Dining tip: In Hotel

The French restaurant serves an okay buffet, but the dinner fare is pretty good. Very close t what you would find in a very good French restaurant. The only downside is that they don't serves escargot, they serve snails (out of shell), which is British, not French.

Overpriced

This is my second visit to the Grand Hyatt Tokyo in Roppongi and will be my last. Upon my last stay I was asked by the gym/spa staff to be "please" cover my tattoos while in the gym, sauna or common areas. Upon every subsequent to the facilities visit during that trip I was reminded every time when signing in - ok, I got it… I decided to try the breakfast buffet at the French restaurant on the second floor one morning which is around $35 US - surely at this price it has to be amazing. Nope, basic omelette, and fruit - nothing to write home about. The cafe "Lauderdale" across the street is half the price and twice as good; you just have to walk and extra 50 yards. I returned this year, again on business, and made sure to bring a gym shirt that came down to my elbow so as to cover my tattoos, however when lifting a brief amount becomes exposed. The first day I was asked again to make sure while using the sauna or relaxation areas to keep a towel over my shoulders and arms - apparently enough was covered in the gym at least for that day. I returned to the gym later in the trip wearing the same shirt. Apparently however the small portion of a tattoo that was still exposed offended one of the 2 (yes seriously 2) patrons in the gym and the staff approached me. While approaching me the staff member reached in her pocket and pulled out large adhesive Ace-style bandages and offered to "help me cover the tattoos" with the bandages. I said no - no way, I would just leave. Mind you - there are no postings anywhere regarding this discriminatory practice, apparently its just at the judgement of whomever is on staff that day. Aside from this the staff is about 50/50 on customer service. I have had very helpful individuals on staff and those that would be more suited for managing a Circle K with their attitude towards Westerners. For the price of this hotel - the service should be spot-on every time. I made my complaints known in a survey I received from a regional Hyatt customer service manager who informed me that they were "reviewing some policies" but the lack of a follow-up,or any sort of apology leads me to believe there is not much concern. So in short - if you have any exposed tattoos, appreciate consistent customer service, value a room bigger than a cracker jack box, and enjoy a good breakfast to start your day this is not the hotel for you.

Amazing Tokyo Experience

Their are several things in the Grand Hyatt Hotel that were well worth the price. The Spa located on the 5th floor was absolutly stunning. The best thing about the hotel in my opinion was the shower inside the room. The spacious "Waterfall" design was absolutly perfect. Once you step under that waterfall type shower you will not want to get out.
