Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa/Shinagawa area

Main train station Shinagawa Station is just 5 min walking distance which can connect you to many destinations, very calm environment good for holiday accomadation, however the service level of front desk personnels are just average perhaps due to language barrier. Never expect free early check-in even though the room is available i.e be prepared to pay extra 50% of the room rate if you arrived "as late as" 10.45am to request for early check-in.

This is a very good hotel and conveniently located less than ten minutes walk to Shinagawa JR station. The staff are most helpful and my room (Superior) abundant in size.

This was our first trip to Japan and the Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa was a super hotel to stay in. We had a superior room with a lovely view of the Tokyo tower. The balcony was very small, just enough room for two people to stand and admire the view. The room was very comfortable, we stayed in three hotels in Japan and this was definitely the most spacious. The hotel is a 10 minute gentle walk from the main Shiganawa railway station up a hill but anyone is reasonable health will manage it no problem. The courtesy bus to Disney is a great facility and runs 2-3 times in the morning with a couple of return trips in the evening. This was a lot quicker than going by train. If we ever visit Tokyo again, we will stay here.

Decent price for Tokyo, excellent location in Shinagawa, near to the station, which has Shinkansen (bullet train), Narita Airport Express and local trains, so it's very convenient. Be warned that there is a reasonably steep hill to get to the hotel - worse at dusk, in rush hour and when raining (all 3 happened on our arrival). The signposting to the hotel was a bit lacking, and despite a Japanese speaker/reader we took wrong turns on our way there. The hotel itself is not as new as the name suggests and our room looked rather dated - made worse by the excessive use of various floral designs everywhere. The restaurants were good, you get a 20% discount as a guest. Also, they have an incentive program whereby if you elect not to have your room cleaned one day of a >2 day stay you get a voucher to use at the restaurants or shops. Overall a good base for exploring Tokyo - good location, reasonably priced, just don't expect modern 4/5 star facilities.

It was a bad start for me to be asked to pay an extortionate amount of money because I wanted to check in a little over one hour early. Even though I was desperate for a shower and some sleep after an overnight flight from London I decided to wait....only to find that my room was still not ready at the appointed time (2pm). They really should reconsider this policy it is very annoying and unwelcoming....when I finally got to my room things started looking up and the hotel fulfilled all it's promises from then on...a very pleasant place to stay...good location....but no one could help me set up the wifi for my Ipad (lobby only, for a fee) very disappointing since this was one of the main reasons I picked this hotel, I found later that in general Tokyo is not well set up for Wifi...this is not a 5 star hotel in my opinion it is a good 3 star....the restuarants are overpriced, the pool is not worth the effort or the fee. The staff were lovely and the location is excellent..

nice hotel convenient to shinagawa station.stayed on seventh floor room was very clean and spacious.hotel is part of the disney friendly chain with a free shuttle to disney sea and disneyland tokyo.reception staff very friendly and helpfull with attraction ideas.

I normally stay at Shinagawa Prince, but liked the Grand Prince New Takanawa hotel much better. I was given an upgrade to the womans only floor for only 2000 yen. It was large (38m) with sofa and two stuffed chairs as well as the 2 beds. The bathroom was luxurious and the staff very courteous. For a room in Tokyo, the price was good.

An excellent hotel, beautiful spacious room, extremely polite and helpful staff. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Before the trip I had food poisoning and the day I was to travel the generator fell out of the plane, so I missed a whole day. 14 hours of flight and wondering into soviet air space and being greated by a mig fighter was different. The hotel was an oasis for a sick traveler. I still got my room arriving a day late and I got reimbursed for the night I missed. I had a perfect view of the Tokyo Tower from my 11th floor room. The cleanliness of the room put US hotels to shame. The staff were very friendly and would go out of their way to help you. It is a 5 minute walk uphill from Shinagawa station, which took me to all of the sites I wanted to see. The room was a good size and I never felt cramped. Shinagawa station has a 24 hour convenience store and TGI Friday,Outback and McD's were on the same road to the hotel. I will be going back and hope to stay in the same hotel. Oeno Park is where you want to go for the zoo and the museums. Sensoji temple is a 40 minute walk from the Oeno Park train station.

a top hotel in a very convenient across the road from JR Shinagawa. Rooms, service etc were all A+. loads of restuarants and convenience stores close by. Would happily stay there again. Room service and hotel restaurants very expensive.
