I chose the Ramada for its location and its good reviews about the staff, particularly their English ability. I did not need them to solve any unusual problems, but I would say they lived up to their reputation. The rooms were very clean; my queen
bed was extremely comfortable and cozy. The in-house restaurants were a bit pricy, but I found the Chinese buffet acceptable at 2000 yen. For cheap eating, convenience stores and fast food are adjacent to the hotel. I was in Kansai mainly to see the shrines and museums, so having a room one subway stop from Umeda was very convenient. It would have been best if the subways were open all night, but obviously that's not the Ramada's fault.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Long walk from hotel
The Ramada is relatively close to the Umeda area, which was convenient as the central transit hub of the entire Kansai region. However, the nightlife in Umeda is decisively inferior to that of the Namba area; next time I'll stay in the latter. Subways close at midnight, and taxis are too expensive in Japan for most travelers.

Ramada Osaka an Excellent Hotel
I've stayed at the Ramada Osaka four times now, each while either on my way to or from the Kansai International Airport. Each time the rooms have been immaculately clean and the hotel has been very quiet. Easily it's greatest advantage is its
connection to the Nakatsu station on the Midousuji subway line. This station is only one down from Osaka's huge Umeda station and thus immensely easy to get to, especially coming from Kyoto.
