econ biz hotel

club room, balcony, smoking room not available :-(, nice view! 1/3 price for Courtyard Ginza, my usual hotel. Happy hour was just beer, wine, one liquor choice, bagged snacks. Breakfast was toast, cereal, coffee, canned juice, banana.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

TGI Fridays and Outback Steak house offer familiar western food but are quite expensive. best value is getting food at local supermarkets and convenience stores. Beer/wine/sandwiches/etc. much cheaper at 7-11 stores/Lawson/Family-Mart than in the mini-bar/Room Service.

overall it is a quality hotel, room is comfortable maintain very clean and tidy One thing no good is no wifi in the room, have to go to the lobby for connections then i will find the speed is so slow in the public areas I was in the club floor for the past four weeks, room is clean. Have rented a laptop for urgent use, but charged with YEN 2000 for 24 hours, while it does not allow to load certain documents .

Massive hotel

The New Takanawa is part of a large Prince Hotel Complex. This hotel is a Large Tourist Hotel and not a 4 star. The rooms while large are spartan in appointments and furniture. No closet for clothing, only a small wall rack capable of holding a few items. Bathroom Fixtures more in keeping with a Japanese "Business" hotel. The hotel restaurants do not offer any a la carte breakfasts. Look forward to a long line at the breakfast buffet.

Hotel Room Issues

Although a quite large hotel with excellent and attentive staff, it falls short in comfort issues. Bedding is less the standard. Bathroom is quite small and really on the "Japanese Business" hotel standard. Room furniture was spartan; no closet and a very small hangar rack that could accommodate only a articles of clothing.

Trip to Tokyo

It is about 5 min walk to Shinagawa station. There is a shuttle bus service but you need to make a reservation in advance. Staff was very helpful when we had to change a room. There are 3 Prince hotels in the same area and the Japanese garden in the middle. Beautiful cherry blossoms. The only draw back is free Wifi is only available the lobby. It was inconvenient not to have a Wifi in room.

In Shinagawa station, there is a nice grocery store that you can buy bento (lunch box). There is 7 Eleven on the first floor of New Takanawa where you can buy drinks (including beer) and snacks.

Great location and friendly staff

This was our first trip to Japan and the Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa was a super hotel to stay in. We had a superior room with a lovely view of the Tokyo tower. The balcony was very small, just enough room for two people to stand and admire the view. The room was very comfortable, we stayed in three hotels in Japan and this was definitely the most spacious. The hotel is a 10 minute gentle walk from the main Shiganawa railway station up a hill but anyone is reasonable health will manage it no problem. The courtesy bus to Disney is a great facility and runs 2-3 times in the morning with a couple of return trips in the evening. This was a lot quicker than going by train. If we ever visit Tokyo again, we will stay here.

Dining tip: Not Applicable

The hotel offers a Green Service policy. In exchange for not having your room cleaned every day, they give you a 1000 yen voucher which you can use in the hotel. This is based on your length of stay, the room must be cleaned every third day. Breakfast is available in the café in the basement for 1000 yen each or to buy pastries to take away. The full buffet breakfast in the restaurant was 27000 yen each. We did not use the restaurant so cannot comment on value for money The main Prince Shiganawa Hotel has a food court on the second floor which was good value and was on the way back to the Grand Prince Hotel.
