I needed a place to stay for one night in Osaka, and New Osaka Hotel was perfect. It's directly across for the Shin-Osaka train station on the JR Line, and right outside the Osaka Subway. A clean, simple hotel with good amenities. The rooms were
smaller than your Western hotel, but that's to be expected in Japan. All in all, a very good place to stay!
The hotel location was great, but the room was so small, even for us, (I am 4 ft 10 inches & hubby is 5 ft 7 inches). We stayed in a double room, but since there was no closet or place to put our suitcase, it made the room even more crowded. I
can't comment on any other room, but this was definitely the smallest room we have ever been in Japan..Definitely would not recommend this hotel to any couple traveling with more than one small suitcase/backpack.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Short walk from hotel
Yoshinoyas is a fast food Japanese restaurant, good Japanese breakfast for about 600 yen - rice, pickles, soup, Salmon, and natto (fermented soy beans) with hot tea. Or you can eat their Teriyaki beef or chicken bowl for about the same price. Delicious!
It's next to the train station so that's great for foreigners. Good if you need to jet out to Kansai airport. The hotel itself seemed clean enough, but it shouldn't have the word "new" in the name... it's old and rooms are tiny. It feels like a
business man's Japanese hotel. They gave a free drink which was nice (you need it to relax in the atmosphere). Staff was friendly enough, but the hotel policies are strict. Don't expect to be let into your room before 3pm, and get out promptly!
