I was there for 10 days. The staff were friendly helpful and those i spoke to were both patient with my Japanese and also had good English for when i couldn't say what i needed in their language. They were helpful with organising bus to airport
and directions to sights etc.
The Room was small but that's to be expected in a business hotel. The bathroom was very clean and functional. The internet was fast and worked immediately. The hotels 3 restaurants were great if a little on the expensive side compared to the mass of choice available at the near by shopping centre.
The japanese resturant in particular was amazing at the hotel. the food was great and the staff helpful and friendly. Instructions in english on how to get cold water out of the ice machine would be helpful to those who cant read kanji. Air conditioning was a godsend. turn-down service was hard to predict but very quick. The hotels lounge is lovely with a nice view over the boulevard entrances to kyoto station. The staff in the lounge and the coffee and cakes were heaven.
Overall it was pretty awesome for an affordable business hotel.
My only complaint was the strong smell of cigarettes in my room. (it was a smoking room but still) Also it could do with a nice bar/ pub area.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Short walk from hotel
For cheaper more relaxed dining take the elevator down to the avanti dining floor. under the hotel (last button on the elevator control panel). A nice selection of sushi/tempura/ and other japanese restaurants abound.
