Hotel room was extremely cramped. This was a double, but one side was up against the wall.

A great place to stay

Would recommend Wed, Jun 4, 2014
I have stayed in several hotels across the southern half of Honshu. While this room is still similar to a basic single room in Japan, the size was about 50% larger than the typical room. The location was perfect for a short walk to Peace Memorial Museum Park and the other Peace Museums, Hiroshima Castle, and plenty of food and shopping (Hondori Street). It is also a 20 minute trolley ride to Hiroshima Station and with a JR Rail Pass, you can easily get to places like Miyajima. This hotel will probably be our location to stay when we bring students with us next year.

Dining

If you like Indian food, Ganesh on Hondori Street is excellent! It is a bit difficult to find (from ANA Crown Plaza Hotel, walk to Hondori Street, turn right, it is about 1.5 blocks on your left, you will go up a flight of stairs to the 2nd level). We liked it so much we went two nights in a row.

Comfortable and Convenient Hiroshima Stay

Would recommend Tue, Oct 22, 2013
The hotel was comfortable and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The price was a bargain for the amenities it provided. The location of the hotel is perfect! It is only a 5-minute walk from Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Complex: park, museum, A-Bomb Dome, etc. It is also only a few minutes walk to restaurants and stores on Hon Dori. Heiwa Dori (Hiroshima Peace Boulevard) passes right in front of the hotel. The walk to the train station is only 30 minutes. Buses and taxis are readily available if you prefer not to walk. All-in-all, a comfortable and conveniently located hotel.

Attractions

This hotel's location is perfect. It is a short walk to all of Hiroshima's principal attractions: the Peace Memorial Complex, Hiroshima Castle, Planetarium, Museum of Science, Museum of Art, and shopping & entertainment along Rijo and Hon Dori. You can also walk to the hotel from the train station (we did), it takes approximately 30 minutes (1.5 miles). In case you need to wash clothes to continue with your trek across Japan, a 24-hr coin laundromat (200 yen for washer, 100 yen for 15-minutes of drier) is a 10-minute walk (0.5 miles) away on the corners of Yagenbori-dori and Tanakamachi, right next to the Oriental Hotel Hiroshima. For food make sure to try one of Hiroshima's specialties: Okonomiyaki. A great place to do it is at Hassei, a hole in the wall sort of place with great ambiance and excellent food. We found it at a corner one block south of Heiwa Odori (Hiroshima Peace Boulevard) and Jizo-dori. It is beneath the Namiki Dental Clinic. Lonely Planet has 4-17 Fujimi-cho, Naka-ku as the address, but we had a difficult time finding it with this address. This place is only a 5 minute walk from the Ana Crowne hotel and definitely worth a visit.

Excellent location

Would recommend Tue, Oct 8, 2013
The hotel lives up to the Japanese accommodation standards: (1) excellent attention to details; (2) pride in maintaining the property and rooms in tip top conditions, and (3) small rooms. As expected, the staff was very helpful and readily willing to help. As noted, rooms are on the smaller side, but contains everything one may need, including a bathtub in which you really can't straighten your legs. The hotel is very conveniently located in the proximity of the Peace Park and Museum, and within walking distances from the Hiroshima castle and the Bus Center. If unable to walk more than a few minutes, there is several public transit systems available. I plan to go back to this hotel, if I go to Hiroshima again.

Attractions

Peace Museum and Park dedicated to the August 6, 1945 atomic bombing of the city.

Great location, lousy room

Would not recommend Wed, Apr 3, 2013
I'm sure there must be some good things about the Crowne Plaze, but our cramped end-of-the-hall room and absurdly small "semi-double" bed trumps them. The room was booked as a double for two adults a couple of months before our visit. In our unsatisfactory interactions with the staff, the lousy room seemed to have something to do with with fact that we booked through a well-known website and was nonrefundable. That also meant that we could not get our money back and go somewhere else. The hotel was full, or so they said, so we were stuck. Bed was little more than a twin and so uncomfortable I spent the second night on the floor. We were offered complimentary breakfasts and free use of the minibar, but it was nowhere enough to make us try this place again. Book at you own peril.

Great Location/Staff

Would recommend Mon, Dec 24, 2012
Most hotels in Japan don't have a very good reputation for being new and having an accommodating staff (note accommodating is different than polite). This was an exception, the staff were helpful and very flexible about a late checkout. Also, their English was superb and they were very helpful with our last minute transit requests.

Comfortable beds a few minutes away from the Peace Park

Would recommend Sun, Oct 21, 2012
Business like hotel. Wifi in the lobby. The buffet breakfast was varied and delicious. Near the U2 streetcar stop from the train station. Go outside of the train station to find the street cars. Don't take the train at track one inside the train station as we mistakenly did.

Older Hotel but nice

Would recommend Mon, May 16, 2011
Nice hotel but probably not worth the extra money. The rooms were western sized but the bed was hard as a rock. The hard bed is standard for japanese hotels but I went here in the hopes that it would be more western. The Sheraton Hotel in Hiroshima is a better choice for a western style room and bed although its location is not as good as the ANA Crowne Plaza. If I went again I would save the money and stay in a cheaper Japanese hotel or pick the Sheraton. Service was impeccable and restaurants were good but expensive.

Dining

Zucchini near the A-bomb dome is excellent food at relatively cheap prices.

a perfect place to stay in Hiroshima

Would recommend Tue, Mar 9, 2010
Pleasant courteous staff from check in to help with advice about were to eat, how to get around using public transport, etc. Room was absolutely quiet, perfectly clean and functional. Internet worked perfectly. Absolutely wonderful breakfast buffet on first flor, with mix of Western and Japanese food. it was one of 2 meals per day for me during my stay.
