I've stayed at the Osaka and Ginza locations and they're all excellent. This hotel has a distinctly old European feel to it as you can see from the pictures. Daily room cleaning was excellent and the front desk was courteous (as always). Although
I noticed a few marks on the walls and such (prob. from people scraping their luggage against them, etc.), the room was very clean- so clean that if I walked on the hardwood floors with my white socks on, they were still white on the bottoms!
The location doesn't get much better. It's about a 2-3 min walk from the front entrance of the JR Sendai Station (Shinkansen). I made day trips to both Matsushima and Yamadera, which were amazing. Sendai Station is so large and has several floors of dining as well as a ton of places selling local specialties and 'omiage'. And there are connected malls such as Parco and S-Pal, as well as a number of larger stores (Loft, Tsutaya, EBeanS) connected to the station via over-street walkways. You could easily spend a few days around the station and not get bored. There is also the large and long 'shotengai' indoor street mall just a few blocks north of the hotel.
I would stay at this hotel if I visited Sendai again. Sendai is a great hub for the northern part of Honshu. The hotel is also set up for light conventions and weddings. I would imagine the later would be wonderful. Also, I sort of regret not going to the spa when I was there. Maybe next time!

Long walk from hotel
I wanted to rent a bicycle and found a good place, but it's about a 15 minute walk from the hotel- but it's a nice walk. The place is called 'Ecochari'. Google: ecochari sendaikasugacho. The page is in Japanese, but the guy there speaks English too. It was 500 yen (+4500 yen deposit) for a bike for one day. Cash only. The bike was a bit old, but did the job. I rode it 20+ miles around Sendai- all the way to the beach and back. To get to Ecochari, I walked west down the Ichibancho Arcade ('shotengai'- look for the looong glass roof on Google maps) and made a right (north) until I reached the big tree-lined street, Jozenji Dori. Left on that street (it's a beautiful walk!) until you hit the end, and then make a right. One block down on your right- boom.
