yen/pax one way. 4 JR Stations later, I arrived at Ikebukuro. Hotel is only a block away. Very convenient. Some eateries and malls nearby, but definitely not as many as Shunjuku. However, good reasonably-priced hotel to stay as a base to go visit Tokyo. All receptionists speak English. There is free LAN internet in the room. No wifi in room or hotel lobby unless you have a FON login acc for wifi in lobby. Normal supplies provided (toothbrush, shaver, shampoo, cotton-bugs, hair-dryer etc. There are English channels (BBC, CNN). Great value for its price. (between USD 100-140/night for 2 consecutive nights booking. If it cost more, you could be better off staying in Shunjuku.
