Naha, being the capital island, is the most accessible part of all the islands in Okinawa for tourists, with its vibrant city, beach resorts and historical monument area. The hotel is a good first class property for sightseeing and business. (1208NN) The building is a high-rise 11-storey modern building. The hotel is centrally located in Naha city, 15 minutes drive from Naha Airport, and a ten minutes walk to the downtown area. The nearest beach, which is called Naminoue Beach is a 15 minutes walk from hotel.

Nice Hotel with Good Location

The location of this hotel isn't bad. We were able to walk from the Kencho-mae station. At the station, there is a map of the Kencho-mae area, which has the Washington Hotel on it (though, it may be written in hiragana). Basically, coming out of the monorail station, go left down the main road. Keep looking on your left side and you'll be able to see the hotel (it's tall), though it isn't directly off the main road. Sorry I can't remember the exact streets we turned on, but we did spot it from the main road on our way to the beach. It's not a bad walk, but if you have a lot of luggage or you're extremely tired, there are many taxis that will happily take your business outside the monorail station. The hotel itself doesn't look much from the outside, but inside, it is very pleasant. There's a small souvenir shop, as well as a buffet area. We didn't eat at the buffet, so I can't tell you how good it is. It looked pretty fancy, though, and it was around $20 per adult. The room looked a bit dated, but it was very clean. Also, most Japanese hotels we've been to have been extremely small. Our room here, however, had quite a bit of space, which was a pleasant change. They don't provide you with razors and brushes as other hotels do, but shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and q-tips were all provided. Staff was very friendly. Check-in and check-out were very simple, as with most Japanese hotels. We just gave them our passports for check-in and handed in our key for check-out. We were very surprised, however, that we reserved a room for two people, but they only provided us with one key. Perhaps you have to ask for the second key. The location was quiet. Overall, I'd stay here again.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

The major shopping district is a bit of a walk from the hotel, but I wouldn't call it a "long walk." It was definitely tolerable. Just go out to the main road and head right towards the station. Right below the monorail station is a major crossing area. From there, you'll be able to see the shopping district, which has all sorts of Okinawan goodies and nice places to eat. There's also convenient stores, coffee shops, and places with live music. If you go off of the main shopping area into one of the little side shopping streets, you'll find it gets much bigger than it looks (you could get lost in there) and you should be able to spot some good deals.
