Love this place!

This is our 4th time at Royal Decameron and 6th time in Jamaica. Royal Decameron makes you feel like you're truly in Jamaica. We have stayed in other luxurious hotels in Jamaica but it felt like I was back at home. I wanted the true experience of Jamaica and Royal Decameron provided that. It upsets me when I see bad reviews. If want a luxury hotel, then stay in one. I have to say the bungalows are the best!!!!

Awesome Caribbean Getaway

We had an amazing time and met some great people (mostly brits) at this all-inclusive resort. Great for couples as not too many kids around and they have an adult-only (quiet) pool. The food was solid and included an array of Jamaican, Asian and other cultures. The Jetty bar with swings is a great place to hang out and have a few cold ones with some fun bartenders. We stayed in a beach cottage and couldn't have asked for a better view and location. Already planning our next trip!

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Walk out of the resort to try some great Jamaican food (Jerk Pork or Chicken with Festival, Curry Goat, Escoveitch, Red Beans & Rice, etc) at Jerkies or go to the local supermarket for JBM coffee and bottled beer for the fridge! Don't be afraid of the locals.

Great Hotel

The hotel is great. There is lots to do if you are planning on staying around the hotel and don't want to spend a lot of money. there were lots of water sports activities to do and most were free. the was always entertainment by the hotel's "fun crew". they did stuff during the day, and the night shows were awesome. the rooms were not great. the courtyard rooms were horribly small, old and run down. the only plus was a nice flat screen tv. the room served its purpose of being a sleeping quarters, but left lots to wish for. the shower was old, and the plumbing went up and down and pressure and temperature.

Dining tip: In Hotel

the food was ehhh. the fruits were bland and i thought being tropical they would be better. the desserts tasted like they had little or no sugar. the breakfast was very american. pancakes, french toast, eggs, bacon, omelletes, etc. the meats were great. the jerk chicken and pork was great. there were only 2 dinner options each night, the asian OR jamaican restaurant, and the buffet. the 2 restaurants alternated nights of operation.

STAY AWAY at all cost, please read!

I made reservations through [...]for the Royal Decameron Hotel in Runaway Bay Jamaica for 7 nights arriving on July 2nd. We booked a cottage. First off, we nearly passed the "resort" due to its extremely small sign, which is actually part of a small terrible looking shopping plaza. My wife and I arrived at the hotel to find that the room was completely dissatisfactory and outdated. The air conditioning did not work properly, the bedding was filthy, the ceiling had holes in it and was lined with cob webs, the bathroom was horrendous. The cottage was very far from the beach, which was terrible as well. There was actually some police tape across on the the entrances to the beach. We spent 10 minutes in the room before my wife was in tears of disappointment and I went to the front desk and complained to the manager. My brother and his fiancé were traveling with us and they complained about their cottage as well. The manager sent us to look at a room which she called an "upgrade", but it was not a cottage and in just as poor condition. Also, the room was located up several flights of stairs. I informed the manager that we were not satisfied and requested a refund. My brother also requested a refund. The manager told my brother that he had an updated cottage, and it was horrible also. These cottages were deplorable! We went to the cafe for a meal and theY ran out of chicken wings. The food was terrible! We all ordered something different from the limited menu, and each dish was gross. I'm still not sure what type of meat they fed us. The pool is a joke. We checked out of the resort within an hour of checking in, [...]. We lost $1120 and STILL LEFT! The staff had the worst attitudes and the manager could care less that we were disatisfied. Were witnessed several other people complaining about various items as well. We booked this trip based on the positive reviews, but they are all lies. This place is equivalent to a cheap motel at a truck stop and should be shut down. Please do not make the same mistake we did.

Jamaica, 2011

The Decameron was a very nice all-inclusive resort. The location was nice and the service there also helped make our stay very enjoyable. The food was excellent, and there were plenty of things to do on the resort. There were plenty of tours to sign up for at the resort as well. We would recommend this resort to anyone, but especially to those who like to be out enjoying the different offers both on and off the resort.

There is a restaurant above the main buffet (the stairway leading up to it is sort of in back of the main buffet) that appearently has great food-we did not know this was included as a part of the all-inclusive package (but it was!-unfortunately we found out too late), so if you go there, check it out and let us know!!

would stay again

We were supposed to stay in a cottage, but were switched to a suite. We had a nice view of the mountains and enjoyed the suite. The staff at the hotel were polite and easy to get along with. We enjoyed the show they had everynight, and were very much entertained by the fun crew. We enjoyed snorkeling and the glass bottom boat. I noticed how well staff interacted with the children who were at the resort, and would really like to bring my own children back. It would have been nice to not have to pay for internet access. This was our first trip to an all-inclusive resort. the food was very good, and we really want to go back next year.

Awesome trip!

The Royal Decameron Club Caribbean was just perfect for our trip. My husband and I celebrated our 25th Anniversary-it was our first trip out of the US. The resort is small but had everything we wanted. The cottages are all single dwellings and very clean with plenty of room. King sized beds were very comfortable. Bathroom was nice with a very large shower. Our room had a small closet area with ironing board & lots of storage for clothes. We can't say enough good things about the atmosphere-when they say "Garden Cottages" it really is garden-like. All types of plants and flower hedges border the walk ways and it's just beautiful. Palm trees, banana trees, mango trees-everywhere! The food was great, also! Plenty of selections-with fresh fruit and cheeses at every meal. We ate at all the restaurants and really enjoyed the buffet the best. We also really enjoyed nightly entertainment. The dancers were fantastic! The staff was awesome! Everyone there treated us so well! The bartenders were just amazing! Very entertaining and talented-especially "bad boy" [...]and [...]. We are definitely going back and we will stay at this resort.

It was a beautiful get away I am a Jamaican and lived there as a child and I visit 2 times a year but some time I stay at a hotel to relax and enjoy the country. The hotel was lovely the food was great even though you could have the same thing every night the activities were fun and it was all worth the price, I would recommend it to anyone and I do plan on going back there next year. :)

Great Place

The hotel is oceanfront and has plenty of chairs for you to enjoy it. The Staff is exceptional, the cottage was all I could ask for, There was a glitch in the check in process but it was resolved the following afternoon. The food was average buffet style food with very little change throughout the week but we always found plenty to eat and drink the entire stay. I have stayed at this resort once before and would gladly return.
