Good bang for money

It is not a fancy hotel, but it is clean and a great location for a stopover near Narita Airport. It is only 2 blocks from Narita train station. There is a free shuttle to and from the airport, but it does not run very frequently. That is one area that I wish they could improve.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

It is worth walking to Naritasan Temple and its Japanese Garden. The street up to the temple is interesting and quaint, and the temple and the garden are beautiful.

No swimming

Hotel is OK overall. Pros: Location is great for access to both train lines. The view from the room was great and the climate control was quiet and comfortable. Cons: The swimming pool was closed the whole week we were there even though it was advertised as a hotel amenity. It was misleading to advertise a swimming pool with inviting pictures of the pool that was not available. Also the fitness center was pretty drab and there may have been an additional charge to use it. The room had a persistent dank smell and the carpet was definitely old and worn.

The hotel is located in a busy older run-down area that is focused on the needs of airline flight crews. The food in the vicinity is mediocre and there are no real stores or markets. The best feature of the location is that is is literally between both train lines.

Great for long lay-over

I stayed here for my layover in Narita. Free shuttle back and forth, which was helpful. The room is fine, the only drawback is the cleanliness of the bathroom that had left over hair from previous guest, yuck! But overall, will recommend!!

Narita City

The hotel shows its age a little, but the location cannot be any better, the room was sufficient, and the staff was friendly. I wish the free hotel shuttle would run a little more frequently, but the hotel is not too far from Narita train station if you have to take a train instead of a shuttle.

Ramenbayashi (ramen shop) has a menu in English, and they cater to the international flight crew a lot. McDonald's is very close if you are not an adventurous eater. The convenience store nearby has a lot of food too if you want to go cheap.

Cnvenientky located in Narita

The Mercure is conveniently located in the town of Narita, across from the train station. They offer a free shuttle to and from the airport every other hour. It's a typical "business" hotel in Japan, with small but comfortable rooms at a very good price. A buffet breakfast (and lunch) are available at additional cost, which is pricey, but the breakfast is good.

Very convenient for overnight stay during layover

The location is very convenient for an overnight layover in Narita. It's right outside of Narita subway station, and they also have a free airport shuttle. Staff is friendly. There're a number of restaurants inside the hotel, and if you feel adventurous, there're quite a few options within walking distance from the hotel.
