Just one night

Would recommend Sat, Dec 5, 2015
We were in Kyoto for just one night and did not need wi-fi so I really can't rate that. All other areas of the stay were fine. We wanted to take the bus to the Golden Pavalion and they had a ready made sheet on the bus number and location stops.

Recent trip to Kyoto

Would recommend Tue, Nov 3, 2015
My room here was pretty spacious by Japanese standards. In Tokyo my room was much, much smaller. The bed was comfortable and so were the pillows. The hotel was close to many restaurants and attractions. My only complaint is regarding the restroom. The restroom is not level with the room floor so I almost tripped on it twice.

Average stay, the staff not too knowledgeable, English not strong

Would recommend Mon, Nov 2, 2015
The hotel is located in a fairly good place--with metros and buses but not as convenient as everyone says. You still have to walk about 10 mins to actual useful metros. However, that really wasn't an issue. They did not have a knowledgeable full time concierge or a concierge desk so it seemed like bell staff was offering help on activities. No one was able to help us make reservations to restaurants or activities we were looking for. Whenever we pushed for help, the front desk and bell staff gave us information that was very confusing or misleading. I found that it was annoying that they only had one entrance/exit through the front or only through the largely unused restaurant. The entrance is not street-side so we have to walk to the middle of the block to enter and the hotel elevators were all near the street. Just extra wasted steps when you've been walking all day. (I know this is very nitpicky but I'm giving real experience comments.) It is true that many key buses stop right next to the hotel so that was a plus. It is a block away from one of many shopping blocks so finding food and cafes were convenient. We picked this hotel a bit last minute so we didn't have too many options. Next time in Kyoto, I would definitely plan ahead and find a hotel closer to the JR rail a few blocks south.

Very well located hotel for site seeing

Would recommend Thu, Oct 29, 2015
Great location, friendly hotel, big (by Japanese standards) room a little tired but well maintained and very comfortable. Happy hour in the bar makes drinking in the hotel no too excessively priced. My top two tips - do not be tempted by the Chinese Buffet in the basement. There is a reason they make you pay upfront for your dinner - be warned it is not pleasant at all!! Try instead walking 5 minutes north of the hotel to Gastro Pub Tadg's on Kiya-Machi Dori (go right out of the hotel to the end, turn left (you are now on Kiya-Machi Dori), cross the main road and Tadg's is about 30m up the road on the right. It is an excellent little bar/restaurant. Great food and brilliant changing selection of mostly Japanese craft beers.

don't stay on the top floor

Would recommend Mon, Oct 26, 2015
they have some dumb spa on the top floor and if you get stuck up there you have to walk around the entire building to get to your room. it is so stupid. Also, my room was TINY. The people that worked there were cool though.

It's a good hotel, everything is going well except the wifi... Location is nice to shopping, a lot of bus and subway near the hotel. There is a airport shuttle station at 5 mins walk away.
